CHAPTER 37: BAD DAY
CHELSEA
I'm here in Angel's car now. She’s driving me home to the mansion. We just finished shopping for the necessary art materials for designing Kent's outfits for his concert. We also just finished eating lunch at a restaurant. We had planned to eat at the mansion so that Angel could try Manang Fe's cooking, but we couldn't bear the hunger anymore.
"At least Red allows you to go out, beshy." Angel said while still looking at the road.
"He doesn't need to control me. I don't have any plans to leave. Especially now that we're getting along better." I defend myself.
"Wow! Don't get your hopes up too high... You might just stay where you are, and he doesn't have any plans to level up your relationship. You should clarify what you are to each other before you hope for that person." Angel added.
I immediately thought about what she said. I mean, Red hasn't clarified to me what we are yet. But he said "I love you" to me. Does that mean he loves me? He wouldn't say that if it didn't mean anything, right?
For now, I'm happy just being with him. Despite the fact that it is unclear when he will express his feelings to me, I hope the time will come when he introduces me to everyone as his legal wife and not just in a contract.
"We're here!" Angel said. I looked outside and saw that we had arrived at the mansion.
It's strange because I can't see Redemon. It's weird, but I miss our fights. After we finished shopping, Angel and I went inside. We were greeted by two housekeepers who were always following me around the previous day. They volunteered to bring our purchases to our room. I agreed, and they left to bring them to the room.
I felt thirsty, so I decided to go to the kitchen first. When Angel and I passed by the living room, I was surprised to see my Maxine, together with the two devils in this house, Madame Buenavista and Sofia.
"Hi, sister!" Maxine greeted me warmly. Their laughter stopped because of the show they were watching, and they all looked at me at the same time.
What could my clever sister be up to now, and how has she still managed to suck up to Madame Buenavista and especially Sofia? When did they become close? I ignored them and signaled to Angel to go to the kitchen and not pay attention to the three of them.
I had not yet walked far when Maxine suddenly stood up and approached me. She hugged my arm as if we were very close and there were no problems between us. "Sister, you're back. I've been expecting you since earlier. I came here to bond with you. It's good that Sofia and Madame Buenavista are kind because they let me stay here in the mansion even though you weren't here. Do you have anything else to do? Come watch this TV show with us. You'll love it too." She said to me with a smile and tried to get me to join them. "Hi sister Angel! Join us too, we'll have more fun if we have more people watching!" She added.
I don't know why, but instead of feeling happy that Maxine is acting like this, my anger only increased. I know she has something bad planned for me. I pushed her hand away, which was clinging to me, and gently pushed her away. "There's no need, I have things to do. You guys take your time and watch. Let's go to the room instead. My thirst suddenly disappeared." I said while looking at Angel.
We were about to walk back when Redemon's mother stopped me. "Stop there. You have a very thick face. You come home and don't even say hello? You're a very rude person if you act like that in front of the mother of your husband." She said while standing up with her hands on her hips.
I stopped and looked at her closely. I smiled. "Madame Buenavista, I didn't know you were interested in me now. I thought you preferred not to hear my voice because every time you hear or see me, you're like a volcano about to erupt with anger. Anyway, if you don't have anything else to say, we'll go first." I said while starting to walk away.
But Madame Beunavista was very angry and yelled. She was like a crazy person who had just been released from the mental hospital. She was so mad at me. "What kind of attitude is that? Do you think that my son's protection means you can completely overlook me? Be ashamed of yourself!" She yelled at me. I just sighed at her words. Here we go again and again. Why doesn't she just accept that I am the one her son wants, not Sofia. She is the mother, but she acts like the desperate one.
"Madam Buenavista... I don't know what your problem is with me, but if you don't want to raise your blood pressure, it's probably better if we avoid each other since you don't like me, and every time you see me, it's like I've already ruined your whole day. If you want us to have a good relationship with each other, show me first that you deserve it. Because you always get what you want, why don't you teach me how to act when you're around? If you still get high blood pressure, that's your problem, not mine." I said calmly. This only made her nostrils flare.
