Distance Apart
Nicholas sat pensively in Kimberly's room in his apartment. Ever since she left, Nicholas had spent most of his time here. He was reminiscing while looking at the woman's photo. Not infrequently, he fell asleep there.
Even after so long holding back, today Nicholas could no longer hold back his tears. The tears had already fallen down his cheeks. The pain he felt right now was more stinging than knowing Briana had an affair behind his back.
Nicholas remembered the first time he asked Kimberly to be his pretend girlfriend. How hard the woman initially refused but for no apparent reason suddenly agreed. Nicholas had considered Kimberly an annoying woman.
He even blatantly called the woman, not his type. But, as time went on, I don't know when exactly, Nicholas felt Kimberly's presence was able to give its color to his life. Living under the same roof with Kimberly doesn't necessarily make him confess his love.
Stupid Nicholas already knew Kimberly liked him. Why did he still doubt the woman's sincerity? Now, take a look. He must bear all the deeds he did. Then how to convince Kimberly to want to come back with him.
Is there any guarantee that Marco will not take the woman? Two days after his last meeting with Kimberly at the airport. At Edward's suggestion, he finally hires a detective to find out about Kimberly. Where the woman went, her destination, where she lived, even other important information, he was determined to win back Kimberly's heart.
" I miss you, Kimberly. I miss you so much."
Nicholas took a deep breath. Either way,
" I'll take it to get you back. Whatever that is. I will do everything for you."
Finished reciting the sentence in his heart, Nicholas's apartment bell rang. A little lazy, the man got up and dragged his feet to open the door. He already knew who had come to his apartment this time.
"What took so long? I nearly broke your apartment door."
Who else but Edward protested. The man immediately walked inside and sat on the sofa, not even invited in.
Nicholas took a deep breath. He was lazy to serve Edward. But considering the man who had always been helping his lately, he couldn't help but be kind.
"Have you had dinner?" Edward asked then.
Nicholas shook his head slowly. "I'm not in the mood to eat, Ed. Besides, what business did you come here for? Is there some office business you want to settle with me?"
It was Edward's turn to shake his head. "Do you have to do business first before I can visit your apartment?"
"It is not like that," said Nicholas quickly.
"So what?" Edward inquired. "If you want to know why I'm here, I'm just worried about you."
Hearing that, Nicholas, who previously had a sad face on, suddenly chuckled.
It confused Edward. Then he blinked in surprise. "Why are you laughing? Anything funny?"
Nicholas smiled now. "I find it funny. You act like my girlfriend."
Edward sneered. "I told you a long time ago, and your best friend is me, not Jacob. Look now, who cares about your situation other than me?"
Nicholas nodded slowly. "Ok. This time I admit what you said. You can indeed be relied on. Although sometimes your words make me sick."
Of course, Nicholas was fed up. Although Edward often said silly things, almost a hundred percent of what the man said about him was always true. Nicholas also sometimes wonders what happened to him.
"Are you still thinking about Kimberly?" Edward asked suddenly.
Nicholas took a deep breath. "How can I not think about it. I'm at a loss as to what else I should do so that Kimberly will forgive and come back to me."
Nicholas's face softened again. Edward took a deep breath and then thought why his best friend is always so bad and unlucky in love affairs. Is he cursed never to be happy? Who knows. Only God can answer.
"Then why don't you follow her? Go after her wherever Kimberly goes," Edward ordered.
Nicholas shook his head weakly. "Where do you want to go next? I don't even know for sure where Kimberly is now. We both know their plane left for Singapore yesterday. But the question is whether it's the final destination or just a transit. The detectives I hired haven't found the exact location of where Kimberly is. are now."
Nicholas was made almost desperate. Not wanting to see his friend again drowning in sadness, Edward then got up from his seat and immediately pulled Nicholas's arm towards the apartment's exit.
"Where are you going again?" Nicholas asked, confused.
"Save your sadness. We'll go to dinner first at the restaurant on the ground floor," Edward ordered. The man continued to pull Nicholas's arm until he left the apartment unit. "I'm not hungry, Ed." refuse Nicholas.
But Edward did not respond in the slightest. The man continued to insist. "You have to eat to be strong enough to live your hard life, Nicholas. There's no denying this time." Nicholas finally gave in to follow where Edward had taken him.

