Clary's POV
I was unable to move with the words that I heard from my cousin. It was too unexpected that he will be here and that he will find us. I am not sure if he is looking for me, because I know for sure that I am already dead and that no one knows that I am here...or he was just visiting the Northeast mountains, but that sounded absurd. What will he be doing in this place? It was far from the place where homer's pack is residing.
The time froze at that moment, and I couldn't composed myself because it was an unexpected time to hear his name. I was only able to moved when my cousin let go of his hug, which is probably covering my face from the view of Alpha. Marcus immediately grabbed my hand after his hug and he dashed instantly away from the crowd where we are staying. His move made me run, too...but I am not really sure if I am running that well because I am too preoccupied with the thoughts about him.
"Go that way," Marcus pointed an alley full of wolves who were enjoying the night.
"I will be diverting the attention of his men." He added as he let go of my hand and dashed towards the other direction.
I was a bit hesitant, unable to decide of the thing that I should do. However, with all the adrenaline rushing over my body, the fight or flight is probably kicking, I followed what Marcus has told and ran as I could in the alley.
There were some wolves who have noticed me and probably confused why I am running that fast. I couldn't care, though. I need to get out of this place as soon as possible, I couldn't be seen alive especially by other members of the family of leaders. They will only leak the information and it will surely be known by Andrea. I couldn't let that happen.
I am not really familiar with this place, especially that it is my first time coming here. I am not sure where to head and all that I did was to just follow the alley and it has lead me to a dark forest. There were no visible lights inside and only the moon which has completely turned red is the source of light.
The forest was not that frightening as compared with the possibility of me being exposed to the family of leaders, who is devoted to Andrea. The last thing that I want to happen right now is that Andrea will be informed that I am alive. It will only endanger my life, which right now is not my concern, and it might also harm my family who has accepted me for who I am. I couldn't afford losing them, they are the only ones that I have right now.
I was inside the forest, with the moon illuminating above, when I heard some growl of an animal that I am not familiar with. I shifted away from the direction where I heard that growl, with me still inside the forest. I am not sure where I am heading in this way, I could only run for my life.
But everything that I am planning and wishing has suddenly diminished when I felt a cold hand gripping in my arm. With the speed that I could run, the gripped in my arm made me almost stumble out of my feet.
"Fuck!" That was the only thing that I could say, in the middle of this forest, when I saw him holding my left arm. I thought I have already gone far from the town where we are staying earlier. I thought I have already escaped from him. I thought I am doing good at running and hiding from him. It was only a false hope and it made me really irritated and afraid for the fact that my plans are starting to collapse right here.
His amber eyes darkened when he saw my reaction, his jaw clenched for that moment, too...and it made him looked even more ruthless than before. I couldn't understand his emotions aside from that, the night was too dark to know his expressions.
"Let go of me!" I hissed as I struggle to get out of his grip, it wasn't that tight but I cannot let go of it. I couldn't think of anything that could make me escape of this situation.
His eyes darkened even more as I continuously try my best to get out of his grip. He did not let go, though. I could feel his heavy breathing. When he tilted his head and clenched his jaw, I saw some wounds and bruises at the corner of his lip. I was surprised to see those, I have never seen him wounded.
"Clary..." He whispered with the tone that I couldn't understand, it was a mixture of several expressions that I couldn't say because it might make me soft. He looked at me, with his eyes now looking bloodshot. He gulped while looking at me, and I am not sure what does it mean.
His ruthless facial features with a mixture of bloodshot in his eyes was never a good combination, it is making me soft and I am hating myself for that. I couldn't be vulnerable, not when I lost our child because of the woman he intended to marry. I couldn't betray my own child for that. I shouldn't do that to my child.
With my other hand, I withdraw the dagger hidden in my sleeves. I immediately pointed it to him, "let go of me!" I screamed once again.
His eyes turned into the dagger that I was holding right in front of him, he was probably surprised to see me holding a dagger that his grip loosen a bit. He probably did not imagine it.
I was about to run once again, but his grip tightened once again.