"You, you..." She said while angrily pointing her finger at me. It was like she wanted to shoot me or scratch me. Sofia quickly stood up and approached Redemon's mother.
"Auntie, don't get angry anymore. You know that anger can harm your health. Sit down..." Sofia said, trying to calm her down.
Maxine suddenly approached her and gently calmed her down. "Auntie, don't get angry anymore. Sister is always this kind of blunt person. It might be a bit annoying, but it's not meant to cause any harm. Calm down.”
It was like Madame Beunavista didn't hear anything. "Even if there isn't any bad intention, there isn't any good intention either. I'm getting old; I don't know what my son is thinking, but even if the daughter-in-law he brought back wants to kill me, I don't have any way to stop it... When worst comes to worst, then we'll just cover it with a big pile of dirt." She said.
I was getting fed up with what was happening. I'm never going to have a peaceful life while she's here. I hope Redemon will think about separating from her so I don't have to talk to this kind of person.
"Chelsea, you better apologize to Auntie quickly! If auntie really got injured because of her anger, Red will also have a hard time. Just think about how it will affect Red. So I hope you know how to get along.” Sofia said to me in a pleading tone.
I didn't listen to what she said. It's like I was just looking at her while everything she said just went in my left ear and out my right ear.
I just let out a sigh and contained all of my anger toward the people in front of me, hiding it deep within me. It would just be a waste of time if I were to respond to them. "I'm not doing anything wrong; why is it my fault if she gets high blood pressure because of me? Why don't you teach her to calm herself down? You guys have money anyway; why don't you just go to therapy and seek help from doctors? Maybe you'll learn how to control your attitudes. If you don't have anything nice to say, we'll leave first. We have a lot of things to do." I said and continued to go up the stairs, with Angel following me. I saw on her face that she was about to laugh, so I quickly glared at her.
…
When Chelsea and Angel went up, Madame Buenavista couldn't contain her anger and frustration. Because of this, it feels like her chest is getting tighter, and she started to feel dizzy.
"Auntie, calm down. Don't worry about Chelsea. Maxine! Please pass Auntie's tea." Sofia ordered Maxine.
Maxine quickly followed, got Madame Buenavista's hot tea and passed it to Sofia. "Auntie, don't be angry. Don't hurt your health for someone like her." Sofia tried to calm Madame Buenavista down. She gently passed the tea to Madame Buenavista, but she didn't mean to brush it off with her hand because of her rage. Sofia immediately let go of the tea, and the hot contents spilled on her foot.
"Oh, my God! I'm so sorry, Hija! Maxine! Get me the phone, quick!" Madame Buenavista shouted while worried about Sofia.
Maxine quickly got it and passed it to Madame Buenavista. "Damn! I'm so sorry, hija. I was so angry I was crazy; does it hurt?" Mrs. Buenavista asked Sofia, who was grimacing in pain.
When Mrs. Buenavista came to her senses, she quickly stood up and said, "Wait here; I'll go get medicine!" But Sofia quickly stopped her and held her hand.
"Auntie, I'm fine. If a small burn can stop you from being angry, then it's fine."
Madame Buenavista helped Sofia sit down on the couch and held her hand. "I don't know what my son's thinking; you're clearly wonderful, but he went and found that uneducated beggar." Madame Buenavista said while looking at Sofia with pity.
Sofia smiled slightly at what she said. "If Red is interested in her, then she must have something amazing that we haven't realized yet, Auntie... Now that everything has happened and can't be undone, I can only manage to catch a glimpse of him every so often.
"How can this be okay, Hija... Don't worry, I always keep my word. I will definitely make you the official daughter-in-law of my family!" Madame Buenavista assured her.
Sofia's cheeks immediately reddened at what she said. "Auntie, I really don't know what to do without you... Thank you!" She said and hugged the elderly woman.
"Wait! My son needs to know this. He can't just tolerate his wife's bad attitude." Mrs. Buenavista quickly grabbed the phone and dialed Red's number, but his line was busy. "I'll tell him next time. Maxine, can you please call the guards? Tell them to bring Sofia to the hospital." Madame Buenavista ordered Maxine. Maxine nodded and quickly left to call the guards.
