Chapter 166 She Cares About Them
Chapter 166 She Cares About Them
What reason could Veronica have to renew her relationship with Toby? How could she justify her past actions? Wasn't she already shameless to want to see him again, right?
Toby already did so much to protect Veronica behind her back, but she only pushed him away and slept with a random man in the bar. What was even worse was that she gave birth to six children.
If Toby only knew about what she did, he would definitely be very disgusted with her.
Deep inside, Veronica knew that she couldn't let herself get in touch with Toby, because she didn't deserve it at all.
Toby was with Suzanne Roland, and they have a baby of their own, which was a good thing.
It turns out that no matter how strong the relationship between two people was, once they break up, it will only remain as a memory forever.
Veronica's tears were spilling out from her face, so she covered her face while taking deep breaths over and over again to calm herself down.
She was feeling very sad and overwhelmed.
In the morning, Veronica returned to normal and had a happy breakfast with the six little children.
What Veronica liked to do was to watch Peter munch his pasta. He pursed his mouth and slowly sucked each pasta noodle, and then accidentally have thrown it into his chubby face. This quirky act showed his cuteness incisively and vividly.
Isabella sent the six little children to school. Veronica cleaned up at home, then went to work.
Before she got out of the neighborhood, she saw a familiar car coming in their way.
Veronica recognized it immediately right from the color of the car.
The car stopped beside their house, and Chloe Bowen got out of her seat, smelling like an expensive perfume.
"Are you about to go to work? I'll take you there!" exclaimed Chloe enthusiastically through her car window.
"Did you come here on purpose just to take me to work?" Veronica asked.
Of course, she didn't believe it, so she wanted to know Chloe's real reason for coming there.
Actually, there's something I want to ask you."
Veronica actually didn't want to get in touch with Chloe, but she kept coming back even though she already turned down the invitation for dinner last time.
"If you need anything, just ask away!" Veronica said.
"Your mother came here in a hurry because she was worried about you. I already know about you being kidnapped by Eden Cage. I heard that you were admitted to the hospital and that your leg would not recover right away. Did Nick save you? Most of us are aware that Nick Cage is not easy to mess with, so that's why your mother is worried about it. You can put your children in foster care somewhere else, for the time being, otherwise, if he knows that you have had babies, he will certainly think that you are playing with him and will not let you go!" Chloe had not given up her attempt with her scheme, that she's even willing to spout lies over and over.
Veronica looked at her in disbelief. "Is that what wanted to say that you're in such a hurry to say? I thought you would care about my kidnapping by Eden Cage and would ask me if I was hurt and what has happened. Was all of that unimportant to you?" said Veronica angrily.
"Of course, your mother cares about you. I just don't want you to get hurt again. You know, it's okay to offend Eden, but you can't offend Nick. If you stay with Nick now, he certainly doesn't know you have children, does he? Just think about it. What will he do to you if he knows? We have to be practical. Take a long-term view!"
"Long-term?" Veronica thought it was funny. She looked at her to check if she was being serious. "Sometimes I wonder if I'm your real daughter or not."
Chloe was stupefied for a moment. There was something sad in her eyes when she finally said, "You're my real daughter. I was pregnant in October and gave birth to you. Aren't you afraid of breaking your mother's heart when you say that? You are a piece of meat that I brought to this world!"
"Peter is your grandson also, but you always fail to show love for him. You always let me send them away. Fine, I'm just a piece of meat that fell off from you. But what about them?" Veronica asked. "Your excuse is too far-fetched!"
"Veronica, how could I not care about them? If I don't care about them, will I ask John to bring delicious food to school for them every day? If I don't care about them, will I tell the teacher to take good care of them?"
