Forty One
In Alina's absence, Alpha Kilan instructed that the room be cleaned. It was during that process that a bag full of money was found hidden in the closet. It was the exact same note as the ones that had been found in Harris room. Everyone couldn't believe what they were seeing. Alina looked really innocent, and each time she was accused, she would cry so hard that people would sympathize with her. The only thing people couldn't figure out was how she would get to trade with someone else so easily. The police were called when she fell from the stairs, losing her baby. It was Kamilina, the robot that had recorded everything. That robot was designed in such a way that it looked exactly like Kamilina. It was Kamilina's idea that they would get to trap her, record her, and investigate her even without her knowing if someone would be sent to take care of her.
They were to look for a candidate that wouldn't get harmed by her bullies or wouldn't give up hope, and that was why they decided to contact experts and have a robot custom-made for them. All that time, Alina had been bullying it, telling it awful things, thinking it was the real Kamilina. The robot who was standing downstairs during Alina's fall had managed to see her coming, and in the blink of an eye, she had fallen. It was good that a camera was installed on it, or else no one could have come to know how all that happened. The camera was taken, and the police were given the opportunity to see for themselves when they demanded to know how Alina had fallen. They were coming from the hospital, where they had heard that Alina had woken up, and after taking her statement, they came back to the palace to take other people's statements as well.
"Where is Miss Kamilina?" One of the police officers asked
"I am here," Kamilina responded while wondering why the police were looking for her. She took Kian's hands in hers and pulled him with her to the police.
"Alina said that you were the one cleaning up the house the day she fell. Is it true you had water patches on the stairs?" She was interrogated.
"Me? No, I was not working that day. It's her." She said this while pointing towards the robot that was taking garbage outside. "It's a robot, sir, and we vacuum our house after it's cleaned; can water patches be left behind?" She chuckled.
"Well, according to Alina, she thinks that you didn't clean the floor clearly, and when she stepped on it, she slipped, thus rolling down the stairs and losing her baby. She is really traumatized." The police sympathized with her.
"Why don't you check the footage we gave you and see if it matches Miss Alina's statement?" General Kian intervened.
"Yes, sir." The police agreed, took the laptop handed to them, and sat down to see the footage. They all saw Alina rushing out of her room. She raised her hands like she intended to call Alpha Killan, but she changed her mind. She then looked around her suspiciously, and when she saw no one was watching, she tripped intentionally and rolled downstairs, thus losing her baby. The police officer wiped his face, looking at the footage again and again.
"Well, it's re... I mean, she didn't fall like she said; it seems like she made herself fall." He told the others who watched the video, and they were all left with the same expressions on their faces.
"What more were you expecting from her? This is obvious; she was trying to frame my sister and then let herself look like a saint. I know when she gets back home, she will just say that Kamilina didn't dry the floor properly and I slipped on it. But don't worry; she is young, and she didn't expect that would happen, so I forgive her. Then she'll smile sweetly at everyone, and we will all be left with the impression that she is such a good-hearted person." Alpha Killan said this while walking towards the police officers.
"We are sorry, Alpha Killan. She told us that she slipped, and we were doing our work. We only wanted to make sure that she slipped accidentally and that it wasn't planned, because in situations like this, the villains will make it look like an accident when in reality it was planned. Once again, we are sorry to bother you and your little one," the head of the police officers said while bowing down towards Kamilina, who had already pouted her lips, ready to cause a ruckus.
"Don't apologize, officer. You were just doing your work, and I really appreciate that." Killan responded. "You may leave now." He then told them. After the police left, Killan instructed the guards to go to the hospital and take Alina since they had heard from the police officers that she was now well and would be discharged in a short while. Back in the hospital, Alina kept asking the doctor questions, wanting to know whether Kilan had ever gone there to look after her, and just like they were told, the doctor said that they couldn't respond to that question. After she heard that she would be discharged, she got really happy, thinking that Killan would finally be coming to pick her up.
Anytime she fell sick and Killan came to pick her up from the hospital, she would be asked what she wanted to do. She would deny all his suggestions that they should go on a vacation so that she could fully recover. She always insisted that they go back to the palace because she knew that she wasn't done with her plans yet. She always wanted to see the faces of the people she had set up or accused, but this time she didn't want to go back to the palace. She made up her mind that he would ask Killan to take her on vacation because she could feel the gap between them already. Going to a faraway place, away from the pack and his brat of a sister, she will get to have him close to her once again.
