Chapter 3
He walked in and I swallowed
“Ping”
the elevator chimed, and the doors closed, of course they closed faster now that he is in here suffocating me with his scent, I squeezed myself into the back corner of the elevator, he looked at me intently smiling softly to himself, his eyes dark and menacing, his words echoed in my head “I’ll be there soon…love you too” I took a deep breath releasing myself from his spell
“Are you going to press the button?” I scoffed at him, he chuckled and inched closer to me and my body radiated with heat
“No, stop” I said pressing myself hard against the corner, a glimpse of hurt flashed across his eyes, and I pointed at the security camera, his face softened as he realised that I wasn’t rejecting him,
‘I am rejecting you’ I thought to myself, I’m not a home wrecker
“It depend on who you ask” my wolf growled angry at me for rejecting our mate
He turned and pressed the button and the elevator started to move, he walked backwards slowly and stood nonchalantly next to me slowly caressing the back of my hand with his sending spikes all over my body making my heart skip a beat
“Stop it” I said but still not moving my hand away
“I’m sorry” he said looking down at his feet
“For what?” I asked trying to seem unaffected, but the truth is that I was hurt, I felt more than rejected I felt thrown away.
“That call earlier…it..”
“Oh no, I’m not upset about that” I said waving my hands franticly in the air, he turned folded his arms, and give me that gorgeous smile making my heart melt
“So, what are you upset about?” he leaned in his nose touching mine gently
“that we didn’t get to finish?” he whispered in my ear, making the hairs on the back of my neck shoot up,
I jumped and moved to the front of elevator
“why is this thing taking so long, I mean it’s only fifty floors, it really shouldn’t take this long” I said turning my back on him he put his hands on my shoulders lightly caressing them and my body froze, I wanted to turn around and take him in my arms,
‘stop it Alicia, he is married, married hear that’
“Come on babe, don’t be like that, it’s a complicated situation and I promise that I’ll try to…” I turned around and looked into his hazel eyes, he gently stroked my cheek
“I said stop!” my words were louder than I intended, and to my relief they made him jump back, I took my chance and summoned all the strength I could master
“look President Keng” I said drawing the line, keeping things strictly professional between us
“my wolf has been asleep for five, or six years now and I know that it won’t be easy to tame her and get her to sleep again, but I think that we can both agree that it’s for the best”
“What are you saying, do you want to forget about me?” I nodded
“I’m saying…it would be nice if you'd let me try” I turned around hiding the tears that were now streaming down my face
“I can’t do that”
“Ping”
the elevator chimed, leaving his words hanging in the air,
“Oh, this is your stop, I forgot to press the button" I chuckled awkwardly,
"please go-ahead President Keng, I will need to go back up to the ground floor” I said smiling politely at him offering him a bow, I looked up and his eyes were filled with rage, he grabbed my arm and dragged me out of the elevator
“President Keng, what are you doing, where are you taking me?”
“Don’t call me that!” he barked
“What?” I said taking big steps trying to keep up with him as he pulled me furiously across the parking lot
“Kein, you know my name is Kein, I don’t ever want to hear you talk to me like I’m just your boss” his wolf growled the possessiveness sending a tingle down my spine, I shook it off
‘snap out of it, no matter how sexy he is, he is still married, mate or not’ I tried to tug my hand away from him, but it didn’t budge no matter how hard I pulled, he opened the car door, scooped me up in his arms and put me in the seat, he angrily put the seat belt over me and banged the door, he walked to the other side got in and started driving. The car raced and the wheels screeched as he rocketed past traffic
“Slow down!” I screamed grabbing the dashboard as he raced through the streets zig zagging in between cars
“Please stop President Keng!”
“What the fuck did I tell you?!” he growled slamming his foot on the accelerator driving even faster, heading straight for a red light
“Kein, Kein, KEIN!” I screamed closing my eyes bracing myself for impact and he slammed on the brakes hard, and my body shot forward the seatbelt doing its job catching me in mid-air. My body slammed back on the seat, and I breathed in deeply trying to calm my nerves
“See, now was that so hard?” he chuckled, and I glared at him
“What the fuck was that, are you trying to kill me or something?!” I yelled at him, and he pinched my nose
“Cute”
“What?” I barked, slapping his hand away,
“My mate is too cute” he smiled back at me
“Is this funny to you? You do realise that you almost killed your mate, and that's funny to you? What the hell... that’s not how you’re supposed to treat me
“Oh really, how should I treat you then?” his face looked serious
“You’re supposed to be good to me, every day without me should be torture and keeping me safe should be your number one priority, you don’t do this, you don’t gamble with my life like this!” I barked slamming my hand on the dashboard breathing heavily. I sat back on the chair folding my arms in protest, he smiled back at me taking my hand in his making my heart dance
“From now on, I will do all of those things” he said kissing the back of my hand sending a tingle down my spine, I yanked my hand away and looked straight ahead, he chuckled and drove when the light turned green.
“I didn’t give up on us” he said looking straight ahead
“What are you talking about?”
“You asked me why I gave up on us… I didn’t, I never gave up”
“That ring on your finger says otherwise” he groaned
“It’s not a love marriage, we have been friends since we were kids and when we turned twenty-five our families decided that we should get married, you were nowhere to be found so I agreed”
“So, what? Is that supposed to make me feel better?” I scoffed at him
He took a deep breath
“She doesn’t even know”
“Know what?”
“That I’m a wolf”
“Are you fucking kidding me… so let me get this straight…you’re telling me that you gave me up for a human?” A wave of rage consumed me
“That’s it, stop the car”
“What?” he looked shocked
“I said stop the fucking car!” I fought with the seatbelt as the car came to a screeching halt, pulling, and tucking uncontrollably
“Babe, please you don’t even know your way around” I glared at him and finally the belt unclicked
“Don’t worry babe, I’ll ask a human” I sneered slamming the door hard
“Damn him, damn him to hell!” I screamed in the street, two guys opened a door to my right and came stumbling out
“this must be a bar” I went in and sat in an empty spot and ordered the strongest alcohol they had
“ugh” I groaned as the liquor burned a whole in my throat, I ordered another, and another and another
“the nerve of him, replacing me with a mere human, I mean at least upgrade to like a bear or a dragon” I laughed slamming the shot glass on the table
“a dragon, hahaha as if he could get a dragon”
“Have you seen our mate, he is hot as hell, he could get a dragon if he wanted to” my wolf smirked at me clearly as drunk as I was, I took a deep breath,
“Yeah he is, but he is not mine, he belongs to someone else, not just anyone…a fucking human” I started crying, and when I say crying I mean wailing uncontrollably
“Miss, we close now, you leave now”
“Oh yes, sorry let me pay”
“Bill paid, full price”
“What, by who?”
“Not know name, he tall” she raised her hand over her head
“you not see him? She squeaked I shook my head
“He sitting there” she pointed to the chair behind me
“He watching you all night” she smiled at me, her face saying she is routing for me I smiled back with a look of confusion on my face, I stumbled outside and missed a step and I started falling forward
“Aaaahh!” I screamed falling in slow motion trying to grab something, anything to balance with but there was nothing there, I closed my eyes ready for my face to hit the pavement, and suddenly a hand pulled me up catching me just in time spinning me and cradling me tightly sending sparks radiating through my body
“Are you alright my love?”
