Last Duel
Andrea’s POV
“Xylo is up to something these days,” I heard Luigi say, the second strongest wolf in our pack, talking to his sister omega.
I crossed my brows out of curiosity. I haven’t seen Xylo for the past few days. I got so busy hunting some of the daggers that tried to harm me after my last duel. I cannot forgive them for having the guts to throw some daggers towards me that day. I have to watch near their territory to find those bastards.
I guess I was so busy these days that I was not able to visit Xylo. I did spend some time also to calm down my nerves and forget the feeling that I experienced when I saw his frightening facial expression during my last match. Now that I am here in their castle, he is out of touch. I kind of missed him.
“Give him a break,” said Gracia, the third amongst the powerful leaders. She is known as the Omega.
Luigi protested like some child who has lost his toys. Luigi and Xylo are completely different from each other. Xylo looks ruthless on the outside, he is also surrounded by some cold aura. He rarely smiles and gives off his emotion.
Luigi, on the other hand, has a childish side. He doesn’t look as ruthless as his brother but he might also give you terror if he gets serious. He likes to smile and talk, too. I don’t care about him, though. I am only interested in his brother alone. I have no time dealing with this family.
“I’m starting to get bored at the stadium.” Luigi said childishly.
When beta and omega noticed my presence, they stopped talking. Luigi only nodded at me as a sign that he recognized me. Gracia, on the other hand, did not bother to talk or look at me. This bitch. I will be running this castle together with Xylo soon, pay some respect…What a brat…
I faked my smile, trying to look cheerful in front of them. “Do you know where the alpha is?” I asked with a cheerful tone.
“No idea,” said Luigi. He then left the room with his hands in his pocket. Jerk.
I looked at Gracia to know some details about his brother, but she did not answer me again. She just shrugged her shoulders and shifted her gaze at the book that she is holding.
I rolled my eyes. If only I could yell at them, I would. Right now, I need to be a nice woman with a warm heart to avoid some conflicts in their family. Once Xylo and I are married, I will definitely make them pay for treating me like some ordinary wolf.
Where is Xylo? He must not roam around alone. I could see a lot of wolves wanting to have him. I must protect my property, whatever it takes.
Clary’s POV
‘Ready, Cordia?’ I asked as I dive in the river.
‘Motivated, huh?’ There she is again, teasing me for some reason.
I smiled, she was right. I don’t know, I have the energy to follow his orders today. It was as if all the exhaustion and fatigue from yesterday’s training had been taken away. I feel so recharged and alive.
I am not aware how long I can swim; I just did what he said like some puppy trying to impress her owner. However, in our case, I will be the one who will get the benefits from following his order. I need to be strong, my next match is approaching.
Though, I am not sure if swimming will really help me in my next match. Maybe, it would help me boost my stamina? Or will it make my thighs and shoulders a little bit stronger? Now that I thought of it, these two reasons might be the answer to my question.
Unlike running that only enhances my thighs, swimming will strengthen both my things and shoulders. It is much more intense, the water current in the river adds stress to my muscles. It requires more energy to conquer than in running. Thus, it could actually strengthen my body in a short period of time.
I got motivated with the thought of it. Sounds reasonable.
I thought that he would again order me to swim, the reason why I am prepared with swimming trunks and a fitted shirt. I don’t want to wear a shirt, as much as possible, I want to wear long sleeves but I have no fitted long sleeves that will allow me to swim freely.
My fitted shirt reveals some of the scars that I received in my last duel and with the last encounter with daggers. My body is full of scars, the reason why I am ashamed to stand in front of Alpha Xylo with me exposing my skin. It only proves that I am too weak.
I rose up from the river when I felt that my legs were already cramping from excessive swimming. I found alpha already looking at me. He is now sitting in the grass with his legs crossed.
“2 hours and 38 minutes…”
I frowned, unable to understand him. Is he ordering me to swim again?
‘Silly, that’s the time you spent swimming.’ Cordia said.
I nodded. Wait…that was long! I did not expect that two hours had passed. I thought it was only a half of an hour…
I bit my lip to hide my smile. I guess, I am improving? I tried to hide my smile from that thought. I am so happy that I was able to do that. Yesterday, I only swam for about two hours and I thought that it would be the death of me.
He handed me again my bow and arrow. He then pointed at some birds in a tree.
I take that as his order. I nervously grabbed my bow and aimed again for the bird in the tree. I am sure that my arrow will miss again. It would be another embarrassment of mine…
