Chapter 97 Veronica Is Thirsty
Chapter 97 Veronica Is Thirsty
She had nothing to eat nor drink.
It was her third day, if she does not consume anything now, she might reach her limit. If she only had water, she can last for at least another week.
But Veronica thought, what if she replaces water with wine? How long will she last? She guessed it won't hurt to try.
Veronica walked feebly towards the wine cabinet. She overestimated her body and she was weak, even a breeze of wind can stumble her down.
Veronica, who didn't know anything about wine, took a bottle with a golden cap off the shelf and it was heavy enough to almost drag her down.
She couldn't hold up anymore and just sit on the floor with a bottle opener and a wine.
She broke a sweat and it took about ten minutes before she finally pulled out the wine cap, after that she started to look pale and got weaker.
She couldn't find a cup so she drank straight from the bottle.
Veronica took her first drink and had a weird look on her face and said, "Well, this will do. I guess."
The taste of the wine was strong but it served as a life-saving fluid to Veronica, so she took a mouthful and poured it straight into her stomach with a delicate frown.
Hunger made her palate oblivious and she drank the expensive wine like water.
After she drank half of her bottle, Veronica looked at the wine cabinet and thought, since there are so many kinds of wine, why drink only one flavor?
She stood up as if her strength came back and took a big gulp from the bottle in her hand.
Veronica took a long look at the bottles of wine in the cabinet, trying to figure out which one tastes better.
She finally took one out, opened the cap, and drank straight from it.
"Ugh! This doesn't taste good either." Her face was filled with disgust after taking two gulps from it and casually put down the bottle. She climbed up again and tried another flavor.
After tasting different flavors of wine, she cannot believe she didn't find one that suits her taste and got furious. She threw the bottle she was holding and with a bang, the bottle fell to the ground and the wine inside gurgled out.
Veronica smacked her lips and she got paler out of hunger but after drinking more wine her face flushed. She chose to ignore her growling stomach and went on looking for more wine.
Veronica chose another bottle and sat on the ground. As time went by, she opened more in a row and tasted every single one of them. She took a mouthful of the better tasting wines and ignored the bad ones.
Finally, she felt her stomach full but later on felt strange and her whole body wobbled violently.
She laid on the ground and giggled twice before she fell asleep. She was obviously so drunk.
At five o'clock, Nick came back from the King Group. He threw his coat to Bob and pulled his necktie loose.
"How's it going?" he said in a low voice.
Bob knew what he meant, so he bowed and responded, "Mr. Cage, the wine cellar is quiet. I haven't heard any noise from her since yesterday."
Nick's black eyes narrowed slightly and lost glimmer.
"Without consuming anything for three days, she must have reached her limit. She might not even have the strength to make noises." Bob added.
Without saying a word, Nick turned and headed straight to the basement with a cold and unfathomable aura.
Bob followed hurriedly.
The guard saw Nick coming and quickly opened the door.
As soon as they walked in, there was no sign of Veronica but they smelled the strong scent of wine.
Nick's deep face suddenly froze and his black eyes were filled with luster.
Bob, who came in after him, understood what was going on and hurriedly roamed to look for Veronica.
The first thing he saw was the cluttered empty bottles and the spilled wine on the floor next to the shelf.
The wine was valuable and he frowned when he saw it on the ground.
