Chapter 20
WHEN CHARLES said that he had no plans on letting Angelo go, he was actually doubting himself. Because as of the moment, as he stares at Angelo whose body is resting at a hospital bed, he couldn't think of anything but to let him go.
He finally understood what Wynter meant by "he will be the death of Angelo" and he now fears for the life of his beloved.
If this will always be the consequence of loving him, then I'm willing to set him free.
Charles remained in his deep thoughts and was able to come back to reality when he heard the door open. Wynter came in and sighed as she looked at her brother's swelling face, filled with bruises.
"Wyn, I'm so sorry." Charles' words came out as a whisper.
The lady let out a small smile and sat beside him. "You weren't responsible for his kidnap nor the bruises. So, don't blame yourself," she said, trying to calm him down.
"But if I just listened to you, this wouldn't have happened." Charles just wiped his face.
"Well, that's partly the reason but hey, I gave you my go signal to be with him, right? A part of our plan worked, it's just my fault that I haven't watched my brother more. If I was able to solely focus my attention on him, he wouldn't have experienced this hell."
Both of them sighed. This is the first time that something has happened to Angelo at the bar for his meeting with Mr. Chua, the two of them immediately created a plan.
When they were able to assassinate Mr. Chua, together with his men, they knew that the incident would ring a lot of bells in the circle that their families have. And they weren't mistaken because just a few days after they made the arrest, tons of death threats were thrown at Angelo.
So it took a few months before Charles was able to return to LUST DAWN because between him and Wynter, he was more likely to be mistaken for a part of Angelo's life. He handled every threat that they received that involved Angelo.
Charles got busy fighting for the life of his best friend's brother. Wynter would always handle the close-range combats and he would handle the snipers and such. That was all they could do since they still didn't have a concrete plan to save Angelo.
Their enemies finally found the relationship of Angelo with the Vasquez', along with the promise that they only found out that Wynter's father had been hiding for a long time.
Wynter's dad made a promise to Angelo's mother that he will keep Angelo hidden from the kind of world that they have.
The world where the death of Angelo's mom took place. So that's how Wynter regrets trying to get into his older brother's life. She didn't know that she would only bring him back to hell because of her actions.
Just yesterday, the two of them expected Igor's group, the Russian Mafia who wanted revenge on both of their families, to move. That's the reason why they let their enemy's hacker access the CCTV system of Wynter's condo unit. Their little fight a while ago was part of their plan since they knew how those men wanted their family to be in a clash. Their show served as a distraction as they ask Narae to pinpoint Angelo's location.
The two of them were silent for a few more minutes in the room until the door opened again and Wynter's father entered with someone they knew very well what the job was.
"What is Ms. Abelida doing here, dad?" Wynter referred to the hypnotherapist of their organization.
"This is the only way to keep him safe," said Wyn's father as he looked at his eldest.
Gone with the calm Wynter, his best friend shows worry all over her face. "Wh-What are you gonna make him forget?"
Mr. Vazquez let out a sigh. "I have something in mind, but I'll let you two decide." After that, he left the room together with the hypnotherapist to give them time.
The two of them became silent again and seemed to be weakening as they fall back to their seats. They'll make him forget, but which of his memories? Like what Mr. Vazquez said Charles also had something in mind. He just finds it hard to accept. We finally had our second chance, but sadly, it doesn't seem like our time yet. Charles stared at the unconscious Angelo. Looks like I have to wait a little longer, Gab.
With that thought in mind, Charles told his best friend what memories Angelo should forget. Whatever happens, from now on I promise that I will remain faithful to you until everything will be in our favor. Just a little longer, Gab. I'll hold on to you, I promise.
WHEN ANGELO opened his eyes, immediately the smell of medicine and a white room came over him. When he lowered his gaze, he was greeted by a young woman. "How are you feeling, Angelo?"
He couldn't hide the frown on his forehead. Who is she? How come she knows my name?
He couldn't hide the frown on his forehead. "I am Reishen Abelida, a psychologist per se, and I am here on behalf of Mr. Vazquez to help you recover faster."
Angelo blinked a few times at what he heard. Dad sent her here? For me to recover fast?
When the woman realized he had doubts, she gave him a warm smile and began talking and asking him about a lot of stuff until he felt his body and mind relaxed and later on, he got busy entertaining her questions.
One thing's for sure, behind the room that he was in, both Wynter and Charles were nervous and were trying to condition themselves to face Angelo.
