Chapter Sixteen
Dimitri grinned, and his eyes scanned her from head to toe. She wouldn't be able to hurt him, he knew that, but he would honestly love to see her try. Maybe he would get close enough to kiss her again. And God, he wanted to kiss her again. She did look really hot when she was pissed.
"Now why would I tell him about it when it's something I love so much?" he asked, with a smirk on his face. "Don't worry, it will be our little secret"
He was even more handsome when he smiled, Kelly thought. But now wasn't the time to admire the man's physical attributes. She had to stay focused.
"I asked you why you you want my dad's company" she said, dismissing the topic.
"You know already. I want to buy it, break it down, and then sell it" he said simply
"You will do no such thing" she snapped. Her eyes flashed a challenge and anger rose inside her.
"Oh you have no idea how wrong you are, hun." he said, and Kelly hated how he managed to remain so calm when she was trying so hard to keep her true feelings contained.
"That's one thing you should know about me" he continued, and leaned even closer "I can do anything I want, baby"
"I will not let you" she said adamantly.
Dimitri's proud head lifted and there was a flash in his eyes. He smiled and took another step closer, till he was a few inches away from her. Gosh, did the man even know how close he was standing? She wondered.
"Careful, or I'm going to take that as a challenge" he said smugly.
She wasn't going to back down, so she stood her ground. But he was standing so close to her that she could feel the heat of his body, burning through her clothes and, even as she fought against it, she felt her limbs weaken in an instinctive feminine response to his blatant masculinity. Even though she was wearing high heels, his height and the width of his shoulders assured that he dominated her physically. Being this close was both torment and temptation and she felt a helpless rush of wild excitement that she was powerless to quash. And she knew, from the sudden harshness of his breathing, that he was feeling it too.
Just like it had been two nights ago.
She hated that she wanted to touch him.
"Take it any way you want, but I will not sit back and let you do whatever you want with my father's company. I will not let you. You better rethink your decision. Have a nice day, Mr Collins."
Deciding that she had made her point, she made to step past him but he caught her arm, long strong fingers closing over her hand in a silent command.
"Oh cut the crap, Dimitri thundered, "Will you stop that" he said, "You and I both know it's useless to pretend that we haven't met before now. So will you please cut the 'Mr Collins' crap? I hate when you do that....It's just too formal. Call me Dimitri for fucks sake"
With his hard masculine body blocking her escape, she felt the hot, hot sizzle of excitement flare inside her.... And ignored it. She struggled to control the throb in her heart and the slow, delicious curl of awareness in her stomach. This feelings weren't real. They didn't matter. It was just physical, she told herself.
As if he hadn't wrecked enough havoc on her senses, he leaned closer to her, his breath warm on her cheek, towards her ear, where he whispered softly, "You didn't have a problem calling me that two nights ago"
His voice was a soft, seductive purr, making her heart thump with rhythmic force against her chest.
She snatched her hand away from his. "Don't you dare tell me what I should or should not call you. You didn't even know my name until Thirty minutes ago" she said smoothly smoothly, stepping aside so that she could walk past him, "And now I need to go and...."
"You are not going anywhere" he said. He caught her round the waist and jerked her towards him.
Standing here with her, frustration and anger a hum in his blood, Dimitri couldn’t deny the presence of the third emotion swirling in his body. Lust. For the plush mouth set in a firm, unsmiling line. For the full breasts that had filled his palms to overflowing that night. For the long, thick legs that fitted perfectly in her skirt. For the sex that had clutched him like a lover’s embrace.
She lifted a hand in an instinctive gesture of defense, but it was too late. Her body had felt the hard brush of his thighs and responded instantly
She shook her head and clear the clouds of dizziness and sucked in a lungfull of air but even that was a mistake because the air contained the delicious, erotic scent of him and the clouds around her brain just grew denser.
“Now it's really not fair for you to say that.” he said silkly. His mouth only a breath away from hers, and Kelly wondered if he was going to kiss her....was she going to let him if he tried to?
He cocked his head, studying her impassive face through narrowed eyes.
"You didn’t tell me. I told you mine"
The tension between them was overwhelming. Struggling to control herself, she held herself rigid in his arms, "You didn't ask" she said, and pushed with all her strength until he released her, "Probably because you are using to having one night stands with strangers every night"
"Well, I didn't have time to ask, since you practically kicked me out of your car immediately we were done and yet I'm not fighting you about it" he scoffed, then added, "Wow, people think I'm mean, they should meet you. If there's any one here who should be accusing anyone of using people for one night stands, it's me "
Kelly realized how rude she must have seemed that night. It wasn't that she wanted to embarrass him, but the truth was that she'd been ashamed that night.... Ashamed that she had let go of herself so completely, with a stranger for that matter. But that was not a good excuse to make him leave the way she did. She knew she would have been very upset if he had done that to her.
