❤️ Why Can't You Feel The Same? (Part 5) ❤️
Rumi was looking down, she tried not to think about his proximity to the heating coming from him. She was so tempted to lean close and inhale his head-turning scent deep in her lungs-and maybe in her memories.
She noticed he hasn't spoken a word to her, clearing her throat she mustered the courage to look into his eyes and trying not to fidget, "I really have to go Cando, you have to let go of my arm."
"My master?"
"Dean will be fine, you don't have to be worried about that. I will come tomorrow to check on him." Rumi answered him. "Believe me."
"How do I know that you are not lying to me right now?" Cando questioned not letting go of her arm, if possible, he brought her closer to his body so that a pin can't pass through them. He took a deep and closed his eyes and only opened it when Rumi spoke.
"I would never lie to you Cando, I will be here tomorrow to check on Dean. I won't go back on my words, anyway, I too need to ask him some questions." she told him.
Cando was quiet once again, studying her and then he finally let her go pushing her away from his body as if she burnt him, pulling a face.
"Just get this into your head, if you don't keep to your words, I will come and find you in Ashland and you won't like what I will do to you," he said with a recoil.
"Don't worry. You won't have to drag me." Rumi said, trying not to feel hurt by the disgusting look she was receiving from him. "If that is all, I will be on my way." She added and brushed past him, expecting him to stop her again but when he didn't, she stopped once she got to the room door and looked over her shoulder at him, "Say goodbye to your brother for me." and with that she was gone.
Cando gritted his teeth as his jaws clenched. He wasn't angry at Rumi, no, he was in fact angry at himself. He was angry at the way his body had nearly betrayed him. If he hadn't stopped himself and reminded himself how he hated her guts, he would have pinned her on his bed and- he stopped and shuddered at his line of his thoughts and tried not to think about it. Taking a deep breath he was reminded of Rumi scent he couldn't get off his head for some reason. He needed to get her out of his head.
He left his room and went to check on Dean, satisfied that he was sleeping- breathing- he instructed the guards to be alert and went to meet his brother.
Entering Kando's room, he saw that he was no longer in the bathroom, instead, Kando was stark naked, changing his bloody clothes to another new set. Cando was somewhat grateful that Rumi didn't come to see his brother.
"You've healed completely," Cando said when he saw no wounds. He was lucky they healed very fast.
"Yeah," Kando agreed, putting on one of his trousers and a shirt. "I am fine now," he added a second later. "Is our master now awake?"
"Not yet."
"What about your witch?" Kando demanded and shrugged when he realized his brother was glaring at him. "What?"
"I have told you not to call her that," Cando said and if possible, one could hear the sound of his gritting teeth. "She is not and will never be."
"Shame," Kando said after a while and walked over to his window. "She is a beauty, very pretty. Maybe with time I will fall for her and I hope she will like me back." he added, teasing his brother and not meaning those words. "I mean you don't want all that beauty to waste."
"She won't like you neither will she desire you so whatever you are planning just know it won't work out between the two of you."
"Why?" Kando query as he turns around to face his brother, ignoring his heated glare. "If I remember correctly, you told me a few hours ago to forget about Gwen and that she is now happy with the love of her life, well I am doing what you say by forgetting her and moving on with someone like Rumi. Imagine having a witch by our side wouldn't that be. great."
"It won't happen, not on my watch." Cando spit out, then realized how he sounded, like someone jealous. He shouldn't be but somewhat he can't help himself. But picturing Rumi and his brother together didn't sit well with him, he didn't like the image it created in his head.
"I was just joking Cando, you know I am so stop growling at me." Kando's voice brought him back to reality. "Besides I don't want any other woman apart from Gwen so your witch is still yours."
"I never said she was mine."
"Keep denying it," Kando said with a smile on his face. "Anyway Rumi might not be yours, even if she likes you, she has someone else she is fighting to get his attention in Ashland, Storm."
"Well, he can have her for all I care. It's none of my business."
Kando shook his head slightly. "I need to see Adaoh." he said and with that he left his room, Cando not having anything to do at moment decided to follow his brother. He needed something to get his mind of Rumi. He can't really like a girl he hate, right?
___
Rumi was almost at the great wall when she decided to make herself invisible again to pass the guards there and enter Ashland without answering a lot of questions from them.
She was in no mood for questions as her thoughts were filled with Cando. Is he thinking of her right now? Does he like her? His attitude towards her shows he doesn't but she begs to differ. Maybe there is something she has to do to make him like her.
She walked through the walls and came out of the other side and threw off the invisibility once her feet were on Ashland soil.
Her coming to Kudarma Kingdom wasn't fruitless, she had met Dean and had made him consider her as an ally. And also she had met Cando, handsome, dangerous and probably someone who hates her.
She halts all of a sudden and scan her environment, which was empty, she takes a deep breath and exhale.
"I can sense your aura," Rumi said. No sooner had she said those words, the unknown man was in front of her so close to her that he was invading her personal space, she could feel his warm breathing on her face. Rumi has to shift back and create space between them as she glances at his covered face. She wondered what eye color he may have and that he was hiding.
"Why?"
Hearing his voice shows how angry he was and Rumi wondered why. She seems to be wondering a lot for today.
"Why what?" she asked with raised brows not understanding what he expected her to answer.
"Don't pretend as if you don't know what I am saying. Don't you dare pretend." he told her pointing his covered index finger at her.
"If I know, will I be asking you why? I did as you told me and now me and Dean have become an ally," Rumi said to him.
"Why did you remove it?" he demanded.
