Chapter 008
An alarm blared from the other end, causing Camila to groan in annoyance. Sweeping her hands over the bedside table, she grabbed the light blue watch that had been tickling all that time and smashed it against the wall. A chuckle made her sit on the bed, and a blush rose on her face when she saw who was standing in front of her. Alpha Killan, with a towel wrapped around his waist, was sitting on the table across the bed, his right leg crossed over the left, looking at his laptop.
"Morning, honey," he greeted, closing the laptop. "I asked the maids to bring our breakfast upstairs and have already prepared the bath." He smiled, coming closer to her and kissing her forehead. "Does it hurt?" He then asked, caressing the mark on her neck, which was taking longer than expected to heal.
"Not as much," she said, biting her lower lip, wondering whether she should tell him what she had been opting to say since the day she was brought to the palace.
"I wonder why it's taking so much time to heal. As a werewolf, it was supposed to heal just yesterday," he worriedly told her, leaning in to kiss the mark.
"Actually, there is something I have been wanting to tell you." She bit her lower lip, playing with her fingers nervously.
"What is it, honey?" Alpha Killan asked her, staring at her trembling lips, which he caressed, and then intertwined his hands with hers and nodded at her to say whatever she was about to.
"I..." she stammered, clearing her throat. "I am not a werewolf. I am a human," she whispered, but Alpha Killan's ears had picked up whatever she had said. Staring at the expressionless look on Alpha Killan's face, Camila rumbled on and on, "I am so sorry that I didn't tell you in time. I swear I was going to tell you it's only that any time I was about to, I didn't know where to start. I know you are an alpha, and you'll need someone as strong as Alina, who has wolf blood on her side. I can go if that's what you want. Just please don't punish me. I swear I'll disappear out of your life forever," she begged, tears accumulating in her eyes.
Alpha Killan, who was still staring at her, not knowing what to say, pulled the scared girl into his arms, kissing her hair. She was a human, so what? As long as she was his mate, he didn't care about that. Besides, he doesn't need a strong Luna by his side; he just needs someone who will understand, support, care for, and love him.
"It's okay, honey. I don't care if you have your wolf or not. I love you the way you are," he assured her, rubbing her back gently.
"What of the elder's?" She asked worriedly, "They won't accept me as the luna of this pack when they finally come to the realization that I am a human." She voiced out her fear.
"They don't need to know. That would be our secret," he whispered back at her.
"But we will have to tell them. If not today, some other day," she insisted.
"Of course we will, honey, but definitely not today. Now, end of discussion, let's go and take a shower or else the bath will run cold," he chuckled, lifting her off the bed. Camilla chose the outfits for the day for both of them, and after they were done dressing up, the maids walked right in with a tray of fried chicken mixed with potatoes and a glass of juice for both of them. Happily, they devoured the entire tray of food that was brought to them to refill the lost energy they had drawn away from their bodies the previous night while sharing their passionate moment, and then walked out of the room hand in hand to take a stroll around the palace to quicken their digestion.
"I loved the chicken," she smiled, running down the staircases.
" I also loved it. It's my favorite," Alpha Killan said when he saw Camilla smiling. He really doesn't know what has been happening to him. What he could explain was that whenever he spotted Camilla smiling, he found himself doing so. His adviser had told him the other night that he was in love, and he accepted it. He was already madly in love with Camila, and he wouldn't deny it.
"Honey," a sweet voice said, jarring him from afar. Letting himself be pulled back to the real world, he smiled at the running Camila, who was asking her to run after her. Ignoring the gasps from the workers, he happily raced her, slowing down a bit so that Camila could win. Naturally, he was supposed to take the lead because he was a wolf while she was a human, but he had sworn never to make her feel differently. "I won!" Camila jumped, stopping in front of the horses. Alpha Killan reached her a second later, and he lay flat on the grass, catching his breath. Not only the cowboys were shocked by the sight in front of them, but the horses were too, because they neighed in disbelief.
"Shall we ride around with the horses?" Camilla asked, jumping from the ground and running towards a white horse, who licked her face when she caressed its neck. "Anything for you, honey," Alpha Killan agreed, joining her among the horses. It had been a while since he went horseback riding, and that was after his favorite horse was shot dead, but he wouldn't mind doing it with Camila.
"Do you know how to ride a horse?" He asked her.
"Yeah. I know," she smiled, her mind traveling back to the time she lived in the forest with her mother. Once in a while, her mother would take her to the nearby farm, where she would rent a horse and teach her how to ride it. Since she was young, she had been dreaming of doing such activities and becoming a professional horse rider, but her dreams crashed into a million pieces when she was taken by Cameroon. She recalled sharing her dreams with him the first day he took her, and he smiled, telling her that all her mother's and her own dreams would come true. She was too young to understand the sarcasm in his voice, or else she would have looked for a way to run far away from him.
"Honey!" Alpha Killan's voice drew her away from her half-conscious state of mind. "Are you thinking of backing away?" He chuckled while climbing on his horse. Blinking the tears away, Camilla shoved the thoughts away and mounted on hers. Alpha Killan had picked a black horse while she rode the white one.
