Chapter 155 The Call

She gulped, hoping that Toby wouldn't call her because since she is still inside Nick's car.

"I have nothing to do with Master Cage," Veronica explained.

"We'll see about that," Nick spoke, betting that Toby will call her sooner or later.

Veronica was confused if Nick was really serious about waiting for Toby's call.

She dared not bet, because Toby obviously saw her get into Nick's car. She has no clue of what might happen next.

"Why would he even call me? He's picking up Suzanne! I'm tired, I want to go inside." Veronica exclaimed.

Instead of removing Nick's hand, Veronica slammed her arm against his chest and her danger immediately escalated.

"Did I allow you to leave?" Nick looked at her with raging eyes.

"Well, why would Master Cage call me? His girlfriend is Suzanne. If he really cared about me, he wouldn't have betrayed me in the first place. I have no place in his heart." before Veronica even finished her words, her cell phone rang. She felt her body tightened and thought that Nick might be right about Toby.

Panic occupied her mind and did not know what to do.

The ambiance in the car made her feel more pressured.

"Are you going to answer or what?" Nick asked her with a low and terrible voice.

Veronica did not want to answer the call in front of Nick.

She tried to hide her panic and replied, "Let me go first so I can get my phone."

"Just answer the phone and put it on speaker," Nick demanded.

Veronica felt more nervous.

If the call is from Toby, Nick would consider him as a sinner. And once Toby talked about something, it will be the end for Veronica.

Veronica took out her cellphone nervously and hoped it was not Toby Cage.

She released a sigh of relief when she saw who was calling and showed it to Nick. "It's Suzanne, look."

The expression on Nick's face was still cold and he did not respond.

"I will take this call," Veronica answered in front of Nick and put it into the speaker. Nick released her hand and listened to their conversation.

"Hey, Suzanne."

"Are you still at the studio?"

"No, I left more than an hour ago. What's the matter?"

"I just finished filming the night show. I was about to go and see you at the station. How about I pick you up at your house and let's eat." Suzanne suggested with excitement.

Veronica said, "Actually, it's very late now and I have to get up early tomorrow. Maybe next time?"

"Well, I've been a little upset lately. Maybe my period will come early?" Suzanne explained.

Their conversation changed naturally and Veronica began to talk to her about it.

She realized that Nick was listening, covered her phone, and stared at Nick, "Do you still want to listen?"

Nick's eyes narrowed and Veronica told him, "Then I'll go ahead now."

As soon as she got out of the car, she went to her house and waited for Suzanne.

When she arrived, they walked together and talked, "Fortunately, my period hasn't arrived." Suzanne sighed.

"You're still young. Your period still might have something to do with your moods. Just learn to adjust to it." Veronica replied with a smile.
