Chapter 803 Messy Schedule
Chapter 803 Messy Schedule
"Can you help me?" Veronica expressed doubt. Kay is a person Nick treated as a confidant. How can he help her? If he doesn't follow Nick behind, she will thank his family for offering help. "No need!"
After she turned around and attempted to leave, Veronica took two steps and looked back at Kay.
"Did you think there was something wrong with Nick just now?"
"His schedule is a little messy."
"Oh, it's all right." Veronica turned and walked away.
"You want to know from me whether Mr. Cage has any signs of injury. If you are so concerned, why don't you just ask him yourself?" Kay said.
Veronica's back froze. She relaxed after a second or two and turned to look at him. "As you said, why not just answer? It was because I only care. After all, he is the father of the six little ones."
"Do you know what you mean by care?"
The corners of Veronica's mouth went a little stiff. "Never mind, it's nothing." With that, she turned around and leave.
'Shouldn't I care? What's wrong with having care and concern for Nick? It would be difficult for him to appear in front of the six little ones with all his injuries.' She reasoned out silently.
Even so, she still felt how cheap her 'concern' is.
She didn't contact Toby to ask how he was doing.
With Suzanne there by his side, she doesn't have to worry.
In her current state, she doesn't even know who the problem lies with.
Is it Toby? Her? Was it still Nick Cage or both? With that questions in her mind that bugged her for a long time, she couldn't help but be engulfed with confusion.
Whenever she wants to stay, fate wouldn't allow her and she can't stay. Every time she wants to escape, she can't escape. Veronica was confused.
After a long time of thinking deeply, she decided to sit on the stairwell. When Nick found her, he doesn't know what she was meditating on.
The meditative Veronica heard footsteps that stopped behind her. The air was slightly turbulent, such as the uneasiness invaded the atmosphere. It was as if an oppressive aura was present that tightened her throat.
She didn't move and asked. "Can I go now?"
"Let's eat."
Veronica hesitated for a second. She stood up, turned her back on Nick Cage. He was tall and handsome. His suit has been changed. It was as if his schedule wasn't messy as contrary to what Kay said.
He stretched out his right hand and gently grabbed her chin and made her face him while his mind was wandering.
Veronica's eyes trembled slightly. Her eyes fell on the palm of Nick in front of him. His life and career were stable and clearly determined, but his love life was blurred and in chaos.
She didn't believe it, but when she saw him, she couldn't help feeling his touch.
Nick stretched out his hand and caged her. Veronica felt a persevering compulsion but she had no room to retreat.
After she hesitated, Veronica finally put her hand in the palms of Nick.
"The other hand." Nick Cage lowered his voice and mumbled.
She understood what he meant. The hand he wanted was the one held by Toby at the TV station.
'This guy is so unfathomable.'
She did not give her other hand, Instead, she stood straight up and tried to jerk away from Nick. But then, he tightened his grasp on her waist and pressed her against the white wall.
His action made her difficult to breathe.
"Nick." Veronica frowned. "What are you doing?"
"You don't want to?"
"You are inexplicable!"
Nick forcefully clenched her hand that was in the palm of his hand. He tightened his clasp and stared at her aggressively with his black eyes. "What's the problem?"
His hot and minty breath tickled her face. Veronica's lips shuddered. She felt uncomfortable, but she couldn't avoid his domineering moves. "Nick, let me go! Didn't you say we'll eat?"
"I'd rather eat you."
"You!" Veronica gasped and stared at him in horror.
"Since you can't be with Toby, stay with me. Alright? " Nick kissed her soft lips and spoke with a hoarse voice. "I will be nice to you, Veronica. Only to you."
In that case, she can't help but be enamored with his words.
Once she had such hope, but after hearing Nick's promise, her heart was broken. She laughs at her naivety. She is only the mother of six children in her life. Nothing more, nothing less.
She vowed to herself that she should not have wishful thinking. Otherwise, she'll be disappointed again.
