Chapter 368 Home Sweet Home
Chapter 368 Home Sweet Home
Veronica thought about what Nick said for a while and she concluded that it would be nice if she got to spend the night with the children. That alone made her feel giddy and excited at the same time.
However, she also thought about Nick. "Did that also mean Nick's going to spend the night, too?" She thought.
Peter looked up at Nick with a grain of rice on his cheek. "Daddy, can I sleep with mommy?"
Cathy's eyes went wide as saucers as she thought of an idea that made her happy. "Daddy, you can sleep with mommy, right?"
Julie and Josh chimed in, clearly loving Cathy's idea. "We can sleep together with both mommy and daddy!"
Lily and Daniel simply looked at Veronica and Nick in anticipation. Their eyes were wide open as they waited for their parent's answer.
Veronica suddenly felt like she was put on the spot. She began to sweat profusely, but she couldn't do anything about it. After all, just thinking about sleeping with Nick made her feel awkward.
"The bed is too small to make two people fit though." Veronica said, trying to think of a way not to sleep alongside Nick on the same bed.
The children looked somehow disappointed, making them stop eating.
"Just this once." Nick told the kids, making them happy again.
Veronica couldn't say anything more and took a glance at Nick. She wanted to refuse, but when she looked at the children, she couldn't say no to them.
It was going to be a long night, she thought.
After all of them were done eating, the waiters outside cleaned up the table and took the leftovers, leaving the table sparkling clean.
Veronica was full, so she sat on the sofa for a while. She ate too much, so she simply looked at the happy children, smiling at their goofiness.
The children were in front of her and they happily played while they went barefoot, which made her feel very satisfied.
However, Veronica began to think about why Nick suddenly wanted to go to her place with the children. She was also wondering about he was thinking. He had become so nice to her, which made Veronica's face a little red.
When Veronica tried to look for Nick, she saw him answering his phone on the balcony. She didn't really know who called, but she wanted to listen in his call for some reason.
"What is it?" Nick told the person on the phone, irritated.
"Don't mind him." He added, then hung up the call. He turned around and looked at Veronica at a distance.
Veronica immediately withdrew her eyes and looked at the six children instead.
Nick's eyes were locked on Veronica, bewildered and amused at the same time. This made him smirk for a moment, knowing that Veronica might be thinking about odd things that involved him.
Veronica could feel Nick's gaze from behind her. She felt like she was going to melt if he kept staring any longer, so she decided to stand up and go to the balcony, standing beside him.
"Are you really going to sleep here?" Veronica asked him, gazing at the night sky as if she was just casually talking to a friend.
"Yeah, why?"
"it's not like you can't see it. It's inconvenient for you to stay here." Veronica sighed.
"What's wrong with staying here exactly?" Nick said to her in bewilderment.
Veronica simply glared at him, "Just tell them."
Nick frowned, "Tell them what?"
Veronica frowned as well and turned to look at Nick. "Just tell them that you just got a phone call and you have to take care of something."
"You used to lie to them like that?" Nick retorted as he raised an eyebrow.
Veronica realized what she had said and looked away from Nick, "I had no choice."
Nick gave her a stern look. He wasn't about to lie to the children like what she did.
"Fine, you can stay if you want!" Veronica told him as she turned away. "By the way, I used to bathe them with Isabella's help. Can you help me and give them a bath? They always love it when someone they know helps them take a bath."
Nick just nodded and didn't say another word.
It was now the children's time to take a bath.
Veronica took Julie, Cathy and Lily then went to bed after taking a shower. Their faces were as red as tomatoes, but they like being pampered by their mom so much.
It was now Nick's time to give the boys a bath and he was a little nervous. He didn't know what it felt like to give his children a bath, so he hoped that it wouldn't be much of a mess.
When Veronica left the bedroom, she went to the bathroom and tried to peep inside.
As Veronica saw Nick rinse the shampoo off the boys' hair, she felt as if he didn't need any help at all and smiled.
Although, she felt awkward looking at Nick with his clothes all wet. She hadn't thought of him as a father figure at all and just thinking that he helped the boys take a bath warmed her heart.
Veronica silently snickered and went back to the bedroom where Julie, Lily and Cathy were. She then laid down on the bed with them and closed her eyes, with no intention of helping Nick at all.
