Expensive
Celiza!”
“Bea?” I approached him with a frown. It stands in front of the coffee shop. It looks like Ann and Halle just got out of the cars parked in front of them.
My forehead creased. What are they doing here? I scanned them both, nothing has changed, they still look the same but richer this time. I can tell by their branded clothes and bags they’re showing off to each other.
“Hello Celiza! We’re right in time!”
“Halle? Ann? What are you doing here? How do you know where I work?”
It is impossible for them to come here for no reason because then they have already done so. But they never did and I’m not expecting them to do so, after all we’ve been through.
She smiled.
“Well we heard you’re getting married to Magnus freaking Morrison!”
Oh …
How did they know Magnus and I are getting married? We didn’t tell anyone outside the family.
I still haven’t changed my status on facebook so how?
“How did you find out?”
He’s Magnus Morrison, Celiza. Not the nerd he used to be so everyone does care about his life now! Paparazzi are everywhere! “
“Is that all you came here for?” My brows furrowed.
I’ll give them the benefit of doubt. Maybe they’re just using it as an excuse to ask how I am. Maybe they’re just embarrassed because of what happened before.
Probably… Maybe so.
“Well we came to get our invitation!” My eyes remained on her. I blinked multiple times. Did I hear her right? They’re here for the invitation?
The wedding invitation?
I thought they came here to visit and check on me.
Oh how wrong I was!
“Hey what’s up Ann! Let’s talk about that later! It’s so hot here outside, let’s go in first.”
“Come here Celiza!”
Miranda’s forehead furrowed as our eyes met. I gave him an “I don’t know what is happening” look.
“Celiza, come here!”
“I can’t. I still have a job—”
“Oh come on celiza! You’re getting married to the wealthiest man in the country! You don’t need to work anymore!” she laughed.
My forehead furrowed even more at what Halle said. “All your hardwork has paid off!”
“What do you mean Halle?”
“That’s not what I meant Celiza, just slip out of my mouth!” she smirked.
I took a deep breath.
“I didn’t marry him because of that.”
“Oh sure sure.” She smirked.
My lips twitched.
“Look at this jewelry I bought Celiza! You used to have one of these before, right? Don’t worry for sure Magnus will buy you!”
“I’m not into shiny things anymore. Another thing is that Magnus is not an ATM machine like you do with your parents until now. I have my own money for my work, he is like that and whatever he does, I’m out. Because he made it hard. “
“Oh come on Celiza! Don’t be like that! It’s true what Halle said! Maybe you foresee what’s going to happen, that’s why you chase Magnus? I mean if I was in your position I would definitely do it!”
“I would still marry him even if he’s still that nerd, without his wealth.”
“Really? I don’t think so Celiza. You’re not like that.”
“People change, Halle. You’re the only one who doesn’t. Unless you’re not human. If so, what are you?” My eyes narrowed at her.
“I’m a goddess.”
I scoffed. “No, you can’t be Because you’re heartless, remember?”
“You!”
“If you’re just here to make yourself feel better and high by putting me down, using my mistakes, then do so, suit yourself Halle. After all that’s the only thing that brings you happiness. ‘Cause none of this jewelry can deny the fact that you’re alone and content in life. “
Her face reddened in anger but she still managed to force a smirk on her face. “We’re just reminiscing about Celiza, why are you like that? We’re the ones who are kind.”
“Don’t worry we won’t talk about your sex tapes—ops!”
I took a deep breath.
“Oh dada dada. Why don’t you order first before you talk nonsense!” said Miranda. I didn’t notice it coming to our table.
“You’re still on the sex tape, I’ll tape your mouth!” she murmured.
“What?”
“I said what’s your order, is that diamond deafening to your ear?” she muttered the last sentence.
“One Americano.”
“Okay, one americano with packing tape.”
Halle’s forehead furrowed. “What? Is that on the menu? Why is there a tape?”
“I thought Ma’am you wanted a tape, you said earlier tape.”
“What? I said sex tape!” Her voice raised.
“Oh Ma’am! You’re vulgar! Don’t be a scandalous woman! We didn’t offer that here! Shame on you, you still look decent!” Miranda’s shout caused her to get the attention of the people at our table.
“What no !? I said its sex tape of Cel—”
Miranda slammed the menu on the table.
“Maam, what is it that there are young people here, respect! They just want to have coffee quietly!”
I looked at the table of teenagers looking in our direction.
“What ?!” she screamed and stood up in confusion.
“Let’s go Halle—” Bea said. He turned to me. “I’m really sorry Celiza.”
“What about the invitation?” Halle.
“You’re not invited.”
“What why ?!” Why even ask!
I shrugged. “I don’t know, just slip my mouth. But yeah, you’re not invited.”
Her fist balled. My head tilted waiting for her next act but Bea pulled her away.
“That’s right Halle. Come on!”
Bea apologetically smiled at me before dragging Halle on the way out.
“Damn them! Who are those people?”
“Highschool friends.” I said.
“Is he called a friend don? I didn’t even see him visit you during a very difficult time! Tell you friends again because you will marry don to pogi!”
“Friend!” Ismid nito.
“Don’t worry Mirs! You’re my only friend! Yiee! There you go!” I giggled.
“Stop that! I’m not Magnus for you to burn!” she laughed.
“It’s better, Celz!”
“Don’t listen to that, it’s better!”
“Ate Celz listen to me, I’ve already attended the wedding. I know it’s good not to.”
“Celiza, I’m married, I know what’s good is not. Don’t believe this boy!”
I looked back and forth between the two of them. It was the same holding a wedding gown in front of me. When we arrived here at the boutique they were the first to find a wedding gown for me.
“In your dreams I ate Mirz, you don’t have a boyfriend. So how can you get married?”
“Wow! The unseen spoke of his crush!”
Freeda’s lips protruded. “He’s busy with business so he doesn’t notice!”
“He doesn’t notice until you just message him! Remember you’re not friends on fb, he also doesn’t finafollow you on insta and twitter!”
“Ate Celz!”
“You’re already and adult and your still acting like a baby –“
“The trouble of those two.” I laughed at the promise.
I stared at the phone. Magnus texted a ten heart and kissing emoji. Alternate yet!
“I’ll look to the other side first so I can see something. There you go.”
“Wait, maybe Tita will come!”
“I know, so I have to choose.” Because I’m sure the most expensive wedding gown Mom will pick.