Camila and Alpha Killan rode around the city, visited some restaurants, and paid a visit to the rural areas because most of them didn't get the opportunity to come to the palace to see the introduction of their new Luna. Camila was welcomed well, and she enjoyed herself as young girls of her age and middle-aged women volunteered themselves to dance for them. For the first time in her life, she felt like a free bird, as she could do or get anything she wanted. "Do you want to dance, Luna Camila?" A lady about her age with tan skin and long blonde hair who was wearing a green dress grabbed her by her hands.
The other people gasped in shock, and all of a sudden it went all silent. The drums were stopped, the music was stopped, and all that could be heard was the rapid beating of the villagers hearts. It was a rule that no one was supposed to touch Luna but her husband and her maids while bathing or dressing her. For the girl to touch her, she had committed an abomination, and she could be jailed for two or three years. Camila, who took longer to understand what was going on, smiled off, patted the girl on her back, and led her to the dance floor, where she danced with them. With that, she had earned the villagers hearts, and they considered her the best Luna they had ever had.
It could have been another Luna; who knows, the poor girl could be somewhere manhandled, thrown aggressively at a truck, and paid for what she had done, but Camila was something else. Alpha Killan was sitting in a corner, staring at Camila as she enjoyed herself and smiled at what she had done, knowing that he had gotten the best. A year ago, he had visited the same village accompanied by Alina Mellow when the villages were affected by floods, and a young girl did the same thing by pulling Alina's hand so that she could dance with them. What followed next was something none of the villagers had expected. Alina grabbed the girl by her elbow, yanked her hair, and slapped her really hard on the face, disfiguring her. If it were not for him to intervene, only God knows to what extent she would have beaten the girl.
"I am hungry." Camilla's voice jarred him from his past thoughts.
"What? I thought we just ate. The villagers served us some roasted meat and wine." Alpha Killan was shocked, but after a while of smiling, he said, "Anyways, let's get out of here. I will take you somewhere where you can have a nice meal," he said, taking her by her hands. Bidding the villagers goodbyes, Alpha Killan helped Camila mount on her horse, and after mounting on his, they rode towards the restaurant where they had had coffee before proceeding to the village.
"A plate of rice and fish, please," Camilla ordered, licking her lips, causing Alpha Killan to burst into a fistful of laughter. She was behaving exactly like a starving puppy. The way she moved around, sniffing the air, licking her lips, and even giggling when a plate of rice and fish was served to her, "Delicious!" she moaned, licking her lips. Alpha Killan knew that if it were not for him being an alpha, people around them could have filmed her and made her go viral due to the way she was devouring the plates of food like a hungry pig.
"You are not eating?" Camilla asked, looking at Alpha Killan, who had his eyes stuck on her.
"Nay. You go ahead. I am not hungry," he smiled, helping her wipe her lips.
"Well then. I'll have everything to myself," she said with a mouthful of fish, emptying Alpha Killan's plate into hers. Half an hour later, after she was done with the food, drank some juice, and stretched a little, they went out to go back home, but that was until Alpha Killan saw something from afar. He asked Camila to follow him, and in a little while they were in a hospital.
"I am not sick," Camila complained, trying to get out of the hospital, but Alpha Killan's grip on her wrist was so tight.
"I know, honey. "Just calm down and come with me," he assured her, pulling her closer to him by her waist. Alpha Killan led her through the long corridors, and they went to an office far from the others'. Alpha Killan didn't bother to knock because he walked straight in, and the old man behind the desk engulfed him in a tight hug.
"Long time, no see, son." The man patted his back, his blue eyes glowing behind his thick reading glasses.
"Yeah, I know grandpa," Alpha Killan smiled, tightening the hug, "this is my mate and wife, Luna Camila Rasort." Alpha Killan pointed at her, and she nodded at the old man, and turning to her, he said, "And honey, this is Doctor Putin, my grandfather."
"Hello there, Camila," the man greeted, and when Camila made to stetch her hand for a handshake, she was surprised when the old man pulled her into a hug instead.
"Hello, Docror Putin," she smiled shyly, breaking the hug.
"Call me Grandpa; please drop the doctor Putin," the old man smiled, offering them a seat. They talked for a while, and Camila did say that Alpha Killan's grandfather was a nice person to be around. She also realized that he was never fond of Alina Mellow, whom he couldn't understand why his precious and favorite grandson was so head over heels with, but he was now glad that she came through. After a cup of hot coffee, they bid him goodbye and walked out of the hospital to go home. At the door, Alpha Killan excused himself because there was a friend of his he needed to see at the ward, and because the hospital smell was making her feel nauseous, she remained outside. As she sat on the bench waiting for Alpha Killan, she rolled her eyes at the sight of the approaching lady.
"We meet again, Luna Camila," the sarcastic voice said through the eardrums.
"Not again," she whined, forcing a smile on her face that both of them knew was fake.
