Chapter 142 Run
Chapter 142 Run
For Veronica Parker, any incident would not compare to the horror Nick Cage made her feel.
She bypassed Toby Cage and ran straight out of the restaurant!
She wanted to take a taxi all the way because it was convenient but that time was rush hour so there would be traffic jams and she won't be able to get home for an hour.
If she would take the subway, it would only take ten minutes for her to come home.
Veronica ran desperately towards the subway station.
She was now regretting that she never worked so hard in the high school physical exam!
Veronica Parker ran to the subway station, bought a ticket, and got on the subway. She was squeezed into the corner, leaned against the side, and gasped for breath.
Nick Cage would wait directly at the entrance of her neighborhood because he was sure that she was at home. After all, she left her bracelet at home.
Veronica was glad that she thought about it before she met Toby.
Otherwise, the place where Nick Cage would be waiting for her was not at the entrance of their neighborhood but at the high-end restaurant where she and Toby went.
Veronica's heartbeat never slowed down on her way to the subway station.
Even if she already calculated the time, she was still afraid.
His black Rolls-Royce was parked on the side of the road. It was domineering and intimidating.
Nick was in the back seat and he was waiting for a long time already. He looked at his watch, changed his position, leaned lazily against the seat, and closed his unfathomable black eyes.
Veronica was gone but Toby was still waiting for her at the restaurant.
He was waiting for Veronica for too long already. He went to the bathroom to check and looked for her everywhere but he still did not see Veronica.
He didn't have to call her to know that she was gone.
Toby returned to his seat and sat in a trance. He looked out of the window, his eyes out of focus.
Veronica came out of the subway station and ran to the neighborhood non-stop.
She peeked at the front door around the corner and sure enough, she saw the frightening luxury car of Nick.
There were also two bodyguard cars in the back. It was in a formidable position and it exuded a warning to strangers not to be near.
Veronica Parker couldn't enter through the front door.
She turned and ran to the other door and ran straight to her unit.
She hasn't reached the door of the unit yet when she was welcomed by the cute voices of her kids.
"Mom!"
"Mom!"
"Mom!"
"Mom!"
"Mom!"
"Mom!"
Peter, who was taken downstairs by Isabella to play in the entertainment facilities of the community saw his Mother and his eyes sparkled. He felt extremely happy from a distance.
They immediately used their short legs and ran towards Veronica with their hands open as if they were taking off.
Veronica dared not to squat down, for fear that as soon as she squatted down, she would be knocked down by her six little ones. She would be forced to roll to the ground with them.
After all, it was not their home.
The six little ones hugged her legs and surrounded her. They were bouncing around her and they were very happy.
Isabella looked at Veronica, she saw that Veronica was out of breath and she asked, "What's the matter with you? Aren't you going to dinner with us?"
"Isabella, I have something urgent to do now. There can be no delay." Veronica Parker said to Peter, "Mom has something to do now. I'll come back and play with you later."
With that, she ran upstairs.
Peter looked at his Mom who was running upstairs with a question mark on his face.
Cathy said happily, "Come on, Mom!"
Veronica Parker almost fell on the steps with she turned around and saw the depressed look on the kid's face.
When she reached the fifth floor, Veronica was so tired. It was almost as if she was climbing with both hands and feet.
"Ah. I'm exhausted! " Veronica wailed.
She finally arrived at her destination and pushed the door into the house.
The bracelet was on the porch.
Veronica Parker took off the bracelet that was given by Toby and replaced it with one given by Nick.
She couldn't just go to see Nick.
Earlier, she told him that she was taking a bath so she had to pretend that she had just taken a bath.
She wetted her hair a little and her face also, which was red from running. It looked as if she had just taken a bath.
Veronica walked quickly out of the neighborhood and one of the bodyguards got out of the car and opened the door for her.
