Alexander’s POV
I saw her standing on the edge of the dance floor, her fair face shown more brightly than any other I’ve ever laid eyes on, all the other women here paled in comparison to her natural beauty, her curly golden-brown hair playfully teasing her bare skin
There is nothing I want more in this world than to feel her skin on mine, I wonder if is it as smooth and soft as it looks?
“Only one way to find out” I whispered softly to myself as I walked over to her
“May I have this dance?” She looked up at me and my heart leaped, her green eyes gave me a vision of a vast forest where I want to build my home, I want to wake up to those eyes more than anything in the world, I must have her.
“I’m here with someone” I could smell him as soon as she said those words, his scent clung to her like bark on a tree making my anger flair up ‘I will kill the bastard’
“She is not marked” the voice of Virdius my wolf whispered in my head, and my eyes trailed to her marking spot and indeed there was no mark, ‘perhaps there is hope after all’.
“No matter, he can cut in at any time, I’ll be honoured to have this dance with you”
“Sure, I don’t see any reason why not” she smiled and took my hand, I held her close breathing her in, ‘man she smells good…what is that…apple?...Passionfruit?...it’s a bit of both she smells like a pink rose’ the feel of her smooth skin makes my heart skip a beat, what the hell is happening to me? I’m normally more composed than this, I don’t know what it is about her that makes me react this way
The more I spun her around in my arms the faster her heart beat, I love that I affect her in this way, I know that she is not my mate, but it makes me happy knowing that I affect her this way
“What is your name?” she breathed shivering in my arms making me want her even more, ‘the feeling is mutual I see’
“Alicia, and yours?” she whispered her name in my ear, making me get hard immediately
“Alexander”
“Nice to meet you Alexander” she smiled up at me trying to act unaffected by me
“Likewise, now tell me, what is a gorgeous woman like you doing in a place like this… unmarked” sadness flashed across her eyes arousing in me a need to protect her, whoever’s scent it is that still lingers around her, he is the one, ‘don’t worry my flower I will never let him touch you again’
“You look so scrumptious I might just claim you for myself” she is like a delicate flower in my arms, yet I sense a powerful aura within her, she doesn’t know about this power yet, but I will be the one to awaken it, the scent clinging to her is weak, it is clear to me that he will never be able to help her unleash her true power
“I need some air” she slipped out of my arms, her absence brought a pain to my heart, ‘I must feel her in my arms again, mate or not she completes me’
“We are ready when you are Sir”
“What?”
“The car is ready, we can leave whenever you’re ready Sir” Titus has always been a stickler for the rules, and in all the years I’ve known him, he has never let me down, I trust him with my life
“She’ll be joining us as well”
“Who, Sir?”
I looked around and she was nowhere to be found. “where is the rest of the security detail?”
“In that room Sir” he pointed at a room across the room “they’ve been surveilling the party, Sir” he said in a hesitant tone, answering my unasked question, I walked over and opened the door
“Where is she?” judging by the looks on their faces my tone was more aggressive than I intended, but I need to find her no matter what, I can’t let her slip through my fingers.
“The lady his highness was dancing with just now” Titus answered the question written on all their faces “we need to find her immediately” he barked at them, and they nodded and quickly got to their feet following close behind me
“She can’t have gone far, you…go, find her immediately” I growled pointing randomly at one of them
“I want you to check all the rooms”
“You go ask the security downstairs if they’ve seen her…” I need all hands-on deck; I will search the whole world if I have to
“Your highness is that her?” I followed his finger and my heart danced at the site of my beautiful princess
“Yes, that’s most definitely her” I must be going mad, this is absolute madness, why am I so drawn to her?
