Chapter 444 Veronica Parker Meets Tom Parker
Chapter 444 Veronica Parker Meets Tom Parker
Veronica Parker's beautiful brow frowned slightly. She gave off a face that indicated that she was not very grateful for such a grace.
"You know what I'm actually thinking? Why don't you give me a year instead of a week? I think that will be better. Admit it, it will be no problem to think about it, too."
Before Veronica Parker could even finish her words, she was attacked by Nick Cage, which frightened her into a sudden retreat, when suddenly something hit her from behind.
It was Daniel Parker. Apparently, he fell asleep, knocked under the bed, fell on the mat, bounced out and rolled twice!
Veronica Parker jumped out of bed with fear. "Ah! Daniel! You scared everything in me!" Then, she carefully picked him up and put him back to bed.
The next day, Veronica Parker went to the TV station to talk to her boss. She asked to take a leave for a few days stating that there was an accident with Isabella.
The moment she asked for leave, she was advised that the recording of the show will stop if she proceeds with taking some time off. Not only will the program stop production, she was also told that it will be closed every day because of her filing of leave.
Veronica Parker could not help but think about how a serious matter such as an accident seemed insignificant here in the TV station.
The TV station is owned by the KING Group. The truth is that for the rich and powerful Nick Cage, this TV station is just a drop in the bucket.
Had it not been for the purpose of controlling the revenue of Veronica Parker, Nick Cage would not have
liked it.
Veronica Parker was sitting in her office waiting for Tom Parker to call. She kept thinking about what will happen after her meeting with him.
The thing with meeting someone like Tom Parker is that when you met, you have to be psychologically prepared. Otherwise, you would be mentally fragile after.
Veronica Parker knew very well that a person like Tom Parker doesn't think about things with a simple mind. He liked things complex and complicated.
The knock on the door drew Veronica Parker's mind away from her thoughts of Tom Parker. She looked up and saw Lisa standing at the door. The latter smiled and walked in. "Hey you! You looked as if you were going to take long in trance. So I had to, you know, pull you back in."
Veronica Parker smiled, "Lisa, how are you? I heard you went back to the TV station?"
"But of course, did you honestly feel like you could keep your position forever?" Lisa teasingly asked.
"You know that I am willing to give way."
"Forget it! I was just teasing you! Children's show is no longer challenging for me, and I won't take it even if you give it to me, you know? Tell you what, I heard that the TV station is going to launch a Reality Show program, and the guests are all A-list stars. I will participate on behalf of the first sister status of the TV station, so go ahead and envy me! I won't mind." Lisa said laughing.
Veronica Parker nodded, "I am super envious. When Lisa has meat to eat, don't forget to give me some soup to drink, please?"
"The broth will be available soon" Lisa winked. "Kidding aside, would you like to have dinner after work?" Lisa asked.
Before Veronica Parker could answer Lisa, the cellphone on the desk rang. She picked it up and looked at the call.
Veronica Parker looked at Lisa, and said apologetically, "Maybe next time? I have something to do today." She pointed at her phone suggesting that what she had to do has something to do with the caller.
"All right, I get it you're busy! I'll see you around. And you owe me that dinner, okay?" Lisa turned and left the office.
As soon as Lisa left, Veronica Parker immediately answered her phone.
Tom Parker's voice came, "I'm in the capital now. Where shall we meet?"
They both agreed to meet at the Western restaurant.
It was an elegant yet quiet box.
Tom Parker was the first to arrive. As soon as he saw Veronica Parker, he got up and pulled the chair for her. From the outside, you would think that Tom Parker was a real gentleman for having shown those gestures.
Veronica Parker ignored him and whatever he did and opted to sit down in the chair next to him.
Surprisingly, Tom Parker did not get angry. Instead, he kept a smile on his face and went back to his seat.
The waiter came to the table and asked Tom Parker and Veronica Parker for their order.
Veronica Parker looked at him. "You know very well that I'm not here to eat."
"Veronica, there is no need to rush, okay? Things can wait. I suggest that we eat first."
"I can't and I won't eat if you don't tell me." Veronica Parker is adamant.
Tom Parker sighed. He pushed the glasses on the bridge of his nose. "I went to Isabella the other day. I convinced her to persuade you. After all, I really want to recognize you as my daughter. Isabella first refused, and then later on, she said that she would consider it. I think if it hadn't been for that accident she met, she would have advised you to recognize me as a father."
"You met with Isabella? Was it just you and her?"
"No, I was accompanied by my wife."
"How many times have you called Isabella? Excluding that day you called her to meet on the day of the accident?"
Tom Parker thought for a while and then said, "Three times all in all."
"Did you see each other every time?"
"Yes, Veronica. We spoke on the phone and then we'd meet. I haunted Isabella. And I did that all because of you."
Veronica Parker looked at Tom Parker's calm expression. She was reading through his actions. Then she smiled coldly. "I wonder if you being old resulted in your bad memory. The last time you came to me, you weren't necessarily as innocent as you are now."
