Don't Say Goodbye
"So, how do you know that Kimberly is the granddaughter of Arthur Sanjaya?" asked Nicholas curiously.
This afternoon after work, Nicholas and Jacob chose to stop first at a coffee shop to chat. Ah yes, don't forget Edward. As a cheerleader and a hurricane team, he was also present, how could a moment like this man want to be left behind.
Jacob himself actually has a plan to come to Indonesia. He had an important meeting to attend. Even the day after tomorrow, after following the event, he must immediately return to London. Considering there was no one to take his place. Jacob took a sip of the coffee he had been holding before answering.
"When I found out you were close to your secretary, I had already told Hans to investigate Kimberly's background. The woman you thought was normal is, in fact, the granddaughter of a conglomerate from Singapore. But in recent years, after being left behind by his wife and children, Arthur chose to stay in Los Angeles and continue his business here. However, due to the deteriorating conditions, Arthur entrusted Marco Adiatma to take care of all his business."
"Wait a minute..." Nicholas interrupted. The man raised a hand. Ask Jacob to stop talking. "Who did you say?" he asked.
Jacob's brow furrowed deeply. "You mean?"
Nicholas nodded. "Yes, what was the name of the person you mentioned who is in charge of Sanjaya Corp's business now."
"Marco Adiatma?" Jacob asked for sure.
"Yes, the name is very familiar to my ears," replied Nicholas.
Jacob then took his phone out of his pocket, looked for something, and showed it to Nicholas.
"This is Marco Adiatma." Nicholas grabbed the cellphone that Jacob had handed over and looked carefully at the photo on the screen. The next second, Nicholas's eyes were perfect.
"Jesus! This is a man I often run into. He is also the one who claimed to be Kimberly's fiancé last night---"
"Don't forget, he also beat you up," Edward replied. The man spoke in a deliberately mocking tone.
Nicholas took a deep breath. "Yes, I know I'm wrong. After all, I was emotional that night to say Kimberly was a slut."
Edward was stunned. He didn't expect that the excessively arrogant master would admit his own mistakes this time. This is a scarce thing to happen. "You're not drunk, are you?" joked Edward. Nicholas frowned in surprise. "What do you mean by this, Ed?"
Edward chuckled. "I didn't expect you to say sorry. Not that your pride was more important all this time," Edward mocked openly.
Nicholas looked at Edward disinterestedly. "Never mind, Ed. I'm not in the mood to argue. I'm wondering who exactly is the man with Kimberly right now?" Nicholas was made so curious.
Jacob took over the conversation. "Marco Adiatma is the eldest son and owner of the Adiatma Group. He has been Kimberly's best friend since childhood. According to Hans's report, the man should indeed be engaged to Kimberly. But the plan was not carried out because Kimberly refused and suddenly left the house." Jacob explained at length.
Finally, Nicholas knew who the person who had passed him and Kimberly was several times. He also knew what the man said when he claimed to be Kimberly's fiancé, not a figment. Knowing this fact, Nicholas felt that his hopes of getting Kimberly back were slimmer.
"Jac ..." Nicholas, originally downcast, now raised his face and looked closely at Jacob. "Are you also investigating where the Sanjaya family lives? "
Nicholas must know where Kimberly lives. He was determined to meet the woman soon. He wanted to resolve all the problems between them and apologize for all the stupid things he had done.
Jacob nodded. "Of course, I know where Kimberly lives. I'll send you the location. Maybe the day after tomorrow when you are off work you can go there. But... there's one problem."
"What's the problem?" Nicholas asked, confused.
"One, I'm not sure Kimberly would want to have you at her house. Two, Arthur Sanjaya is a person who is difficult to approach. Even if Kimberly finally forgives you and wants to come back with you, I'm not sure Arthur will immediately agree. Not to mention Marco's very dominant position in the Sanjaya family."
After listening to all the possibilities that Jacob explained to him, Nicholas sat limply. It was possible that what the man predicted could happen. Significantly if Marco reported to Arthur what Nicholas had done to Kimberly, Nicholas massaged his forehead, which suddenly felt dizzy. His brain seemed to be stuck. So many plans he had to do with Kimberly.
First, I had to apologize. Second, I had to convince Kimberly. Third, I had to seduce Kimberly. to come back to me. And lastly, convincing Grandpa Kimberly to approve of our relationship. Nicholas exhaled in frustration. The self-confidence that he had so far seemed to overflow and go somewhere. All that remains now is despair.
