Chapter 48
The next day, I left for the office early. I also didn't forget to bring the present that I planned to give today in my bag. Since the size of the present I was going to give to him was big enough for the sling bag with the frog pattern that I always wear every time I go to work to put inside of it, I decided to take a dark brown tote bag that I haven't used for a long time. Then I put my present inside of that bag and brought it together to the office.
I stepped on my legs with excitement. Usually, I would go to the office by bus. But because today I went to the office earlier than usual, I decided to walk from home. I turned on Google Fit to count the steps and calories I spend walking to work, and I started walking.
Actually, I wasn't really that excited. Instead, I felt a little anxious because I kept thinking about the various scenarios that would occur once I handed the present I had prepared for my dog. First, Dominik might be disappointed with me because of what happened last Saturday, and would not want to accept my present.
Second, I didn't have the courage to hand over the present and apologize for the incident last Saturday. But for this one, the chance was pretty slim. Third, he gave me absolutely no chance to explain anything and avoided me as much as he could.
"Hopefully the three biggest possibilities I think about at the moment won't happen." I said, sighing while holding my bag tightly. My steps, which had been paused for thinking about these scenarios, finally returned to walking until I arrived at a minimarket located not far from my office. I then immediately stopped my footsteps and looked straight at the minimarket that was now in front of me.
After considering it for almost five minutes, I finally entered the convenience store. The voice of the convenience store employee greeting me made me turn to him with a short smile. The minimarket employee's face immediately turned red, and I didn't care about his reaction at this time. My hand then moved to take some red Soyjoy packs and walked towards the refrigerator. My eyes were so busy exploring the contents of the refrigerator until finally, I found my favorite chocolate-flavored milk box, which was on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator.
Accidentally, I saw brand new chocolate milk that I had never seen before, standing neatly next to the brand of chocolate milk that I usually buy. I thought carefully before taking the boxed milk with the same taste as the one I bought earlier and comparing the two kinds of milk.
The first brand was my favorite brand. There was no doubt about taste. Also, the branding composition was not much, proving that the company wanted to make their dairy product as natural as possible without using a lot of additives. But the price was not friendly in my pocket, so I'm a little hesitant to buy it.
The second brand. According to their claim, this milk can help control cholesterol and body weight without sacrificing the delicious taste of chocolate milk. It's just that, when checking the composition, there were so many additives that the company uses.
Actually, it was not without reason that I held the two boxes of milk with the same taste. I just did not believe the claims made by the second box milk manufacturer. But the second brand costs 50% cheaper if I buy two boxes. Maybe because it's still new, so they want to offer a limited price offer to potential customers. Moreover, my salary last month started running low. So I have to start saving before I get my salary this month. If I did not save my money from now, I might end up eating dirt before my payday arrived. With a heavy heart, I had to put down the boxed milk of my favorite brand and chose to believe the second milk claim.
Then I walked to the cashier, where the minimarket employee stood pretending to clean the shelves behind him. The man immediately stuttered as soon as he saw me standing at the cashier and immediately directed one of the items I bought for scanning.
"Do you have a membership?" asked the minimarket employee earlier. I nodded my head and pulled my smartphone out of my bag, looked for the Stocard app, and handed my smartphone to the cashier. The convenience store clerk nodded his head and scanned the barcode on the app before giving it back to me. Then he returned to scan the items that I bought earlier while occasionally glancing at me.
I just replied by pretending not to see it. My eyes then glanced at the small noticeboard, which lists the items that were on sale today and offers additional discounts if I use a digital wallet. I immediately took out my smartphone and checked one of the digital payment applications that were accepted by the minimarket, which fortunately still has enough balance to pay for my purchases today.
"I would like to pay with digital payments." I said, to which he nodded his head back. I opened the digital payment application accepted by this convenience store and gave the barcode to be scanned by the cashier. Then the person handed back my smartphone, and I checked for a while before the transaction was deemed complete. I put my smartphone back into the bag, along with my shopping earlier.
I smiled politely at the employee, who replied with a clumsy smile before I left the convenience store. After leaving the minimarket, I returned to continue my journey to the office. I slowed my footsteps even more as soon as I saw my office, which would be my destination place.
"Come on, Leah. You can do it." I said, trying to encourage myself. I then started walking at a normal speed until I arrived in front of his office building, which looked so tall and big. The name of the company I work for, Mason Inc. was clearly displayed in front of the fountain, which was located a few meters in front of the entrance.
"Huff… here goes nothing." I said before stepping my foot into the office. I greeted the security guard and receptionist, who had arrived earlier than the others with a friendly smile, and they greeted me kindly. Then I walked into the elevator, which felt quieter than usual.
"Looks like nothing is different between me arriving earlier or late. It still looks quiet." I said with a deep sigh. I then glanced at the elevator wall covered with glass and smoothed my current appearance. As soon as the sound of the elevator indicating that I had arrived at my destination floor sounded, I immediately turned towards the elevator door and waited for the elevator door to open. Then I walked quickly, leaving the elevator to my department.
When I was about to open the door to my department, I felt someone's hand preventing me from entering my room. I then looked behind me for a moment and I was surprised to see Dominik, who was holding my hand from entering my department's room.
"Dominik?"
"To my office. Now." said my boyfriend without giving me a chance to protest further. His hands roughly immediately pulled me away from my room to his room. As usual, I wouldn't let him grab my hand like this. But because I was in a good mood and since I was in such a good mood, I decided to just let him keep pulling me until he arrived in front of his room.
Once we arrived at the door of his room, he opened the door roughly and pushed me into his room. I took the opportunity to place my handbag carefully on the table near the sofa. He followed me inside, closed the door to the room, and locked it. Before he had time to turn around after locking the door to his room, I immediately pushed him until his back hit the door. My right hand held him from moving anywhere, while my left raised his chin, forcing him to look up at me.
"I just left you for two week and you already act as if I am not your Master. How dare you to put that kind of attitude in front of me, Dominik Lawrence?"
He shook my left hand and turned his face away from me. "Let me go. It's because you are so annoying that I do not even want to consider you as my Master anymore."
