Strange Place

Jenna/ Sr. Claire's POV

'I think people in this town are not normal,' I keep telling myself as I sit there in Mr. Odega's home with my fingers fiddling together and eyes wandering around the house. I am waiting for him as he went upstairs to change.

Mr. Odega after pulling me out of the room brought me straight to his home. There was no one here except a maid and his driver.

His house is three blocks away from the house of Mr. McCarthy. It's a modern designed house from the outside but inside, it is filled with those classic antiques. There's a huge transformation of the outside from the inside of his home. It feels like you are back in those days when you live accordingly to etiquette.

Except for the huge wolf's portrait on the hall that growls with blood dripping from its teeth, sort of scaring me a little. It feels like the wolf is watching me while I sat there alone.

From what I see around this town, the people sure are obsessed with wolves. "Oh no, what if they are wolves...oh Lord I do not want to be anyone's breakfast or dinner." I began to panic now with these kinds of thoughts consuming my mind. It grew worse when I think of those werewolves and vampires' movies.

'Oh shoot, what if they are real. I mean I saw one today, right? Or was I being delusional.' No, I can't think like that I have to stay positive.

Unfortunately, the more I look at the wolf's portrait, the more I have all kinds of horror scenarios in my head.

"Sr. Claire," Mr. Odega interrupted my train of awful thoughts.

I turn up to find him coming from the stairs. I gulp nervously at the sight of him because what he's wearing is not helping at all. I mean why is he dressed in such a way, was not back in the 18th century? The suit he wears was like the one you've seen in the 18th-century movies.

'Okay, maybe it's just his lifestyle' I try to convince myself.

"Sr. Claire," he said my name again.

"Yes, Mr. Oldega," I quickly replied and stand upright.

"Are you alright?" he asks with concern.

"A little bit, I am sorry it's just everything has been eventful," I regretted my last word.

"Eventful?" he questionably raised his brow.

"Yeah, umm moving here and people giving me strange look and then Mrs. Harrison calling me Jenna," I explain with the hope that he doesn't see right through me. I am hiding one secret, or should I say my hallucination of the things I saw today. Do not want to die in this town. Mr. Oldega look relaxed and came to sit on the couch opposite me.

"Oh dear, trust me you are nothing like Jenna, or should I say a better version of her," said Odega.

"The girl was an empty living shell," he added on with a sad expression on his face.

The girl's name Jenna made me sad and somehow, I wanted to know more about her. The look on Odega's face as he talks of her tells me there's more to this Jenna's story. I wonder what happened and I am curious to find out more about her.

"Anyways, let us not talk of that," he smiles at me changing the topic. We then talk for a while, then the maid brings me tea and cake which taste heavenly.

"Sir Mr. Hill is here to drop off Je- I mean Sr. Claire's stuff," the maid nervously said.

Mr. Odega for a second looked at her as if he was about to kill her but he suddenly hid it with a smile. "Send him in," he tells her. The maid did not move she stand there.

"Yes, Valeria. What did I tell you?"

"Sir. Mr. Hill said he can't he has to take the kids to town" she replies, and I could tell that she is nervous.

Mr. Odega looks at the maid with a forced smile and said, "tell him to come in with the kids. I want to see the kids."

"Yes sir."

She hurried away and after a minute the same man named Shawn came inside the house. We both exchanged a smile, and I couldn't take my eyes off him. I know I shouldn't stare but my eyes cannot be controlled, especially when it's damn looking at a handsome face.

"Shawn please take a seat," Odega offered, and Shawn went and sit on the other couch facing us both.

"Children, why don't you come and give papa Odega a hug?"

Mr. Odega opens up his arms and I look aside to find the kids all staring at me. I didn't know they were there but by the looks of it, one of them is Shawn's kid cause he's a replica of him. Yet, I won't assume in case I might be wrong.

"Mommy?" the replica of Shawn said.

He's around seven or nine with blonde hair and dark grey eyes. I cannot be anyone's mommy, right? I open my mouth in shock about to say something when another voice stops me.

"Jenna" the teenage boy exclaimed. I would say that he is a replica of Colby except for his hair color, which is blonde.

"Sweety aunty," a young angelic girl with jet black hair and blue eyes bubbly said.

The two men in the room sat there in silence. This made me utterly shocked, and I can't move around in my seat. It's like I am glued to it.

"Kids, now let's not do this to Sr. Claire," Odega said.

Finding my voice, I look at the replica of Shawn and the angel who are about to cry and spoke. "Ohhh, I am sorry kid that I am not your mommy or Ms. Jenna but I can be your aunty." I wink at the young angel who surprisingly fought her tears and gave me a huge smile.

She runs in my direction ignoring Mr. Odega and jumps on my lap. I hug her and pinch her cheeks 'awwww cute."

"Hans," Shawn called to the young kid who runs into his arms.

The teenager moves around and went to sit beside Odega. I wanted to call Hans to come to sit on my other lap, but he avoids looking at me.

"What's your name cutie?" I ask the little angel who plays with her doll on my lap. Mr. Odega and Shawn were talking but my focus is solely on the little angel.

"I am Sora, pweencess Sora and that's brother Hans and my big brother Damon," she said, pointing to the teenager. I look at Hans, but he was holding onto his father tight. He didn't even glance at me.

"How old are you?" I ask again and she counted her fingers showing me four fingers.

The maid serves tea and cakes which Sora excitedly eats no matter what her brother Damon warns her not to. She stubbornly took a bite of it and then poke out her tongue at him making me laugh. I play with her around and I feel bad for Hans, but the kid didn't seem to want to talk to me. Maybe I shouldn't tell him I wasn't his mommy. I think I was pretty too harsh.

"Mr. Odega, Sr, Claire I believe it's time for us to leave." I look up to Shawn who still has Hans in his arms. Sora hugs me tightly and I pick her up and walk toward Shawn.

"I am sorry, I shouldn't have told him I wasn't-"

"it's okay, Sr. Claire and I am sorry about their behavior earlier."

"No worries, they are just children. So please don't be too hard on him," I said, and he simply nod.

Odega and I walk them out of the door with Sora still in my arms. I follow behind Shawn as he moves to put Hans in the backseat, then he turns around and takes Sora from my arms.

"Thank you," he said.

"No problem, Shawn" I reply.

He got into the car to start the engine when Oldega said out of the blue, "please come and pick up Sr. Claire tomorrow. I have somewhere to be a way to for two days".

I look at him confused. "Sir I think you forgot my concern is you and the reason why I am in this town is you, right?" I ask.

"Of course, Sr. but do you see me sick," said Odega.

He is right about it. The man can walk and pretty much do things on his own. I don't see the reason for me to be here.

"Then should I call Mother superior and ask her to send someone to get me?"

"Definitely a no child. I am just away for two days. Colby and Shawn will love to have you around. I will discuss it with you tonight over dinner and as for tomorrow and the day afterward you need to enjoy."

He put his hand around me and squeeze it.

Shawn let out a sigh "okay, will talk with Colby then. See you tomorrow" he waves goodbye and drive away.

I turn to go inside the house when I catch something moving fast from the corner of my eye. I look around on alert but there is nothing. I look at the house across the street and see a figure moving behind the window curtain.

'I think this town is haunted' I thought to myself.

"Sr. Claire" I look back to find Oldega looking at me with concern "are you alright?"

"Perfectly fine" I replied with a smile.

".... or not" I mutter the last two words to myself. I think I am going crazy since I am hearing and seeing strange things in this town.