"Jac ..." Nicholas muttered again. "What should I do? I feel pessimistic about Kimberly." Nicholas's face dropped languidly. He acted as if there was no other chance.
"Jesus, Nicholas Alistair. It's not even warring, yet you've waved the white flag. Are you male or female, huh? Why are you so soft." Edward was unmitigated insulting Nicholas. At the same time, Jacob could only laugh at the man's ramblings.
Nicholas growled. "Instead of being busy insulting me, you better help me think about how to find Kimberly as soon as possible."
Edward rose from his seat. "You like to trouble yourself, Nicholas. Instead of worrying about all the possibilities that may not necessarily happen, you'd better hurry up and meet Kimberly at the big family's house. Finished speaking at length, Edward walked away, leaving Nicholas and Jacob sitting quietly watching his behavior.
***
Saturday morning, Nicholas ventured to go to Kimberly's real house. Armed with the address given by Jacob, he immediately drove his vehicle to an elite and private area in the middle of Los Angeles. After spending twenty minutes are driving, Nicholas finally arrived at a magnificent house surrounded by many security officers.
He was afraid to go down. But that's all he does not need to do. He thought, what's the point of Edward coming if he can't be relied on. Nicholas deliberately took Edward with him. He was so sure the man's presence was needed this time for some reason. For example, yes, like now. Edward lazily got out of the car to approach a group of security officers on guard in front of Arthur Sanjaya's house.
Edward snorted in annoyance. "Turn dirty business like this. You just think of me as a friend. You insolent!" a moment later, full of confidence, Edward got out of the car and approached the security post.
"Excuse me..." Edward said to one of the officers standing guard in front of the post. The officer turned his head, examined Edward's appearance from head to toe, and then answered.
"Can I help you?"
Edward nodded. "Is this Miss Kimberly's residence? I want to meet her. I happen to be her friend," said Edward. He tried his best to keep his face calm and reassuring.
"Sorry, Miss Kimberly isn't home." replied the officer with a straight face.
"On the way out? Does it usually take a long time or a short time to go out?"
After the sentence was said, Edward felt like cursing his mouth. As a result of that question, the security officer's face immediately turned suspicious. Edward sensed it. What kind of question is this Edward. Why are you being as stupid as Nicholas now?
"I don't know the duration. As far as I know, Mr. Marco picked up Miss Kimberly to go to the airport," replied the officer.
Edward frowned in surprise. "Airport? Miss Kimberly wants to go out of town? With Marco?"
The officer looked back at Edward sharply. "Actually, who are you? Why are you asking so many questions?"
If only you had known that I was descended from the most respected Scottish aristocrat, perhaps you would not have taken me lightly like this. You look at me like I'm a terrorist. After all, where can there be a bad person as handsome as me?
"I-me?" Edward hesitated as he pointed to himself. "Me, Kimberly's friend. We haven't seen each other in a long time. That's why I'm here," Edward boasted. "But sorry, I ask again, has Kimberly been gone for a long time?"
The officer did not immediately answer. He looked back at Edward with a questioning look. However, it didn't take long to answer finally.
"Just about ten minutes ago. If nothing else is needed, you'd better get out of here. Your arrival is indeed suspicious."
Edward bowed respectfully and immediately pulled his feet towards the car without being asked twice. Nicholas, who had been waiting impatiently for a long time, immediately asked questions. "How? Can we come in? Kimberly is inside, right?"
Edward sighed. "Hurry up and get your car to the airport." Nicholas pulled his face in. Of course, he was confused. Instead of going in, why go to the airport.
"Why are we going to the airport?"
"Kimberly went to the airport with Marco," Edward answered quickly.
"Where are they going?" Nicholas asked as he turned the wheel towards the location Edward had informed.
"Probably going for a swim!" Edward replied naturally. "It could be that they want to travel out of town or abroad or even off the planet. I'm not sure why. The officer didn't tell you. So you better catch up before it's too late!"
Edward looked annoyed. The longer he thought Nicholas, the less he could think straight. Heartbroken people are primarily stupid people, according to him. Or is it just Nicholas who is ridiculous?
Spurring the vehicle at an above-average speed, Nicholas's car finally started to enter Airport area. Now, neither of them knew where to look for Kimberly. Whether to the departure terminal in the country or abroad, given Edward's lack of information.
