##Chapter 13
livia
It had been several days since the almost kiss with Demetrius and since then, I hadn't seen him. I didn't look for him either, nor did I ask my father, so he wouldn't suspect that I liked the foreman.
Despite this, the days were being very happy for me, I had fun with my father taking some walks, he told me stories of his youth and taught me the basics of what he knew about animals and the farm.
Although my thoughts were most of the time on Demetrius, I didn't know where he was or where he was going and I didn't want to know.
I was lying in bed, finishing the last Chapter of a book, when I heard someone knocking on my bedroom door.
- You may come in. - I spoke.
— Excuse me, Livia. I heard Maria's voice.
“Hey, Mary. I got up from bed.
"Your father wants to see you downstairs." - informed , seriously.
- Down there? Why didn't he come here? Did something happen? I asked worriedly.
"He just asked me to call you."
- I am going. Let's go.
The way I was, all loose, I went down the stairs, distressed and with my heart hammering in my chest. When I found him, his back was turned.
- Father? I am here. Did something happen?
He then turned to me, with a cake full of strawberries on top and a birthday candle with the number 18 on it.
"Happy birthday my princess." My eyes automatically filled with tears and I allowed them to roll down my cheeks .
He walked over and kissed me on the forehead.
- Daddy... How beautiful. — I sobbed , moved — Thank you so much dad, I didn't even remember that I had a birthday on that date anymore, I haven't celebrated that in years. I love you lots. — I thanked him emotionally, took the cake from his hands, placed it on the table and hugged him tightly.
- I love you too daughter. I missed all your birthdays, but from now on, I want to give you everything I was deprived of.
“You are the best of the best. I am so happy. I hugged him again, happy tears filling my eyes.
We ate the cake together, laughing and happy. My dad got a call and had to go out to sort something out, he thought I would be upset but just spending it with him has already become the happiest day for me.
I went for a walk around the farm, to take a look at the other animals and, who knows, maybe find Frederic out there. It was Saturday, so maybe he could take me to the waterfall.
I was startled when I bumped into a large, solid body, looked up and met a pair of dark eyes I had never seen before.
- I'm sorry. I was distracted. I walked away immediately.
“It's okay, I was distracted too. the man replied.
He was tall, not as tall as Demetrius, not as muscular either, but he was big, his skin was tanned and the hat hid his hair, letting me know it was short, as Demetrius's fell over his shoulders even when he was wearing a hat. And, it was beautiful.
He smiled at me, and he had a nice smile too.
- You work here? I asked.
— Yes, I'm Marcos. I was on vacation.
- Cool. I'm Livia.
— Daughter of Mr. Hector.
"How do you know if he came back today?" - I smiled.
— He doesn't stop talking about you, earlier today when I got back, he made a point of telling me the news.
- Oh, yes ... - I nodded - What are you doing here?
— Do I take care of the health of the animals?
— Cool, you're a vet.
- You can say yes.
“My dream is to be one. I hope I can start college soon.
“It's in a great way, I can show you some things I do on a day-to-day basis. I am now on my way to see a cow that is having difficulty in giving birth.
"Are you sure I can go?" I asked excitedly.
- Sure, why not?
“Oh, you will. Maybe you don't want me around. I shrugged and he frowned, as if I'd said the most illogical thing in the world.
— Why would I treat you this way if you haven't done me anything wrong, on the contrary, you're being kind to me?
His words made me reflect.
"You're right, silly me.
- Let's go? He gestured for us to start walking and we did.
