Chapter 48 She Surprised Him

Kevin Cage smiled and to soften the atmosphere, he said, "I've heard your mother talk about you for a long time. You are indeed as beautiful and lovely as she said. Do you know what I regret most? We don't have a daughter and only had two sons." He then continued, "But it's all right now. Veronica is your daughter. Therefore, she's my daughter, too. Veronica would be able to make decisions for you if the need arises in the future."

Veronica didn't talk so Chloe hurriedly said, "Why don't we eat first? Let's talk while eating."

"Okay."

The hearty cuisine was served. She didn't know that beef was being served and didn't know how expensive it was.

"You should eat Veronica. I remember that beef is your favorite," Chloe said.

Kevin heartily said, "Coincidentally, I like beef, too."

Since she was already there, she had no choice but to eat.

They ate beef with a knife and fork.

Kevin made her feel a little surprised. She initially thought that the father of a ruthless and inhumane man like Nick would be similar to him. She did not expect that he had such a happy demeanor, happily talking and laughing.

Kevin Cage said with a smile, "John knows he had a sister who could play with him all day."

Veronica smiled unnaturally and thought, 'Don't let him come to me.'

Kevin said, "There will be a chance to have dinner again together in the future."

The dinner was neither happy nor unhappy for Veronica. The KING Group was not mentioned from the time they started eating until they finished. It was like a taboo.

As she was lost in thought about all this, her cellphone suddenly rang. She took it out and when she saw who it was from the caller ID, she hung up immediately.

However, the other side refused to give up.

Veronica answered angrily, "What do you want?"

"What is your relationship with Chloe Bowen?"

Veronica couldn't speak. She was nervous for a moment and said nothing.

"Coincidentally, I ate at that restaurant, too."

Veronica thought that she had nothing to hide. With toby's character, she knew he would never stop until he got an answer. She stammered to say, "She is...She is my mother."

Besides, even if she admitted this to Toby, it didn't mean that Toby mattered.

After a short silence, Toby chuckled and said, "You really surprised me."
