Chapter 579 We're Not Going To Fall
Chapter 579 We're Not Going To Fall
"I told you it doesn't hurt."
Veronica Parker thought how could this man be so hard-headed that he won't even listen to what she had to say! When all she wanted was for him to know that she cared for him, nonetheless.
Nick Cage leaned forward, but Veronica Parker avoided his advances and instead glared at him. "Don't do anything. That's not how the Ferris wheel serves its purpose!"
"Hmm?"
"Just focus your attention on the different scenery outside as the Ferris wheel moves!" She suggested even when she herself couldn't focus her attention other than to Nick Cage whose stares were heavily darting at her.
'Why must she insist that I still need her advice over something like this?'
Nick Cage's black eyes gleamed with an unusual flash, like a wild animal in the forest staring at its probable prey.
Being stared at by Nick Cage was really frightening even when she'd been stared at more frequently! Who wouldn't be when he always gave the kind of look that she was his midday meal!
Nick Cage took her hand and kissed it gently. That moment, all she could ever think of was that his breath was brushing the sensitive part of her hand. The tense that held her hand from earlier seemed to have melted away from his gesture, but she chose to pull her hand from the contact, concerned that it might fill and cloud her head with wondrous things. "I'm going down."
Nick Cage sighed. "Fine."
Veronica Parker was dissatisfied with what Nick Cage said. 'At least let the people below who are operating the Ferris wheel know that we are going down. How else would we get down from here? I wouldn't – not even in a thousand dreams – dare to jump from a hundred-meter drop!'
Not long after, the back of her body was already pressed against the glass window, and the whole cockpit swung vigorously from the sudden movement which startled Veronica Parker.
"Please tell me that it's not going to fall. Right?"
"What are you afraid of when I'm here with you?"
Veronica Parker's taut nerves relaxed a little bit at his assurance. Why, it's true! Nick Cage's pride was much higher than the point where they were now, if she may say so! He's not even worried. But of course, he's worried about nothing!
But she couldn't stay in one place with Nick Cage at close range any longer! Nick Cage eyed her as if he wanted to swallow her any minute from now!
"Are you going to let me – ugh!" Veronica Parker's little words were swallowed back in an instant as soon as bold lips crashed and claimed her plump ones.
The kiss blocked all her worries away. She felt like walking on a tightrope but the kiss instantly clouded her mind with bizarre feelings and cloud nine took over her consciousness. When they broke from the kiss, she was gasping for air, and couldn't process everything that had happened in that split second right away. Her blushing little face did not cover for one bit her swollen lips and her tear-filled eyes.
Nick Cage pinched her chin, picked her up and placed her on a sitting position against his body. She turned and looked through the glass. She wasn't able to think straight after their little show and she couldn't even meet Nick Cage's gaze. Her voice was suppressed and hoarse when she tried to compliment the scenery. "It's a nice view."
Veronica Parker, who recovered from the high, looked at the handsome face of Nick Cage and wondered how this man could beat any moody woman with his unpredictability.
I just looked like I wanted to eat her alive.
"I want to take a better look on the view, so can I sit comfortably on this side?" Veronica Parker tried to get off him.
"Don't move while you're sitting on my lap."
Veronica Parker froze and his eyes twinkled. His eyes seemed to hide the reason why she's not allowed move while she's sitting on his lap. But maybe Nick Cage didn't want her to be so restless when his body was this close to her.
Veronica Parker did not dare to move once again and instead looked outside trying to ignore the sudden change of the ambience wrapping around them.
From a distance, as the Ferris wheel stood motionless, there was only one person in the cockpit that could be seen, not totally knowing that there really were two people inside, only that their shadows were intertwined.
Like a couple.
The next morning, Veronica Parker was riding shotgun in Nick Cage's car to see the six little ones off to school.
As soon as the six little ones saw Veronica Parker, they jumped happily from the overwhelming feeling.
It's a double pleasure to have their parents sending them to school again.
As the door of their classroom opened, Cathy tilted her little head and said, "If we keep on being good kids, Mom will play with us!"
"We can go to school together!" Peter said.
"Let's sleep together!" Lily suggested.
"Wow! That would be great!" Julie exclaimed.
"Hmm-hmm." Josh just timidly seconded all their motions.
"Yes!" Daniel nodded.
Veronica Parker didn't expect them to say that, but she couldn't possibly say no either when the six little ones were all looking at her with those innocent and hopeful eyes.
The presence of Nick Cage next to her made her more stressed.
And the teacher was there, too.
"Mom can see all of you when she is not busy with her work." If Veronica Parker would concede to all of their wishes, wouldn't that be tantamount to living in Winter Villa every day?
She hadn't thought about the idea for the time being.
On their way to the TV station, the atmosphere around them was somewhat uncomfortable.
It was as if choking her!
Veronica Parker couldn't help but look at Nick Cage. He was usually unfathomable, however, the unusual silence between them was absolutely frightening!
She huddled in the corner of the car, weak and restless!
When the car arrived at the parking lot of the TV station, the bodyguard opened the door and before Veronica Parker could even move a muscle, she heard Nick Cage ask, "Where are you going to stay tonight?"