"Removed it?" Rumi said and it suddenly clicked in her head. "You are the one who did that to Dean, right? Why did you do that to him? Did you know he nearly killed Kando if not for my timely intervention." she added.
"I don't care if he kills that bird man, what I care about is you spoiling my years of hard work. So you know how it is for me to do that spell?"
'I can do that. It's a simple spell.'the words nearly rolled out from her mouth but she kept quiet.
"You've spoiled my years of hard work." he growled out.
"Seriously speaking, I did not know that symbol was from you if I knew I wouldn't have tempered with it. I'm sorry." She apologized.
"Sorry won't bring back what you did. Now I have to go back to the way I have been doing before, which was stressful for me."
"That's great, it's still a win-win for you."
"No it's not a win-win for me," the unknown man said exhaling loudly. "His body will fight me this time around," he added a second later and clutched his hands. "It's not easy. Just a little longer and everything will be okay."
"Whatever this is, it's none of my business. I went to do as you said so if you will excuse me I will be heading home." Rumi told him and started walking away when he blocked her.
"Not so fast Rumi, I saw the way you were looking at the other brother, you shouldn't mix business with pleasure. Be focused on the reason why you are there, I will be telling you what to do next."
"Wait a minute, are you telling me that you were in the Palace all that time?" Rumi asked and when he didn't reply she continued. "When you saw him beating Kando you should have helped him."
"He deserves it and besides you are the last person to talk of pity. You remembered what you did to Juno when you were 12 years old, should I still refresh your memory of how you brutally killed Grace? What about Emera? What were you thinking when you did those acts at that young age?"
"Who are you? You know so much about me." Rumi said, trying not to get angry.
"I know a lot about you including the ones you're yet to know of Rumi." the unknown man told her. "Don't repeat what you did today again else I will kill that little crush of yours."
"You can kill him for all I care. You don't really know me that well," Rumi said with a smirk. "I can even join you in killing him, in case you haven't noticed I enjoy killing." she added with seriousness in her voice.
Nodding his head he was fone. leaving Rumi all alone once again.
Rumi stared around her once again and when she was sure she was alone she breathed out in relief. She hasn't meant those words she told the unknown man, she has only said that to pretend that Cando met nothing to her.
She continued her walk home.
She was vexed, the unknown threatening her about Cando didn't sir down well with her. She has to find out who he is.
She arrived home and opening the gate she was caught off guard by the cleanest of the compound. She didn't realize her mother would take her words seriously.
Damn Sarah was a good cleaner. Closing the gate behind her and bolting it, she went to meet Sarah inside and head straight for her room.
Sarah, who had just finished bathing and was putting on one of Rumi's clothes , wasn't surprised when her room door opened and Rumi entered.
"Wow, everywhere looked so clean mother. I didn't know you could clean so well. You cleared the grasses which surprised me," Rumi said with a smile. "I hope with all these you had time to cook because I am hungry." she added. She had eaten in Kudarma but that won't stop her from eating her mother's food, not after she told the woman to prepare something for down before she returns. And knowing Sarah, she will begin to sing it in her ears.
"I did not clean the compound, Rumi, I was forced to do it." Sarah grumped out.
"What? You were forced to clean the compound? By who?"
'Who else if not for you stup.id sister' Sarah wanted to say that instead she said. "It was Juno, she came here this Morgan to look for you and when she didn't see you she made me start doing everything."
"Juno was here?" Rumi was surprised and didn't fail to hide it. Why was he here? She survived after all. That unknown man must be behind her quick recovery.
"Yes she was here and what she did to me was horrible, a humiliation to me. Rumi, I need you to return my powers, if not for all but small, to teach Juno who she is messing with. If I had my powers I wouldn't have done any of the work, I would have dealt with her." Sarah told her hands on her hip as she stared at Rumi. Expecting the girl to agree to her request.
Remembering the unknown man who had called Juno his bride she just shook her head at Sarah. The unknown man wouldn't allow anything to hurt Juno.
"Why was she here? Juno is the type that will never come here to ask of me, so there has to be a reason why she was here." Rumi said.
"She came here to tell you that Emera wants to see you. You haven't visited the man so that is why she was here." Sarah answered. "I even told her that I was your servant." she added a minute later with her eyes narrowed.
"Oh, I will definitely visit the palace in the evening," Rumi said and laughed out briefly. "So you told her that I was your servant?"
"Yes," Sarah said, still angry that Rumi was taking this lightly. "I would have followed you to the palace but a lot of people know me, well, two people in particular. Emera and Rose. So I wouldn't want that. And no, I am not changing into any butterfly." she added. "Rumi you've not said anything concerning what I asked you."
"And what is it?" Rumi said, pretending not to know what Sarah was talking about.
"I need my Powers back Rumi, please."
"No."
"Even if it is small."
"My answer is still the same, no."
"Why? It's my power, remember, not yours to begin with. I need them." Sarah said, her arms flying around. "What if I need to protect myself? I can't wait for you to come to my aid."
"Sarah, you won't even smell it. I am always here to protect you so don't worry, besides, it's not as if you cannot fight. You are good with swords, you taught me that, remember? So if someone looks for your trouble just find a sword and that person is a goner. So you see you are not that helpless."
"Rumi, I am your mother." Why is Rumi just as stubborn as her father? If she had known she would one day beg for her powers, she wouldn't have stolen Rumi at all. Why did she even steal the one with magic? Now Rumi has become her worst nightmare and mistake.
"That's the reason why I don't want to return your power, mother. I don't trust you at all mother so you better start sharpening your sword." Rumi said. "I'm in my room, bring my food there." she added and left the room.
