Chapter 141 Parting Gift
Chapter 141 Parting Gift
"Even if it is."
Veronica Parker's beautiful face frowned slightly.
"What do you mean by even if it is?"
"Now that we have broken up, we are strangers and I don't want to be entangled with you anymore," Veronica said.
"Doesn't it affect you at all?"
She once had feelings for Toby Cage. He was the only one beside her Grandma to warm her heart. How could she be unaffected by the breakup?
How much did she like this person and how much did she hate him?
Veronica was still in a trance when Toby pulled her wrist towards him. When she came to her senses, she saw a bracelet on her hand.
It was different from the one Nick Cage gave her.
"What are you doing? "
"Here you go."
"I don't want it!" Veronica said. She was about to unfasten it from her wrist.
Toby grabbed her hands and said, "I am a generous person. This will serve as a breakup gift so you do not mention to others that your ex-boyfriend was stingy. If you will not accept it, it means that you want to get back together with me."
"Aren't you thinking too much?"
"Anyway since you accepted Nick, it doesn't matter if I want to," Toby said calmly.
Veronica Parker was angry.
"Keep it on." Toby let go of her wrist.
Veronica gritted her teeth. She would wear it now and she would throw it away after.
"The next time we meet, if I won't see the bracelet, I'll ask why."
Veronica's expression froze.
Toby saw through Veronica's mind.
Delicious food was served on the table. Unexpectedly, most of them were Veronica's favorite food, especially the beef dish. He ordered two, it was fresh and juicy, very appetizing.
But Veronica Parker was not in the mood to eat.
"I have accepted the bracelet. Can I go now?" Veronica asked.
"Don't go until you finish eating."
Veronica can't figure him out. She wanted to make their breakup clear to Toby but why was he doing this?
And she even received a bracelet.
What on earth was this Toby doing?
She was not seeking for them to get back together but his behavior really puzzled her.
"Toby, we broke up, but I didn't hate you much. We hit it off even if we didn't get along. I also hope you can be happy in the future. Suzanne Roland is a good woman. Don't treat her like how you treated me before." Veronica said.
Toby's eyes rippled with a strange luster, "Do you want me to be happy?"
"Yes."
Toby put down his cutlery. He got up, went behind Veronica, leaned over, and hugged her tight.
Veronica froze. Toby's move was familiar to her. It was as if she was his only true love.
Then she heard Toby Cage whispered in her ear, "Veronica."
Veronica, whose heartbeat missed half a beat, stood up in a panic and pushed him away. "I'm going to the bathroom!"
With that, she turned around and left.
Toby stood there, his eyes closed, he didn't know what to think. He was silent.
Veronica was swearing at Toby Cage as she walked to the bathroom.
What was wrong with that man's brain? Why did he do that to her and he even called her so affectionately?
She was no longer his Veronica!
Veronica was about to enter the bathroom when his cell phone rang.
She took it out, the number was unregistered but the number was very familiar to her.
It was from Nick Cage!
Why was he calling her at this time?
Veronica did not want to answer the call but she hurriedly got into the bathroom and answered the phone, "Mr. Cage."
"Come out."
Veronica was stupefied for a moment and she gasped for breath. "Are you at the gate of the community? I don't want to go out tonight. Isabella is here!"
"Do you want me to fetch you in person?"
"Don't! I'm going down but wait for a minute because I'm still in the shower." With that, Veronica hung up the phone.
As soon as she hung up, she rushed out of the bathroom and she almost bumped into the person who was outside the door. The person thought that there was something terrible happening in the bathroom.
