Me: He is. Are you at home or not?

Ira: You sending me pizza or something?

I smirk and shake my head at her message. I don’t get it. Why is she so eager for me to ‘get back out’ there?
When I got into a cab and gave the driver her house address. I was hoping to watch her surprised expression. Little did I know it was my turn to be surprised.
I know her building code, so I go ahead and enter it, instead of hitting the buzzer and waiting.
As I knock at her door and patiently wait for it to open. To my astonishment, it’s Not Ira, not her mom, nor any other family for that matter, but some big guy, in very cozy clothes, standing in front of me.

He raises his eyebrow at me and asks, “Where is my pizza, girl?”
I smirk at him. “I hope you ordered pizza for three.”
I hear the lift open behind me and we see a delivery boy enter the floor. I say, “Looks like your pizza is here. So...How long have you guys been dating?”
He looks perplexed. I am quite amused imagining Ira’s expression of me being here. Turns out she has been seeing this boy, Liam, for almost a month.
I remember her message this morning

Ira is flustered, as if I caught her in the middle of the act. I kinda did, but at least I didn’t walk upon them having sex. She sends Liam away without having the pizza.

“Please tell me you at least fucked him once today?” I ask her, smirking.
I was so flustered by her message this morning. It is nice to turn the table for once. Her cheeks redden and she mumbles, “I was about to tell you.”
“So you guys are dating, or it’s more like a benefit thing?” I ask her after a while once I have teased her enough.
“We are just fooling around right now. But It could turn into more...”
My expression turns grim at her reply. “Clarify it on time. Ok? Don’t be a fool like me.”
She looks at me warily. “I will Natalie. But you are not a fool. West is an asshole and Jake was,uk too.”
I frown. Where did Jake come from? Jake was my senior and a hockey player. I dated him before West. Jake was my first in so many things. We were wild and stupid with each other. Everybody knew. Probably my history with Jake combined, with last year’s Party-Night rumors, was the reason everyone labeled me a slut so easily.
“I never said this. But I always felt your confidence went down after Jake ghosted you. That was the reason you were so vulnerable around West and that prick used you.”
Ghosted.
Is it true? It’s the first time she has used this word. I always told her we drifted apart. But it is true once he went to college, he stopped responding. With no words, no goodbye. I never felt so strongly about Jake the way I felt with West. But his behavior did sting me a little..
Is she right? Was he the first one to put a dent in my self-worth?
My shoulder slump. “Iraaa… I am in a good mood today. I don’t need this talk, Ok?”
Her eyes widen. “OMG, I am so sorry... That was dumb of me to mention them. Let’s talk about something else. Tell me what you wanna know?”
I give her a smile and think to myself, what can make me feel better?
“Was Liam the real reason behind your tingling lady parts this morning?” I finally ask her with a smirk.
She blushes. “Ok! You got me… Can we talk about something else, please?”
Not so bold face to face, Ira!
I chuckle and tell her details about my day, minus the parts where I was visibly flushed around Jacob. She tells me her Mom is visiting some relatives and will come back the next day. We enjoy our pizza and discuss what we can do for the rest of our evening.
“Seriously, if you want… You can call Liam. I promise I will put cotton in my ears. You guys can be as loud as you want.” I tease her.
“Only if you call Jacob and fuck him in the next room.”
I roll my eyes.
“I and Jacob won’t happen, Ira. Quit that!”
“But why?? He is so hot… and single.” She says looking at photos on my phone we took today while sipping coke. “If I wasn’t into Liam, I would have totally licked his abs.”
I grimace at her choice of words.
“What?” She defends herself. “Look at his t-shirt.” She shows me the phone. “It should be a crime to be this hot and wear such fitting clothes.”
God! I already know he is hot. I don’t need her affirmative statements to encourage my nasty thoughts.
“Seriously, tell me. What’s stopping you?”
“He is a hockey player..”
She spits her drink. “WHAT?”
“and he is friends with West.”
Her mouth goes slack. “Damn!! He is… forbidden…”
“Yeah exactly.”
She thinks for a while, then gives me an evil smile. I know crap is about to fall out of her mouth.
“You could sleep with him… you know! Just to get back at West!”
I chuckle. ”Well, two things… One! This boy isn’t interested in me. So that won’t happen… and Two! If I sleep with him, it would be because I want to. Not because I want to get back at some narcissistic ass.”
“I know you have standards babe… I am sure you are some sort of hockey magnet.” She says as we lay in bed watching the ceiling. I grin at her statement.
She is probably right. I really don’t understand it. Why does my path always intertwine with hockey players?
I was in a relationship with Jake & West at different times. When I wasn’t in a relationship, so many guys from the team approached me. Some of them even spread fake rumors of our hook-up. I am not sure why, though. What do people get from lying about these things?
It probably made them look good, but shit always hit the fan for me. Too much drama and stress after each fucking rumor.
I don’t think I have any energy left for one more chaos in my life.
This is why Jacob is so damn forbidden.
