Chapter 445 Tom Parker Had the Last Laugh
Chapter 445 Tom Parker Had the Last Laugh
"Can't you, for once, believe me? Not for me anymore, but for the sake of Isabella's willingness to persuade you. Why can't you give Dad a chance?"
Veronica Parker thought for a while. She was trying to find a way to sarcastically respond to whatever Tom Parker said. "What chance are we looking at here, huh? Do you want the chance to have the right to develop resources in the southwest? Huh, Dad? Ok, I can ask Nick Cage so that he will give it to you."
"Are you serious?" Tom Parker looked really excited. He reached out to grab Veronica Parker's hands.
Veronica Parker stood up fiercely with an angry look on her face.
"Veronica, c'mon. I mean no harm. That was not my intention, but when you said it, I just can't believe it."
Veronica Parker took two deep breaths to calm herself down. She slightly tilted her and then she looked at Tom Parker, and asked, "Really? Are you happy because of what I said? Well, I've got news for you. I can also make you unhappy now."
"I am getting confused. What do you mean?"
"Yes, I do have the ability to get Nick Cage to listen to me. Sadly, I changed my mind. I will definitely not talk to him on your behalf." Veronica Parker smiled and looked at him coldly. "So, tell me, how does it feel to fall from heaven to hell?"
"Veronica, darling, how could you do this to me. I am your father." Tom Parker could not accept what Veronica just said.
"Were you honestly surprised? Quite frankly, to me, fatherhood is an optional existence. I can do without, always have. Do you think I'd come to see you if it wasn't for Isabella? In the past, there was a chance for Isabella to be a lobbyist between you and me, but now, there is no one who can persuade me and help you anymore. After all, the only relative I care about is Isabella." Veronica said sternly, then she continued, "After today, please expect that I will never see you again, let alone answer your phone calls. If you want to gain a foothold in the capital, you have to know that you will die!" Veronica Parker said, then she turned around and left the box.
"Don't speak too soon and make sure you are not getting too ahead of yourself." Tom Parker's tone and expression have changed. "For example, how do you know I don't have a good foothold in the capital?"
Veronica Parker's eyes raised slightly, staring at the closed door in front of him, but loaded with forbearance.
Before she turned around, the cell phone in her bag buzzed.
Veronica Parker stopped for a moment and took out her cell phone. When she opened it, she saw that a video was sent to her. She played it back and when she saw what was in the video, she felt that she could not breathe. She had to open her mouth slightly to catch air. Tears dripped one by one on the phone screen.
She hurriedly turned off the video, held the phone tightly, and then the next thing she knew, she already trembled all over.
The uncontrollable breakdown made her squat down, she held her head, and tears started to fell to the ground like heavy rain.
Tom Parker took a step forward and watched Veronica Parker collapsed with an air of ordinary indifference. "Maybe you think my methods and ways are too much, but there's nothing I can do about it." Tom Parker coldly said.
"If you think about what happened and why it happened, I bet you'd believe me when I tell you that it was all your fault. You forced the situation. See, if you had promised to do me a favor in the first place, then you wouldn't have known about this video. Sure, the favor may be harder for others, but for you, all you have to do is open your mouth to Nick Cage."
Veronica Parker asked with all her remaining strength, "You. How many times did you touch her?"
"Only twice." Tom Parker had nothing to hide, but she already knew about it.
"So, now you're threatening me with a video to ask Nick Cage for the development rights in the southwest?"
"Yes. It's not very complicated, is it? As long as I get what I want, I will delete all the videos and pay the money on the one hand and deliver the rest on the other." Tom Parker said shamelessly.
Veronica Parker looked up, raised her gaze towards Tom Parker, her face was soaked from all the crying, and her eyes were filled with fresh tears.
She grabbed the edge of the next table and struggled to get up. "Ok, I'll help you."
"Really? Oh, my dear Veronica, Dad knew it. I know that you're going to help."
Veronica Parker didn't say anything. She stood up and moved to open the door and said, "Wait for me."
With that, she went out and left.
"Are you sure we won't eat, Veronica?"
Veronica Parker left the western restaurant as if she didn't hear Tom Parker.
She walked along the sidewalk; tears kept falling down from her eyes.
She deliberately said cruel things to Tom Parker just to force him out of her life and now, he gave her a dead end and she had no choice but to do something shady.
