Veronica patiently waited for the meal but when the maid returned, she was surprised, "A bowl of water? Didn't you say lunch?"
"Mr. Cage told me to give you water and it will serve a meal."
Veronica can't believe what Nick did.
If she does not consume anything, she will starve to death in less than a week.
She had escaped the wine cellar, which was a successful plan by the way, but she did not expect that she will be just tortured differently.
"Where is Nick? I want to see him. " Veronica said weakly in anger.
"Mr. Cage is in the King Group." The maid replied and left.
Veronica felt angrier, she does not want to be fed with fresh water for the rest of her life.
She realized that Nick is torturing her, now she plans to leave and escape from Nick's cruelty.
Veronica looked at the water in the bowl and thought it was better than to drink nothing at all.
After drinking, she lifted the quilt and got out of bed.
She felt dizzy for a moment and felt like she was floating. She went out of the room and headed directly to the stairs.
She held on to the rail and walked down step by step, weakly.
Veronica was out of breath when she reached halfway down the stairs. No wonder he installed an elevator; the staircase was spiral, luxurious, and magnificent but is very long and high.
It was not easy for Veronica to walk down but she gathered all the strength she had left and gone straight out of the hall.
But when she was just about to go out, a bodyguard in black stopped her.
"Get out of the way. I am leaving." Veronica said feebly.
The bodyguard was silent and stood motionless in front of her like a wall.
The man was so sturdy that she cannot pass through him even if she tries.
"Do you not hear me? I want to leave! " Veronica used her strength and raised her voice so hard and felt dizzy. She closed her eyes and composed herself.
Bob came over and told her, "Miss Parker, Mr. Cage told me to not let you out."
"Why can't I go out? How long are you going to lock me up? " Veronica asked patiently with anger in her eyes.
"Mr. Cage didn't say but you can ask him if you dare. "
"Do you think I won't dare? I'll ask him myself!" Veronica turned, walked into the hall, and sat down on the sofa.
Her eyes were dazzled by all the lights. She sat and patiently waited for Nick to come back.
Veronica leaned against the sofa. She was so weak and was even struggling to catch her breath as if the water did no help.
She hasn't had anything to eat for three days straight.
Nick was so ruthless and it looks like he has no room for negotiation.
Her memory suddenly flashed in her mind. Veronica opened her eyes was stunned when she remembered what she did after Nick threw her into the bathroom.
She was lucky enough to survive after what she has done.
Veronica closed her eyes passively and wondered why things had come to this.
She laid down on the sofa like she was already dead.
She felt too weak to sit and spent the whole afternoon on the sofa waiting for Nick.
Bob ignored Veronica's unruly behavior. It was only her second time stepping foot in the Winter Villa but Bob can see that she is extraordinary. In his thoughts he wondered, Veronica is the first woman Mr. Cage has ever brought to the villa, but it doesn't seem like they have a romantic connection.
