Chapter 481 Searching For Evidence

Tom Parker and Sarah North quarreled in their room.

Even after reconciling with Sarah North, Tom Parker still had some grudges towards her.

That evening, Veronica Parker secretly went to the study room located on the ground floor to investigate. She assumed that Tom Parker would never put that kind of video on his mobile phone. He probably kept it on his computer so no one would see it. And Veronica Parker was more than eager to find it. The villa was quiet and everyone already went to bed.

Veronica Parker crept to the study then she figured that the door was unlocked. She opened it, slipped in, and closed the door gently.

It was dark inside. So Veronica Parker used her mobile phone as her source of light.

She walked towards the study desk and found a laptop on top of it.

She lifted the laptop screen. She was not surprised to see that it required a password.

She realized that it was only Nick Cage who doesn't have a password on his laptop.

For some time, she tried to figure out what was Tom Parker's password for his laptop. She checked his documents but found nothing.

Then suddenly, she heard a noise outside.

Veronica Parker hurriedly went outside the study room.

The sound of the car engine felt so close and the light of the headlights flashed by.

Veronica Parker wondered who just came. Then she saw Elton Parker.

Elton Parker got out of the car and went straight to the living room.

As he was about to go upstairs, his keen footsteps stopped, turned around, and stared at the slender figure.

"Who's there?" Elton Parker inquired.

Veronica Parker turned around with a cup of water in her hand and stared at Elton Parker.

When Elton Parker saw her, his eyes flashed with disgust and he was not surprised that Veronica Parker was there. His reaction indicated that he already knew that soon she would move there. "What are you doing here?" He asked her with a grouchy tone.

"To drink water." Veronica Parker responded calmly then raised the water cup in her hand. "I woke up thirsty so I decided to go down to get some water." She added.

Elton Parker contemptuously looked at her for a moment, walked towards her, and said, "You can drink water but please, stay out of my sight."

Veronica Parker shook her head and responded, "It's not the water's fault. Relax Elton. But don't worry because tomorrow, I'm going to ask Dad to put a water purifier in my room. Goodnight!" With that, she placed the water cup on the table and turned her back on Elton Parker.

"Stop right there," Elton Parker instructed.

"Is there anything else?" Veronica Parker turned around and asked.

"Mr. Cage allowed you to stay here?" He curiously asked.

"I don't stay here often. I go to Winter Villa once in a while." She responded.

"I was just curious. How could you stay here with Tom Parker? I mean, it was a given fact that he abused you when you were still young. Should I say that you are just being courageous? Or stupid? Or maybe, just maybe, you're doing it on purpose because you have something else in mind?" Elton Parker stared at her as if he was trying to read something out of it.

Veronica Parker smiled, "Purpose? Now I'm more curious." She turned away and went upstairs.

Back in her room, Veronica Parker sat on the edge of the bed. She felt relieved.

Good thing she came out of the study room quickly. Otherwise, she would have been seen by Elton Parker.

If Tom Parker finds out that she was spying on him, it would be more difficult for her to find that video. He shouldn't have even the slightest feeling of suspicion towards her.

Veronica Parker figured that somehow, Elton Parker would give her a hard time. They weren't that close ever since and so, she should be more careful whenever he's around.

The next day, it was just Tom and Veronica Parker who went to the breakfast table.

Sarah North was still angry at Tom Parker. They slept in separate rooms last night. No matter how much Tom Parker tried to please Sarah North, she was so angry and can't even look at him. His efforts were useless. He inflicted so much pain that it seemed impossible for her to forgive him.

Clare Parker usually eats eggs only for breakfast because she was trying to stay fit. But that morning, she decided to stay in her room and didn't join them. Because of last night's commotion, she felt bad for her mother. Elton Parker arrived late. But instead of sitting down, he propped up on the table with one hand, faced Tom Parker, and said, "If you need a woman other than Sarah North, might as well look for her outside this house. Don't expose here your dark side. We don't want to witness any of those."
