Chapter 802 Severing Ties
Chapter 802 Severing Ties
Veronica was nervous. She doesn't want to have any physical connection with Nick.
She's extremely scared, afraid of what will happen to herself.
She knew that she can only be guarded and can only be safe if she kept her distance away from Nick. The only question is, can she?
Veronica was clueless about where he would take her. Even if she looked calm and composed on the surface, she was frightened all the way!
When she got out of the car, Veronica found that the skyscraper of KING Group was in front of her.
She was confused why are they are here.
Veronica went in behind Nick and saw someone she knew at the receptionist. They were Sheila and Venus Noys, the receptionist of the high-rise building Nick owned. They stood there respectfully to welcome them.
Veronica hurriedly followed Nick into his office while he began to work as if she were not there.
But even so, Veronica was still at loss.
Nick explored all over her body with inviolable awe. Whenever he seemed to touch her even just a little, her calmness that she controlled under the tension always went out of control!
As she recalled this scene and reaction, Veronica was even more afraid to ask him anything. She remained silent which is better than experiencing that kind of thing again because of Nick.
Veronica sat on the sofa in his office. There are two high-level people in and out of the office, as well as Kay Tours.
Kay greeted her when he came in. "Long time no see, Veronica!"
"Hello, Secretary Tours!" Veronica answered him with a warm smile, then stood up and left the office.
Nick Cage raised his black eyes and looked at the door, deep and sinister!
After Veronica went out, she tried to slip away from the grasp of Nick.
As soon as she got to the elevator door, she was stopped by a bodyguard who appeared out of the blue.
She walked to the safety stairs, and the haunted bodyguard reappeared that made her hand that was pushing the door stiff.
She was so angry that she had to go back.
"Hey! Veronica Parker!" When Josephine, one of the Secretarial Department saw her, she stepped forward and gently pushed her shoulder. "What are you doing here? Did you just get out from Mr. Cage's office?"
"Hmm-hmm." She hummed in response.
"Did Mr. Cage ask you to go back to the Secretarial Department?" Josephine asked happily.
"Yes, he had the nerve to hire me to the Secretarial Department with a high salary, but I refused!"
Josephine was stunned. After all, who in the right mind would refuse such a beneficial offer? Besides, working under the King's Group can be considered a privilege.
"I'm kidding you."
"How dare you scold Mr. Cage' for being cheeky?" Josephine lowered her voice, almost enough to be heard only for Veronica's ear.
Veronica thought for a moment. 'Is being cheeky a curse?' It was too light to scold Nick for bringing her here forcefully.
"Are you in love with Mr. Cage now?" Josephine asked furtively. "If so, you'd better help us quickly!"
"What's the matter?"
"I forgot when it started. Mr. Cage became terrible! Don't move! He fires people even with just a petty reason! I'm so afraid that one day it will be my turn to be fired! Also, it doesn't go through Secretary Tours! Don't you see that the atmosphere in the whole group is very strange?"
Veronica felt it, too. "Don't you feel it? Besides, I'm not in love with him!"
Josephine looked incredulous. "If you're not in a relationship, why would Mr. Cage let you join the group?"
Before Veronica Parker spoke, Kay came over behind them and said. "Slacking off to work?"
Josephine was startled. "Head Secretary Tours! I'm not slacking off. I just saw Veronica and said hello. I'm going to work now!" With that, she ran away. It was as if she was stepping on a fire wheel on her feet.
"Is there too much work? Why did you stutter?" Kay said to himself in bewilderment, and then looked at Veronica with a serious but kind face. "This is where you used to work, so you can come back here more often whenever you are bored."
Veronica's face glazed for a moment.
'This is not my house, and there is no old friend here. Why should I come back and have a look?' Confused, she can't help but said it to herself.
"What can I do for you? As the right-hand man of Mr. Cage, I will certainly lend a helping hand!"
