Prepare her for the night
Roberto landed in his villa many hours after he left Berlin. He was pretty tired, so he lay on the bed in his room to rest.
Vincenzo walked to Roberto’s door and stopped right in front of it. He placed his ear against the door to check if Roberto was busy or not.
He heard nothing from inside the door so he spoke up…
“Mr. Roberto, I am here to inform you that we have gotten the rest of the money. The boys just sent me a message.”
Robert had sent another set of skilled men to hijack the rest of the money that was with Lorenzo. He wasn’t going to collect seventy percent and just go after waiting for ten years. He wanted a hundred percent!
These men he sent had double-crossed Lorenzo’s men when they were rushing him to the hospital, they killed some of Lorenzo’s men but kept Greta out of it. She wasn’t touched.
That fought back and some of Roberto’s men were also injured.
Roberto opened his eyes and stared at the ceiling after hearing what Vincenzo had said. An evil grin appeared on his face and he spoke,
“And my men?”
Vincenzo gulped after hearing Roberto’s question. He was about the say what Roberto hated to hear the most; that his men got hurt.
“Four of them were hurt, sir. They are being taken care of as we speak.”
Vincenzo kept his ear on the door, he wanted to know what Roberto was doing, whether he was lightening his Tobacco or something else.
Suddenly he heard a noise from inside the room, he quickly moved back and bowed his head.
Roberto was approaching the door.
Roberto opened the door and met Vincenzo standing in front with his head bowed. His guards also did the same.
Roberto shot him a grave stare.
“Where are the two ladies?”
“They are on the second floor, in the fifth room.”
Vincenzo raised his head to look at Roberto, he quickly lowered them after seeing the look he had on his face.
“Is she awake now?”
Roberto inquired from Vincenzo because Martina had gone unconscious during their flight, and she didn’t regain consciousness even when they arrived at the villa.
“She is still unconscious sir, we haven’t done anything about her because we still need some moment of peace. Once she is awake, she would start her troubles.”
Vincenzo kept his head low as he explained things to Roberto.
Roberto heaved a sigh, he tucked his hands in his pockets and began to walk away.
Vincenzo looked up and followed behind him immediately.
Roberto strutted in front while Vincenzo trudged behind him.
“How is the sister?”
“She is looking, weak sir. I think medical attention would be needed for her as soon as possible.”
Roberto turned his head and looked above his shoulders, he shot Vincenzo a wolfish stare making Vincenzo swallow hard.
He knew he was in no place to tell Roberto what to do, but he had always done that. He had always tried talking him to do some things even though he worried for his life.
“There wouldn’t be any need for that. I’d send her back to Italy in the morning. I have no business with her.”
Vincenzo’s eyes bugged out at Roberto’s statement. He was going to release her?
“Okay, sir.”
Roberto climbed up the stairs with his hands still tucked in his pockets. He felt tired, but he wanted to see Martina before he slept.
Roberto got to the room, two guards were in front of the door. Though he knew there was nowhere they could go, or anyway, they could escape, he still wanted to plant some guards around them.
He wanted it to be hell for her.
The guards opened the door for Roberto and he walked into the room. He saw Martina laying on the ground, and Caterina was sitting next to her.
She had Martina’s head on her leg.
Roberto could see dried-up tears on Caterina’s face when she looked at him wanly. Roberto looked at Vincenzo and spoke,
“Get some water.”
It was high time she stopped sleeping. Vincenzo was confused about the order Roberto gave but he wasn’t bold enough to question him.
He darted to the bathroom to get the water Roberto asked of him. There was still no exchange of words between Caterina and Roberto.
She kept caressing Martina’s face waiting patiently for her to gain consciousness.
Vincenzo hobbled back to the room with a medium-sized bowl filled with water in his hand. He got to Roberto and stopped, waiting for the next order.
“Pour it on her.”
Catering gave Roberto a hunted look immediately. Vincenzo was quizzical to the statement, though he proceeded to do what he was told.
“No! She will regain consciousness soon, we should wait.”
Caterina was worried, and she hated the idea.
“I need her to regain her consciousness now, not later. If you stay there, you’ll get wet too.”
Roberto gave Vincenzo a go-ahead look and he moved forward. Vincenzo looked at Caterina looking downcast.
She didn’t move an inch until he poured the water on Martina, wetting them both. They watched Martina’s eyes tighten, she moved and after some minutes she opened her eyes.
Caterina became so excited after seeing Martina was awake, that she gave an overwhelming hug.
Martina, still not sure of where she was examined the room with her eyes. Caterina helped her sit up, and Martina placed her hand on her forehead.
“Where are we?”
She lifted her head and her eyes fell on Roberto who had an expressionless look. Her eyes bugged out as she recalled she was still in the custody of this wicked but hot man.
They all went silent for minutes, they stared at each other with different thoughts going on in their minds. Then, Martina remembered Greta, she turned to look at Caterina who was dripping wet from the water Vincenzo poured on them.
“Greta.”
Martina called her name in a whisper and Caterina gave her a nod. Martina wasn’t sure what the nod meant but she felt if it was a bad sign, Caterina would have busted into tears.
Roberto turned to leave afterward and Vincenzo did the same.
“Why are you doing this? Aren’t you tired?”
Roberto stopped abruptly after hearing Martina talk. Vincenzo clenched his jaw in fear and looked at Martina.
Will you ever keep shut?
Roberto turned slowly to look at Martina, he bored his eyes into her. Did she just question me? Again?
He stood still thinking of what to do to her, to hurt her even more. Then an idea popped into his head, he turned to leave and this time he didn’t look back.
Vincenzo hurried after him after taking one last look at Martina.
They got to the stairs and as he descended he spoke up.
“Prepare her for the night.”
Vincenzo bowed his head and stopped walking, he gulped as Roberto walked away. As soon as he was out of sight, Vincenzo heaved a sigh and rested his back on the handrail. He knew what Roberto was talking about. He understood that sentence pretty well.
Martina would be so traumatized tonight.
“I’m sorry Martina.”
