Chapter 439 What Exactly Happened That Day?
Chapter 439 What Exactly Happened That Day?
Nick said nothing more and she hung up the call.
Veronica held her phone as she stared blankly at the pillow on the ground. After a moment, she slowly bent down to pick it up, as her mind tried to recall something.
She was reminded of the time when Cage called her in her apartment.
That afternoon, she bought a necklace for Isabella before she went back to the TV station. Meanwhile, Isabella went back to her apartment, saying that she would take an hour or two off before picking up the children.
Veronica went back to her apartment after work that day. She vaguely remembered picking up pillows on the floor while she talking to Nick on the phone.
Isabella had always been a clean person. She had a penchant for cleanliness and she was very meticulous about it.
So, if Isabella went back to her apartment that day, why did she let the fallen pillows stay on the floor?
Veronica found it strange at that time, but she didn't pay much attention to it.
She held the pillow and stared at it for a long time. Her eyes went back and forth as she survey the pillow. And then saw traces of pulled fabric on the pillow.
The detail was so subtle that no one could tell if they didn't take a closer look.
Moreover, Veronica remembered no such a flaw on this pillow!
There was a foam board in the corner, which was removed by the police during their investigation that day.
Nothing unusual was found.
But what about the pillows that fell on the ground and the scratches on the pillow?
Plus, Isabella's missing necklace.
And the other day, Isabella promised to pick up six little ones, but she didn't.
She didn't know where this suspicion would lead her, but the more she thought about the little details, the more flaws she discovered!
Did Isabella really fall accidentally?
Veronica's mind went haywire. She put down the pillow and hurriedly looked for more clues near the sofa. She hastily opened several drawers to search, eager to know the answer. She wouldn't let a corner go unexplored.
Because she was in a hurry, her lower back bumped into the coffee table. Veronica gasped in pain and a cup fell to the ground and broke.
The crisp sound had somehow calmed Veronica's anxious mood a little bit.
Looking at the debris on the ground, she thought she didn't want any clutter in Isabella's house. Isabella didn't like it when there was a mess.
Veronica got up to get a broom and sweep the broken glass, including the debris spattered under the sofa. Crouching, she reached under the sofa with a broom to sweep out the pieces of the glass.
As she was cleaning, something shiny came out with the debris.
It was not a piece of glass.
Veronica walked over, and she realized that it was Isabella's necklace. The necklace that she had been looking for a long while now.
But why was Isabella's necklace under the sofa?
Did Isabella lost it? Did Isabella lied to her about putting it away?
But what exactly happened for it to fell into a tricky place such as under the sofa?
When Veronica picked up the necklace, she found that it was not only covered with dust. It was also broken near the pendant. She looked at it again and confirmed that it was really broken.
But how? It was impossible that Isabella broke the necklace herself. She loved it so much and treated it like a child before.
If Veronica found the necklace in the drawer, she wouldn't say anything. But she didn't.
Anyway, for now, the found necklace would serve as a testament to her guess.
Isabella did not fall accidentally, did she?
No, definitely not!
If the previous details were coincidences, then what about the broken necklace under the sofa?
What exactly happened that day?
Veronica regained her senses and immediately ran downstairs to look for the property guard.
The property guard was drinking tea with his legs crossed when she arrived. When he saw her, he stood up in surprise and the tea was poured on his legs, which he only dusted his hands with.
Veronica was a bit shocked from his reaction, but she didn't think about it much. She was eager to know how Isabella came back that day.
Maybe, she would found something relevant.
"Can I have a look at the surveillance?" Veronica asked.
"Does Miss Parker want to see the surveillance on the day of the accident?" The property guard said before he apologized. "Sorry, Miss Parker, a video data can only be kept for three days. However, the surveillance on the day of the accident was being kept by the police."
