Chapter 154 There Won't Be Such Day
"I wanted to use them to distract you. So I can get away from you."
"Away from me?" Nick asked with an unfathomable face.
"Toby thought I was trying to compete with other women for you. He told me I wasn't as fancy as they are to compete." Veronica confronted Nick's cold black eyes and added "I told him it did not matter to me. And then he left and that's all we've talked about."
After Veronica spoke, the air was suddenly filled with terrible silence, they can hear their own breath and heartbeat.
Veronica felt so nervous, her palms began to sweat. She was puzzled whether Nick believed her or not.
Nick walked towards her until his shadow enveloped Veronica.
He stretched his hand, clamped her jaw, and raised it, forcing her to look at his face. Nick broke the silence and asked her with a threatening voice, "Do you still want to escape me, huh?"
Veronica stabilized her uneasiness and boldly replied, "I will make you give up on me. That's different from running away."
Nick glared at her and said, "Don't worry, there won't be such a day."
Veronica's eyes lost their glimmer while looking at his terrible eyes and felt suffocated.
Nick released her and turned away.
Veronica sighed in relief, she tried to catch a breath and she felt her forehead sweat.
That was so close.
Nick walked out of the station and Veronica followed.
There was a Rolls Royce waiting for them outside the door. Nick's car made him look more daunting.
Nick got in the car first and he left the passenger door open for Veronica.
When she was about to go in, she saw a silver Ferrari parked on the corner.
Veronica paused for a moment and forced herself to go inside.
The car started and they went on their way.
Veronica turned her head and looked out of the window. She watched the silver Ferrari go father from them until it was out of her sight. The oppressive ambiance in the car made her feel distracted.
Nick glared at her and she felt chills go through her skin when he asked, "What were you looking at?"
Veronica honestly replied, "I saw Toby's car."
When Nick asked her, she knew he saw it too.
Veronica thought Toby had already left the station and did not expect his car still parked there.
She thought he was just waiting for Suzanne.
"I think Toby's waiting for Suzanne," Veronica added.
Nick corrected her, "You should address him as Master Cage."
Veronica subconsciously faced him and stared at his black eyes. "Well, he should be called Master Cage." He explained.
Veronica felt a pinch in her heart when she realized how big the gap is between her and Master Cage.
Toby, who was sitting in his car, had a sullen face and protruding veins on the back of his hand when he saw Veronica go inside Nick's car.
He felt suffocated. He went out and slammed the door with annoyance.
Nick's car stopped in front of Veronica's house.
Veronica glanced cautiously at Nick, "Thank you, Mr. Cage, for sending me home. I'll go ahead now." She sighed and prepared to get out of the car.
But when she was about to get up she felt her wrist tighten and fell into Nick's arms.
His strong physique made her fluster, "Ah! Mr. Cage."
Nick looked straight into her eyes and said, "I'm guessing you will receive a call."
Veronica looked at him in a daze, "A call from who?"
And she thought he was talking about Toby.