“There you are, I’ve been looking everywhere for you” to be honest I was going crazy at the thought of never seeing her again
“I’m sorry, I didn’t know, please forgive me your highness” my heart broke hearing the fear in her voice, I don’t want her to fear me but strangely I like the way her body gives in to me, I want her to give herself to me willingly, but then again this could make for an interestingly fun game
“So, this is the one you’ve chosen”
“Yes father, she is magnificent isn’t she?” she is my dew kissed flower, she belongs to me and me alone
“Indeed” he approved
“If you’re ready we can leave” I said looking at her, I can’t wait any longer I want her all to myself,
“Well, are you?” dad growled at her, I hated him for scaring her like that, I want to take her away from the wolf whose scent she wears, I want to take her away from my father, I want to shelter her in my arms while we build a life together
“Leave and go where?” she was shaking now, and my heart sank
“Isn’t it obvious, I’m taking you as my bride” her breathing stopped and her heart rate slowed, I know it’s a lot for her right now, but once she sees the life I have planned for her she won’t want to go anywhere or be with anyone else
“Shall we?” I offered her my arm, and she shook her head not saying a word
“You dare refuse the prince of the wolves?” dad boomed making my anger flair up, it took everything I had to stop myself from punching him in the face
“No, your highness…I uh…I uh…” he is the king and as much as I would love to strangle him right now, I can’t disrespect him in such a manner in front of all these wolves, it is his law that makes it possible for me to take her right now, I just have to stay calm and let him release his dominance as king, the sooner this whole thing is over, the sooner I can have her all to myself and the sooner she’ll be in my arms
“If I may your highness” my hands balled into fists as I realised that his scent matched the one that clung to her
“Yes, what is it?”
“It’s just that…” he hesitated ‘how weak, how can such a weakling be mated to such a powerful goddess?’
“Spit it out” dad growled, patience was never his strong suit, I’ve always hated that fact about him, but somehow this was the perfect time for it
“She is my employee your highness…I brought her here and I’m afraid I can’t leave without her…sir” his words made me laugh
Employee, is that all she is to him, a mere employee? If that’s all she is to him he has no right to protest my claim
“I guess she won’t be coming in tomorrow” I chuckled “well it’s time to go” I growled grabbing her hand and pulling her to me, her small frame fit so perfectly in my arms, right where she belongs
“Kein” her voice was a pleading whisper, how can she still want him after he called her just his employee, how can she not see that I’m the one she should be with?
“She is my mate! Your highness” the weakling managed to say, I looked at him and he looked so pathetic, just looking at him disgusts me, he will never be worthy of her, not in a million lifetimes, I’m undoubtedly the better mate for her
“Your mate hu, is that so?” I mocked, “then why have you not claimed her?” I know you haven’t claim her because you are weak
“Let go of her!” he growled pathetically trying to assert his dominance, he makes me sick
“You dare command me” I growled crouching, prepared to end this once and for all, one strike in the right place and it’s over ‘come on, come at me, I dare you!’
“Wait son, let's hear him out” dad said through clenched teeth, I could tell he was as angry as I was, one thing he hates more than being questioned is open defiance. “well…why is she still unmarked, why haven’t you claimed her yet?”
“I haven’t fully claimed her yet because I’m still tied to another, but the situation will soon be resolved”
What a scoundrel, how much more proof does she need, can’t she see that he doesn’t deserve her?
“Enough of this, you know the rules” I barked
“Rules…what rules?” she whispered, I looked at her and my heart melted ‘oh my pink flower, it’s almost over, I’ll take you away from here soon’
“That any she wolf who comes before the king unmarked consents to being claimed by the king or any member of the royal family”
“Alpha Sobong, welcome” dad looked pleased to see him, he has always been loyal, and dad loved that trait in his subordinates
“She didn’t know, she only came here as my guest” his whimpering makes me sick
“Ignorance of the law is no excuse” Alpha Sobong continued “please go ahead your highness, I will deal with this”
‘Finally,’ I pulled her to me, but she started pulling her hand away, I know that she is scared, and I know that she only feels this way because she has no say in the matter and has to come with me against her will, I know that she feels abducted and maybe a little bit violated but man it makes me mad every time she chooses him over me, if we were not surrounded by this crowd I would easily show her that fact.
“You will come with me now” I whispered in her ear, trying to be as gentle as possible, doing my best to subdue my anger
“No, please…please…please” she pleaded flaring my anger up even more making me release my Alpha prince power making her body obey ‘your mind is against it, but your body knows the truth’
“Ali come to me!” the bastard used the mating call; how dare he defy me.
‘Let me kill him, I want to kill him’ my wolf growled, I was about to pounce when Alpha Sobong shouted
“How dare you!” he hit him across the face, clearly protecting him from my wrath.
“Bring me his head” dad roared, I watched with a smile on my face knowing that she will finally be free from him
“No, please don’t, I’ll go with you…I’ll go with you…I will go, I will go, I will go” her arms wrapped around him as she wept, ‘him?...how dare she choose him over me!’