Marco never took his eyes and concentration away from Kimberly. The woman is currently undergoing a final observation and examination before entering the operating room. Today, precisely two days, they are in Singapore.
Marco chose Mount Elizabeth Hospital as a place for Kimberly to undergo surgery for ovarian cancer in her hospital. From her face, Kimberly looked so calm. It was Marco who had been feeling worried all this time. All kinds of evil thoughts flashed through his mind. Afraid that the woman's surgery failed.
"Don't worry, and this operation will work." Kimberly tried to calm Marco. He knew he must be worried right now.
After checking the blood pressure, the nurses gave Marco some time to talk before Kimberly was moved to the operating room.
Marco grabbed Kimberly's wrist. "I don't know why. I'm the one feeling nervous right now. But I'm sure you'll be fine, Kimmy."
Kimberly nodded. "I need to get better. I still have a lot of work to do. You should also remember your promise to teach me how to run a company."
Marco tightened his grip on his hand. "After all this is over, and you're fully healed, I promise I'll do whatever you ask," Marco said earnestly. On the sidelines of their conversation, the nurse came back and asked permission to bring Kimberly immediately. "You will recover. I will always be waiting for you out there. Don't give up, Kimmy. Fight in there for grandpa. Remember, whatever happens to you in the future, I will always be by your side."
Kimberly smiled sadly. From the beginning until now, Marco has always been by his side. The man never left her. Kimberly even felt that she owed him too much. "I'll be back. I'll be fine for you too."
After that, Kimberly's body was swiftly removed and taken to the operating room. Marco himself followed and chose to wait outside the room. While waiting for Kimberly, Marco's concentration was diverted when Arthur suddenly appeared at the hospital.
The man unannounced followed them there. Marco immediately got up and walked over to Arthur. He led the middle-aged man to sit in one of the available waiting chairs directly. He was well aware that the man's health had not fully recovered. Marco also had to make sure that Arthur wasn't tired when he was out of the house.
"How is Kimberly? Has she had her surgery for a long time." Arthur asked anxiously. He was terrified that something would endanger his grandson's life. No, he didn't want to lose the only descendant and sole heir of the Sanjaya family.
Marco tried to calm down even though he was actually no less worried now. "Probably just about an hour ago. The doctor said it would take three to five hours to complete the operation." Marco explained at length.
Arthur took a deep breath. He smiled, seeing Marco faithfully waiting for his grandson. It was not wrong for her to have wanted to match Kimberly with that man.
Apart from being responsible, Marco can look after and protect Kimberly in the future. "Every day, grandpa is getting impatient to marry you and Kimberly," Arthur said suddenly. It made Marco look up at him for a moment.
"Let Kimberly choose her partner. I'm afraid she'll run away again if Grandpa keeps forcing her to marry me," Marco said wisely. But the reason he gave was valid. He didn't want her to run away again like before.
Arthur flashed a smile. "Kimberly won't run away. She won't refuse grandpa's request this time," Arthur said confidently. To him, what he had ordered would indeed happen quickly.
Marco returned Arthur's smile. "I'm not going to argue with what Opa ordered. If we have to get married, I'll do it,"
Arthur and Marco talked for a long time until three hours had passed without realizing it. But what made them worried, not a single medical officer had come out of Kimberly's operating room. Did something happen to that woman in there? Marco and Arthur anxiously waited until the doctor they had been waiting for finally came out.
They both immediately got up and walked over to them. "How was the operation, doc?" Marco asked anxiously. "The good news is that Miss Kimberly's operation was successful. However, we had to remove one of her ovaries so that no cancer tissue would be left behind. Miss Kimberly had to undergo chemotherapy after this to complete the healing process. The bad news is..." The doctor was silent for a moment as if deliberately hanging his sentence.
"What's so bad, doc?" Marco looked the most curious. He was afraid that something dangerous would happen to Kimberly.
"Because Miss Kimberly's ovaries have to be removed, the fertilization process in the future is not optimal. This could cause her to have a child somewhat. But the possibility is still there, and it's just very slim."
Hearing that, Marco couldn't help but take a deep breath. It is what Kimberly has always been afraid of. The woman was afraid that she would not be able to give offspring to her future husband. This is also the reason Kimberly decided to leave Nicholas. When Marco was lost in his thoughts, a nurse was seen running from inside the room, calling for the doctor who was outside. With her breath still panting, the nurse spoke. "Doc, the patient's condition is critical."
