Chapter 577 It's About To Get More Complicated
It didn't look like the person dialed the wrong number. But who was it?
Veronica Parker answered warily, "Who is this?"
"It's me."
Veronica Parker frowned upon hearing the voice from the other line. Clare Parker? Why would she call her? She has a bad feeling about why Clare Parker, of all people, was calling her that night!
"What's the matter?"
"Are you in Winter Villa right now?"
"Where else would I be? You called tonight just to ask me this?" Veronica Parker didn't buy that it's the only thing she's going to ask her.
"I'm asking you this as your sibling. You don't have to be so defensive, you know? No matter the reason of me calling you, I'm your sister, aren't I?"
"Yes." Albeit Clare Parker had no way of seeing her expression right now, Veronica Parker put on a poker face at that fact. "Are you sure you don't have something in your mind that you would like me to hear? There's no point in beating around the bush, just say what you have to say."
Veronica Parker initiated so that Clare Parker would go straight to the point.
"The company is going to cooperate with Up." Clare Parker finally said.
Veronica Parker was just about to ask who the company was going to work with and why it had anything to do with her that she had to make such a special call.
The next moment, however, she was stunned.
Up. Isn't that the name of Toby Cage's company? But was it possible?
"What do you mean?" Veronica Parker tried to stabilize her wavered emotions and calm her nerves upon hearing the news. "Are you saying that..." Before saying the last three words, Veronica Parker looked around her and then lowered her voice for fear of being heard by anybody. "It's Toby Cage?"
"Yes, we're going to Up tomorrow. Would you like to come with us? I think it will be easier for us to cooperate if you came. So, will you go?"
Veronica Parker clenched her teeth. It was really Toby Cage because if it wasn't him, Clare Parker wouldn't have bothered calling her!
She forgot about the ulterior motive of why Clare Parker was disclosing this kind of information to her now. Why would Toby Cage suddenly want to work with Tom Parker's company? Who found whom?
In any case, she won't believe it!
"Don't be too surprised, besides, the business ramifies in all directions. You have connections there in the capital, and we can all earn the money together." Clare Parker told her with her accustomed tone.
Veronica Parker suppressed her emotions once again.
She didn't have any problems with making money together, but there's definitely something wrong with working with Toby Cage!
"Will you join us tomorrow?" Clare Parker asked once more when Veronica Parker didn't give her any answer.
"Why are you rushing me? Don't I get to think about it first? Just give enough time!" Veronica Parker immediately hung up the phone.
She didn't directly tell Clare Parker that she would refuse to cooperate at all, but she also wanted for Tom Parker to ask about it. If he knew, then why didn't he tell her?
But she was currently in Winter Villa. She can't possibly call Tom Parker there – it was way too risky.
This matter must not be overlooked. If Nick Cage would come to know about the cooperation, what would he possibly think?
It wouldn't take a fool for one to associate her relationship between Toby Cage and with Tom Parker's family as soon as she set her foot to Up the moment she decided to agree in their cooperation. What would happen when the time comes that she and Toby Cage would finally meet? She's afraid that they'd have more opportunities to cross paths sooner or later!
Nick Cage hasn't become horrible enough to tear her up! At least, not yet.
Feeling antsy more than ever, she took a stroll to the park and looked at the bright lights there, shining under the starry sky. For a moment, she wanted the uneasiness she felt to just fade away.
Veronica Parker turned around and was about to sit on the swing from nearby, but she was startled by a silhouette behind her!
"Oh, my God!" Veronica Parker stepped back, covered her chest and stared at the formidable man in front of her. "You scared me!"
"What are you thinking about?" Nick Cage looked at her with those sharp black eyes of his.
"I was just wondering about how high the Ferris wheel is!" Veronica Parker composed herself from the shock and pointed back.
No matter what, she had to be careful around him. Nick Cage was so shrewd that he could sniff even the slightest whiff of anomaly from around him.
"120 meters."
"That high?" Veronica Parker looked back.
"Do you want to ride it?"
"What?" Veronica Parker was stunned for a moment. She didn't think about it at all. She just wanted to have something to tell to him so he wouldn't notice that she's hiding something from him.
The Ferris wheel was an indispensable part of the park's facilities, towering and unsurprisingly romantic.
Veronica Parker believed that in Winter Villa's Paradise, the Ferris wheel was just an aesthetic background that stood just to complete the park.