"Where should we look for this, Ed?" Nicholas asked, confused. Edward growled as he groaned. "How do I know, the one Kimberly's lover is Nicholas Alistair, not me. Think for a moment where he might go with Marco."
Nicholas was silent. From behind the wheel, he tried to think hard. Guessing where Kimberly might go. Until out of nowhere came the belief that Kimberly would go abroad. He directed his car into the particular departure terminal area for overseas without warning.
"Are you sure you want to find him here?" Edward asked when the car they were traveling in had stopped in the parking area.
Nicholas nodded confidently. "I don't know why I have a feeling that Kimberly will go to Singapore. You heard Jacob's story yesterday that Kimberly was originally from there. Their company is also based there. There's nothing wrong with me guessing like that."
Edward nodded too. "Smart! I thought your brain was frozen." joked Edward. At times the man was insulting at a critical time like this.
"Now, let's hurry before it's too late." take Nicholas. Half-running, Edward and Nicholas started to enter the departure terminal.
Had been restrained by airport officials because they were deemed to have no interest, Edward immediately bought two departure tickets to Singapore via an online application to be allowed to enter.
Their struggle was not in vain. Airport officials finally permitted entry. Nicholas's gaze began to wander in all directions. Look in every corner of the room. He entered the executive lounge one by one, searching for Kimberly's whereabouts.
"I hope I'm not late. I don't know why I feel like this is my last chance to see each other."
While wandering, Nicholas rubbed his face roughly. I beg God, show me where is Kimberly. After reciting those words, Nicholas's prayer seemed to be answered by God. His netra caught the woman sitting in a lounge while waiting for her flight schedule. Nicholas approached quickly. When they were very close, He stopped in his tracks.
Staring closely at the woman sipping the drink in front of her. When she turned her head, their eyes met. Nicholas remembered and was very sure that Kimberly smiled at him. But when he was about to go forward, a man beside Kimberly stopped his pace.
"What are you here for?" asked the man, who was none other than Marco. Kimberly immediately got up from her seat and pulled Marco quickly.
"Don't make a fuss here. Let me talk to him one last time."
Marco nodded. Then glared at Nicholas. "Only ten minutes, no more!" Kimberly then pulled Nicholas to sit on an empty lounge chair. "What do you want to talk about? Hurry up, and I don't have much time."
Nicholas took a breath. "Forgive me." Those were the first words that came out of Nicholas's lips. "I have already forgiven you," Kimberly answered flatly. The expression on his face was hard to predict.
Nicholas grabbed Kimberly's wrists and squeezed them gently. "Please, come back. I'm sorry for any actions I may have offended you. I'm sorry, Kimmy." beg Nicholas compassionately.
"I told you, I have forgiven you," replied Kimberly again.
"Then let's go home. Don't leave me again, Kimberly." Right after that, Kimberly immediately withdrew her hands. She shook her head many times.
"Sorry I can't be with you anymore, Nicholas. You don't love me---"
"I love you, Kimberly, love you very much," Nicholas cut in quickly. Kimberly shook her head again.
"No, you don't love me. If so, why did you spy on me when I left yesterday? Don't you have the slightest bit of faith in me?"
Nicholas sighed in frustration. "I'm sorry again. I don't mean to distrust you. It's all my stupidity. Please come back. In what way should I convince you to come back to me?"
Between their conversation, Marco, from a distance, called Kimberly. I was signaling that their plane was about to depart. "Sorry, I can't get back to you, Nicholas. Nothing can convince me to come back to you. In the past, I loved you, but you wasted my love. You're too busy and engrossed in pain from your past," Kimberly said.
"It's not like that, Kimmy..." Nicholas seemed at a loss for words to answer, let alone argue.
"You're too lost in your past, Nicholas. You're so haunted by heartache that you don't fully trust me. How can I live with a man who has been suspicious of me all his life? Instead of begging me to come back, you better rearrange your heart."
Kimberly then got up from her seat, preparing to follow Marco, who had walked off to the plane. "I have to leave now. Maybe we'll never see each other again. I hope that after I leave, your life will be much better." Kimberly then walked away, leaving Nicholas, who was sitting still.
"Kimberly..." Nicholas called suddenly until the woman turned back. "I will prove everything I said to you."
Kimberly just smiled then returned to continue her steps without paying attention to Nicholas, who looked confused behind her.
