Chapter 206 Close Encounter With The Past
Chapter 206 Close Encounter With The Past
"It's just a typical dysmenorrhea," Veronica responded
"Come on, you should have that checked. You can't just second guess what's happening to your body." Lisa advised.
"..." Veronica Parker was speechless. She kind of froze for a moment and couldn't say anything. She stared at Lisa blankly.
"This is a young girl's disease. Speaking from experience, if you often run in with men, dysmenorrhea will disappear." Lisa said that and left.
"Run in." Veronica Parker thought. Lisa used the word in a very subtle way.
She used to believe that she was over this struggle when she was younger. She wanted to hit the wall because she was too annoyed by her current situation. She did experience dysmenorrhea when she was younger. And didn't happen again up until she gave birth. Now, this? She was so displeased.
She knew in her heart that it was caused by her contraceptive, and the side effects just showed up.
Veronica Parker wanted to stick to her post, but her condition is getting worse. She doesn't feel well. Her face couldn't hide it.
Either standing, sitting, squatting, or just do nothing, she couldn't keep still. She already looked so pale because of so much pain. She couldn't take it anymore. So, she asked for permission and left.
However, after leaving her post, she still stayed at the TV station. She drank tea which slightly relieved the pain in her stomach.
Then she started to gather her thoughts so she wouldn't do anything stupid. She has to be very careful now. If decides to go back to work immediately, Nick Cage might have even the slightest chance of doing or hiding something. And she couldn't let that happen.
The first time's a charm. But the second time around might not be a good opportunity for her.
In front of Nick Cage, it is best not to appear disoriented or anything.
As Veronica Parker squinted on the ottoman with a water cup in her hand, she heard an unexpected low voice behind her.
"What's the matter?" the man asked.
Veronica Parker shook slightly then opened her eyes and saw Toby Cage standing tall in the direction of the door, looking at her with a slight frown.
He looked at her in a daze, approached her, and stood very close to her. "I remember, you usually have it at the end of the month. It's too soon right?" He recalled. "..." She was stunned by his words. How could he not forget about such small detail about her? Yes, she used to have her period at the end of the month. He was very accurate. But what's in it for him?
Veronica Parker was trembling deep inside and tried so hard to hide it."It's ahead of schedule." Toby Cage added.
Veronica Parker glanced at him and still said nothing.
Just when she thought Toby Cage would continue to say something, he turned around and left her.
Veronica Parker took a deep sigh of relief. Her heart was pounding already and she could almost hear her own heartbeat. She felt at ease when he finally left her.
She has nothing to do with Toby Cage now. She has nothing to say nor explain to him.
Toby Cage used to take care of her before. He could even put up with her mood swings during dysmenorrhea.
"Do I want that again from him?" Veronica Parker thought to herself.
Then she snapped. She shouldn't forget, he is Suzanne Roland's boyfriend now. His love, attention, and his tenderness should be given to Suzanne Roland alone. Nobody else.
And she's not qualified to have it again.
Veronica Parker finished a glass of water and was ready to stand up and fill her cup again with water. But Toby Cage appeared again and this time, he was holding something in his hand.
Veronica Parker was stunned and the cup that was holding was taken away.
When the cup was in Toby Cage's hand, he poured some of the ginger brown sugar he brought and poured it into the cup, filled it with some water, and handed it over to Veronica Parker.
Veronica Parker looked blankly at the steaming ginger brown sugar water in front of her. "Why are you ..." She wanted to him but he interrupted her.
"Don't be too moved. I've done so much before. This one's very simple." Toby Cage said indifferently.
But Veronica Parker wanted to cry.
Why does he need to remind her of their past? She just wanted to forget about it. She wanted to move on. Why does it have to be like this? She thought of Nick Cage as she looked at Toby Cage. She's in a relationship now with Nick. She's not in the position to long for Toby again. She couldn't be him again. "I-I can't do this. Thanks but no thanks for this aromatic tea. I better go now and leave." Veronica Parker said, turned around, and left.
As soon as she was about to walk out of the room, he reached for her and grabbed her by the wrist.
She turned to face him.
"Toby Cage." She said and looked straight into his eyes.
Toby Cage didn't speak. He just dragged her to Suzanne Roland's dressing room and locked the door.
