Chapter 578 We're Up High In The Air
Chapter 578 We're Up High In The Air
After all, Peter was still too young, and there was an especially timid Josh, so basically it didn't have any use.
However, a few minutes later, Veronica Parker was on the Ferris wheel, and sitting across her was Nick Cage.
The two of them were cramped inside that small space that slightly moved with every imperceptible rotation of the Ferris wheel. The atmosphere was becoming even more tensed and uncomfortable.
'The experience of riding the Ferris wheel always have that sense of familiarity that resides in my mind.'
Veronica Parker can't even get her mind into thinking about something else in front of Nick Cage. But for one, she was distracted by his presence for every passing second.
Looking out of the window, the Winter Villa looked so big, luxurious and rigorous from a bird's-eye view.
Even under the vague lights, its architectural style still stood out.
"Have you ridden a Ferris wheel before?" Nick Cage asked with his low voice, obviously restraining himself from asking more.
Veronica Parker nodded her head. "Why? Isn't it normal for me to ride one? There's no girl who hasn't been on one, I guess."
"With who?"
Veronica Parker scowled slightly. "Where is this conversation going? I haven't pried on your life! Have you ever–"
"No."
Before she completed her question, she was already cut off and left speechless!
Veronica Parker's eyes flashed a hint of hesitation and avoided Nick Cage's intense gaze before sighing. "With Toby Cage."
As soon as she finished her sentence, she felt the temperature dropping in that small space like they were going to have a little winter on their own.
Veronica Parker looked back at the expressionless Nick Cage.
Although she felt a little restless, she still found the courage to defend herself, "Isn't that normal? It's not like you aren't aware that I've been in love before! And if you're in love, riding the Ferris wheel isn't uncommon! I can't believe you have no idea about it, Mr. Cage. You asking me those kinds of random questions is such a pain in the neck. Ah!"
The words came to an abrupt end when she was yanked into Nick Cage's arms and she ended up sitting on his firm lap.
Fear coursed through Veronica Parker by his sudden reaction.
Nick Cage's cold black eyes were as deep as an abyss when they darted her timorous ones as if he could see through her soul.
"Do you mean that to ride the Ferris wheel is to fall in love?" Nick Cage lifted his lips slightly, and a low, hoarse voice resonated Veronica Parker's eardrums.
She and Nick Cage were sitting together on the Ferris wheel, but they were not in love. He, of all, should know that.
What a way of interpreting situations, Nick Cage!
"Mr. Cage, do you know what it means to be in a relationship? Do you want me to teach you?" Veronica Parker asked as if challenging him head-on, and how she was able to do that was beyond her own comprehension!
Nick Cage's black eyes conveyed a slight astonishment, and Veronica Parker could see his emotions fluctuating. But, why?
"First of all, riding the Ferris wheel is just riding the Ferris wheel. Nothing more, nothing less!" As Veronica Parker spoke, she tried to break free from Nick Cage's strong hold, but when she couldn't, stared back at him.
Can't this man sit high in the air and not be evil?
Nick Cage raised his hand to squeeze Veronica Parker's chin and pulled her face closer to him, with the proud bridge of her nose almost touching his tipped ones.
His hot breath fanned her before she heard him say, "But you are destined to be mine!"
Veronica Parker was flabbergasted by his declaration and blankly stared at him. Nick Cage's strong words were overbearing that she felt weak and could not argue back because it seemed to be true. "We're up high in the air, so don't do anything. It's dangerous. I'm warning you!"
"Hmm?" Nick Cage's low, hoarse voice was sexy.
Veronica Parker's face flushed. Yes, nothing's much more dangerous than Nick Cage!
When they turned to the highest point, the Ferris wheel ceased to move.
"Why did it stop?" Veronica Parker attempted to diverge both of their attention from what was about to happen and wanted to see for herself the problem, but she was still confined in Nick Cage's arms and his arms were wrapped around her body.
"It's the perfect way for taking in the whole scenery."
Veronica Parker didn't think it was that simple. What kind of scenery was he looking at? She turned to look at whatever Nick Cage was looking at, but she caught him staring warmly at her. After witnessing that, her face felt hot. What was she thinking?
"Hey, put me down already." Veronica Parker struggled yet again.
"Where are you going?" Nick Cage bit her earlobe.
Veronica Parker's brow turned into a frown, her body trembled from the sudden contact of their skins and her breathing became unstable. "You..." She muttered, "Your hand is not ready yet."