Alina looked past the doctor's shoulder to the window, where she saw the reflection of Killan's car coming through the gate. She lay on the bed, pretending that she was still weak, as she imagined Killan lifting her in his arms and taking her to their car. The door was pushed open, and Alina fought the urge to open her eyes and see him. Silence reigned, and after a short while, she heard the person asking the doctor.
"Can she walk?" It wasn't Killan's voice, but General Kian's.
"Yes, Miss Alina can walk now, unless you want to carry her out." The doctor chuckled.
"No way, she will walk." She heard General Kian responding and them coming closer to her. He stood beside her. "Alina, get up." He urged her.
She flicked her eyes open, swallowing the growing lump in her throat. Sitting on the bed, she asked weakly, "Where is Alpha Killan? I thought he was the one who was supposed to come and pick me up."
"Ah, yes, Alina. My brother-in-law was to pick you up, but he's preparing a surprise for you." Kian smirked. A new wave of happiness surged in Alina's system, and she quickly got out of bed. Wearing her shoes, she asked Kian to lead her to the car as quickly as he could. "What of the clothes? You aren't planning to go with that gown, are you?" He asked while pointing at the blue dress she was wearing.
"Uh, yes." She nodded while running towards the washroom. Taking it off, she threw it in the laundry basket and put on her clothes. It was a black dress that reached above her knees. Killan had once told her that she looked good in black, and that was why she changed her wardrobe. It was now dominated by only black clothes, with a few of them being red and white. Applying some make-up, she smacked her lips, and after she was satisfied with the look, she got out of there. From the doctor, she learned that General Kian was already out and was waiting for her at the garage.
Picking up her purse, she practically ran out of there so she wouldn't miss the surprise Killan was having for her. General Kian rolled his eyes when he saw him coming towards the car. That was the same person who was lying limp on the bed, not able to speak properly, when he walked in.
"Did she ask why my brother didn't come to pick her up?" Kamilina, who was sitting beside General Kian, asked
"Yes, little one." Kian nodded while brushing the strand of hair that had fallen over her face. Kamilian blushed and asked after taking a deep breath.
"What did you tell her?"
"I told her that my brother-in-law is busy arranging a surprise for her," he smirked. There she is." He said it while closing the door. Alina grumbled when General failed to open the back door for her like she had expected. When he ignored her, she opened it on her own, slumped herself on the back seat, and took out a small mirror from her purse to make some final touches.
"You look like you are from the airport and not the hospital, Alina." Kamilina rolled her eyes. That was when Alina saw her. Grinning widely at her, she asked
"I look pretty, don't I?"
Yeah, you do. I'll warn you, though. Brother's surprise will blow you off. If you don't control yourself, you may end up passing out again." She pressed the word again.
"Really?" Alina asked in an excited voice. "Can you give me a hint?" She asked, a broad smile crawling on her face.
"Yep!" Kamilina bubbled her head up and down, popping the P out. "It starts with D." She smirked at her through the rearview mirror.
"D? What could that possibly mean, Kamilina?" She asked while thinking hard. She knew of no place that started with D.
"Don't worry at all. You will see for yourself. Just tighten your seat belt, Alina, because the real adventure will be starting soon." Kamilina smiled at her, and then turning to Kian, she reminded him, "Kia, you haven't tied my seatbelt yet." Kia chuckled, flicked her nose with his index finger, and then helped her tie her seatbelt.
Kian had gotten really close to Kamilian while helping her with her seatbelt. Kamilian gripped the sides of her seat when his hot breath fanned her face. He went ahead to brush his fingers on her sides, and she trembled, closing her thighs together. She looked at the blue crop top she was wearing and gasped when she saw how hard her nipples were. Kian followed her gaze, and she quickly tried to hide them with her hair, making an excuse, "It's..it's cold."
"Cold?" Kian smirked, getting closer to her. He made it seem like he wanted to kiss her, and when Kamilian closed her eyes, he chuckled silently and whirled against her ear. I don't think it's cold. Do you think I don't know that I turned you on?" He then bit her earlobe.
"Please don't do this to me, Kia," she complained while flicking her eyes open.
"Then, what do you want me to do?" Kian asked her, pretending that he had no idea what she was talking about.
"Kiss me," she whispered, but Kia had heard her. Cupping her chin, he made her raise her head so that she could look at him as he slowly leaned in to capture her lips.
"Adventure?" Alina asked herself loud enough for everyone to hear this, making Kian stop doing whatever he was intending to do. Letting go of Kamilina's chin, he turned to face her with a smirk.
"Yes, Alina. Adventure." He then rolled his eyes in annoyance.
