Chapter 161 Take It Easy
Chapter 161 Take It Easy
Nick's black eyes stared at her deeply, "Aren't you surprised that I showed up?"
Veronica's eyes trembled and dodged his intent gaze. "Mr. Cage possesses so much money that even I know that I have nowhere to escape from your presence. That's already common knowledge, isn't it?"
"Indeed, it is." Nick let go of his grip on her jaw.
Nick looked out of the window as Veronica shuddered from the feeling of being free of Nick's grip.
She was no longer surprised by the appearance of Nick. What was stranger was that fact this man carried a spray for asthma. Did he know in advance that Veronica would have an asthma attack?
It felt very unlikely that this was the reason. It was actually more possible that he carried a spray everywhere he went to use it to torture her and cause her an asthma attack.
Otherwise, wouldn't it have spoiled his fun? Wouldn't it be beyond his character?
Despite all her doubts, she was grateful for his appearance for otherwise her life would have been ended now. Without her, her six little ones would have to grow up without a mother.
"Thank you very much," Veronica hesitated for a moment but finally gave out her gratitude to the man beside her.
Nick's black and depthless eyes stared at her in a daze.
Veronica looked sideways at her window and no longer said a word after saying thank you.
The car stopped steadily and Veronica looked out the window at the hospital, frowning.
"What are we doing in the hospital? My face is just swollen. I'll just go back and ice it. It's nothing serious." Veronica really did not want to see a doctor for such a minor injury.
"Get out of the car," Nick ordered her, and with a stride of his long legs, he got out of the car.
But Veronica didn't move. She stayed still inside the care.
Nick went around the other side and stood by Veronica's door. "Do you want me to drag you out?"
Veronica shrank back on her seat. "I said I don't want to see a doctor. I will just take a taxi back!" She turned around and faced the other door.
She pushed open the door and got out of the car, but before she could even go as far as two steps, she was dragged over by a tight grip on her wrist.
"Hey!" Veronica shouted out of shock, almost bumping into Nick's broad chest. "What are you doing? Let me go!"
She tried to free herself, but the combined strength of her two hands could not pull away from the big hand that grabbed her wrist.
Nick's face and composure did not waver as Veronica tried her best pulling away from his hold. Instead, he slightly bent over, carried the person in his arms, turned around, and went straight to the hospital.
"Stop it!" Veronica clung to his broad shoulder subconsciously, stunned over his immense strength. Has this man gone insane? How could he carry her so easily and force her to go to the hospital? "Let me go! I said let go!"
"Don't move." Nick's deep and hushed voice stopped Veronica's restraint.
"Please, put me down," Veronica said calmly, at the same time that she was purposely covering her face out of fear of being seen in such a shameful circumstance.
"I'm not responsible if you fall and hurt yourself."
What would happen if the struggling Veronica actually fall when she just finished a meal? Nick was tall, so if she fell from that position, she would definitely be hurt badly.
Veronica did not dare to risk falling on her own. Also, Nick had always been unpredictable and she was very afraid of whatever he might do. What if he actually let her fall when she struggled?
Nick's black eyes swiftly glanced at her. Veronica saw that her cautiousness turned him confident, making his deep, beautiful eyes glisten even more under the light.
When Veronica was just young, she acted reserved and quiet the first time that she needed to come to the hospital for the treatment of her swollen face. It turned out, the person who drugged her to that state was Tracy Dora, the director of the hospital.
This was the second time she would see Tracy Dora since that incident.
Knowing that she was Nick's personal doctor, coupled with her current embarrassing appearance, Veronica really felt uncomfortable seeing Tracy.
After so many years, this kind of trivial matter was still trouble for her.
Sitting next to Tracy was Nick, who was crossing his long legs. His casual posture could not even dampen his intimidating aura. He looked intently at the medicine being applied on Veronica's face.
"Doctor, when will my face heal?" Veronica asked nervously. "I need it to heal fast because I have to go to work tomorrow."
"It doesn't matter if you go to work right away. There is no dent in your appearance. Just keep applying this ointment and the swelling can be completely reduced overnight."
"Oh, that's good." Veronica Parker, just take it easy.
