Chapter 440 The First Suspect
Chapter 440 The First Suspect
Veronica was stunned for a while. A video data can only be kept for three days. It meant that there won't be any videos from ten days ago.
Then she wouldn't know what was wrong with Isabella that day.
"What's wrong, Miss Parker?" The property guard asked.
Veronica glanced at him before she shook her head. He wouldn't know even if she asked him.
Besides, the police would have told her if they found something strange.
"Nothing." Veronica finally answered.
The property guard nodded, turned away from her and found a vehicle coming. "There's a car coming!" He announced as pressed the remote control to lift the pole.
Veronica had nothing else to say and was about to go back. But, as soon as she got out of the security kiosk, a black car stopped in front of her.
Veronica stared blankly at the unforgettable and familiar car.
Without waiting for the bodyguard to lift the pole, a man had stepped out of the car.
Veronica looked at the tall figure who suddenly appeared in front of her and her eyes trembled.
Nick's presence always brought out a strong sense of pressure from her.
Veronica was puzzled. He already called her earlier. Why did he have to come here?
Nick looked down at her. "What's the matter?"
He knew her too well.
"I came to take a look at the surveillance." Veronica answered. "I want to see Isabella. I want to see the video when the accident happened."
"Why are you looking for it?" Nick asked. "Do you doubt what happened?"
"No. I just want to see it." She lied. "However, the property guard said that it was gone and only the police have it. Just forget it. "
"Don't look for it again." Nick dissuaded.
Veronica looked down and said nothing.
Yes, they were mourning for Isabella and it would only add to the sadness.
"What else is there to clean up?" The man asked.
"None left. But I left my bag and phone. I'll just get it."
"The key." Nick Cage said.
Veronica handed out the key and Nick gave it to the bodyguard.
The bodyguard turned to get her bag.
"Let's go back."
In a blink of an eye, Nick was pulling her hand to his.
Nick's left hand enveloped her right hand.
The watch on his left wrist paralleled hers so closely.
As if to show the world that they were a couple.
On the driveway back, Veronica looked out of the window in silence.
Isabella's necklace was still in her pocket and she didn't tell Nick.
She didn't know whether to tell Nick or not. But she knew that she never wanted to rely on this dangerous man.
"What's your next plan?" Nick asked with his voice low.
Veronica turned to him and met his eyes.
"I'm going to the TV station tomorrow." Veronica replied. It registered to her that Nick wanted to change the topic and put her attention somewhere else.
But as far as she was concerned, she would not stop until this matter was resolved.
Veronica went straight back to her room when they arrived in Winter Villa. She took out Isabella's phone and went through the phone records inside.
She searched for the call history of the day of the accident and was stunned immediately after she saw a familiar series of numbers.
Veronica hunted Tom's number in her own phone and confirmed that the numbers matched.
It was only Tom who Isabella had spoken with on the phone that day. That must be the reason why Tom Parker was subpoenaed by the police.
They thought that Tom was looking for Isabella for a hidden agenda, but found that he didn't have enough motive to do so.
But Veronica had a suspicion. Even if Tom didn't have a motive, it definitely had something to do with him!
Did something happen after Isabella met Tom? Veronica knew Tom all too well! That man was despicable and shameless! Who knew what he intimidated Isabella with?!
She had to check on Tom, even if the suspicion had been washed away by the police. Like how they ignored the broken necklace and the scratched pillow.
Veronica, who definitely needed the means and connections to investigate Tom, thought that it certainly wouldn't be easy to do so if her name was not Nick Cage.
