Chapter 35: Confession and apology
The red sports car stopped at the top of the mountain. By this time it was already dawn, but the sun could not be seen yet. Regina was still sitting on Darryl's lap, looking into the distance.
"This place...it's beautiful."
Regina couldn't help but exclaim. Dineh said this could see the whole city, the houses were now small like small mushrooms, some of the houses had their lights on and flickered like twinkling stars.
"If you like, I'll take you here every day to watch the sunrise."
Regina was about to say yes when she suddenly realized that something wasn't quite right. Since when had Darryl Rider talked to her so gently. She didn't feel very trustworthy, so she raised her head to look at him, at which point she found that he was still staring at her. Darryl's gaze made her heart skip a beat, and once again she had to remind herself not to trust those amorous gazes.
"And you said you wanted to explain it to me. I'm waiting."
"That's right. I've made a decision. Why don't we try to fall in love?"
"Huh?" Regina couldn't believe what her ears had just heard, her face went blank.
"I used to think that as long as no one found out that you were my precious treasure, they wouldn't touch you or bother you. But I was wrong. Ever since I decided to marry you, I might have put you in danger."
Darryl opens up about what he's been hiding from her all this time. Regina listened silently, she felt like the man holding her in her arms was a completely different person than the Darryl Rider she had known before. He had gathered the sharp thorns in his personality, revealing his hesitations in telling her how much he liked her. Darryl's eyes were filled with panic because Regina wouldn't respond to him, and his voice wasn't as hard and strong as usual, but much softer.
"About the lies and bad things I've done to you, I know I can't fix it, so I want to say I'm sorry. I want to make it up to you, no matter what." Darryl squeezed his arm and held Regina in his lap. "Say something, Regina, your silence really worries me."
“I…” Regina stammered speechlessly.
This came so suddenly, Regina didn't know how she should react. After all the humiliation and heartache she had to endure, now Darryl said it was just a lie he created to protect her.
"You're crazy." Regina turned around and gave Darryl a massive slap as if she wanted to vent her patience. "What do you want me to say? Thank you for admitting your mistake? Or sorry for not understanding you?"
Darryl didn't respond, he knew Regina needed to release her long-standing oppression and discomfort, so he let her beat him in the chest, even scratching his neck with her fingernails. He silently looked at her, implicitly allowing her to do whatever she wanted, anyway, this slight pain was not as penetrating as what he used to treat her.
"You can hit me every day if you want, as long as it does away with the hurt I've caused you." Darryl spoke softly.
After a while, Regina finally calmed down, she gasped and lowered her head.
"Why me?"
"I don't know why it's you either? Maybe it's because you're like a very special person to me."
Darryl pulled a photo from his pocket. It was a picture of a young and elegant woman, whose shiny brown hair and shining eyes made her look like an angel. The woman was holding a newborn baby boy, her eyes full of love.
"This is your mother." Darryl showed the photo to Regina. "She died shortly after giving birth to me, and I grew up in an orphanage."
Regina looked at the picture, Darryl's mother was really beautiful when she was alive, but more than that, she had many similarities with her. Regina appears to be the older brother of Darryl's mother when she was young. Regarding his mother's death, Regina actually knew the reason through Charles.
"From the first time I met you, I knew that I probably couldn't fall in love with any other woman but you. I was afraid of my enemies harming you, so I hurt you and told you never to love me. Now I realize how stupid I really am. I'd rather admit I love you and protect you with all my heart than to see you intimidated by my enemies even though I hid you under my wings."
"Darryl..." Regina touched his lips to make him stop talking. She understood everything, how complicated his emotional mind was.
She stared at him intently, she could sense his pain and patience when he had to reveal the things he'd kept hidden for so long. He once lost his loved ones, so his extreme personality, the way he protects the one he loves is also rude and not gentle.
But somehow now, Regina fell in love with this rude and stupid man.
Regina lifted her body slightly and kissed him softly on the lips.
"Now, let's learn to love each other."
This is probably the first time Regina has taken the initiative in making love, she grabbed Darryl's collar and pulled him close to her then passionately kissed him. Perhaps Darryl didn't expect Regina to be so bold, but he really enjoyed her contrasting personality.
He kissed her back, thrusting his tongue deep into her mouth and licking inside, squeezing her soft tongue. Regina was forcefully kissing him at first, later she was a bit exhausted and found it hard to breathe but couldn't push Darryl's chest.
While confused and trying to breathe, Darryl stripped her shirt. He squeezed her boobs from the outside of her bra.
"Uhm... ah..." Regina couldn't help but moan, she held Darryl's hand but couldn't stop him from continuing to tease her body.
"Why do you always smell so good?" Darryl rested his head on Regina's neck and inhaled her scent. If Regina is an opiate, Darryl is probably addicted.
The two of them greeted the dawn together.
Two naked bodies pressed together, Darryl's tongue trailing over Regina's smooth and supple body. He caressed her, occasionally burying his face in her plump boobs and sucking incessantly. If it weren't for Regina's embarrassment and stopping Darryl, they would have made love in the car.
After that day, Darryl and Regina's love relationship officially began, they both had quite a bit of experience with dating, but that didn't stop them from indulging in passionate love.
Regina is one of the hottest female singers at the moment, she is invited to participate in many shows and interviews. Darryl is also busy managing his casinos and bars.
Their hectic schedules leave them with little time to see each other.
After a show that ended at midnight, Regina tiredly sat in Myrna's car. She used to text Darryl because they couldn't see each other for a few days. They have an appointment to go home together tonight. Thinking about meeting Darryl soon, Regina's fatigue lessened somewhat, a smile flickered across her lips.
At this moment, the front of the car was hit hard. Regina sat in the car and fell on the seat and her mind was dizzy.
She opened the car door and went down to see two people wearing masks and cap hats jumping out of the car that had just crashed into her car. They approached her and grabbed her and pinned her to the ground.
"Who are you? What are you going to do? Someone help me. Myrna, help me."
Regina screamed in panic, her body was pinned by the man on the ground and unable to move, the other man lifted her sleeve to do something. At this moment, some strangers appeared and beat the other two mysterious men. Chaos broke out, the two sides rushed to fight until two men wearing masks climbed into the car and escaped.
Regina sat on the ground dumbfounded, still unable to understand what had just happened to her. Myrna ran from inside the show's backstage and sat down next to Regina, reassured her and then rushed her to the hospital.
Police then went to the hospital to ask Regina about the attack and promised to find the two men who suddenly attacked Regina.
Perhaps the only lucky thing was that Regina was not seriously injured, only a slight scratch on her elbow.
“Fuck, I guess those two are your crazy fans, Regina.” Myrna said angrily. "They don't steal your stuff, so they're definitely not robbers. Also, they don't mean to hit you, so there's a good chance they're crazed fans trying to get close to you."
After that, Myrna continued to babble about going to the general manager of the artist management company so that he could arrange a separate group of bodyguards for Regina. According to Myrna, with Regina's increasing popularity, it is certain that from now on, more and more fanatical fans will annoy Regina.
Regina nodded vaguely, seeming to agree with Myrna, but in reality, she was still thinking about the situation at that time. Those two masked men coming to her must have had a purpose, not simply because they were crazy fans. Regina assumed that they had planned and watched her for a long time before proceeding to attack her.
Regina's schedule is quite secret, except for Myrna and a few employees of Lightning Company, no one knows, not even Darryl knows about Regina's schedule. This proves that the two masked men must have been following her for a long time and they planned to do something.
That doubt made Regina nervous, but she had no choice but to rely on the police and pay attention to her own safety.
