Inlaws

Amanda was not looking at anyone, she had her eyes, fixated on the doctor, that just came out, she could feel their eyes on her, they were probably wondering if she was okay, for someone, whose secret have been exposed, to still have the guts to ask questions.

Nobody believed she could be bold to even utter such word, how could she call him her husband, when she was carrying another man's child.

She could read their minds, but she didn't care. She asked the doctor again.

"How is my husband?

"This girl, sure have some guts Mrs Brown thought, as she turned to look at her,  even Josh turned as though he was about to pounce on her, when MR Jones Brown asked the doctor the same question differently.

"Doctor, how is my son?

Once again everyone faced the doctor and was expectant. Since he seemed to be more interested in adjusting himself, and trying to get some air, with his mouth. He also se like he wants to get out of what he was wearing, one could only imagine, what he had to do, in the theatre, but he doesn't look like he was going to tell them anything, until he was ready.

"He is fine, he is out of Danger and is resting now in an hour or so you should be able to see him, but it's one person at a time and only one person would be allowed to stay the night with him". The doctor finally spoke up, and they all.looked disappointed, to think that it took the doctor, that long, to finally speak up, and yet, none of them, was going to go in immediately.

The doctor was quick and devoid of any emotions but one could sense he was aware of the family drama, and was trying hard not to loose it in front of everyone.

They were relieved once again at least he was not going to die, he would live and see the end of this mystery, wether he wanted it or not.

No one wanted to suffer this way, no one wished for this to happen but it has happened and they just needed to face it.

Mrs Brown was still thinking of what she said when the doctor came out and couldn't help but feel irritated at how shameless she was to even call her son her husband.

She couldn't let it go, she had to taunt her especially now she was with her brother and a friend, maybe they didn't know she had been engaged in adultry, she needed to bring their notice to it.

Maxwell was already aware, as Dave himself had told him what was going on in his home and how devastated he was, he was also aware that Amanda had met with his ex bestfriends Goodluck but he doesn't want to hold any grudge against Goodluck anymore, he was sure he felt something strong for his sister, and regretted almost killing him.

He knew if Goodluck had fought back that day, he would be dead already,  Goodluck was a guy that was good at almost everything, but he hadn't even tried to defend himself, he only apologized even as he was been  beaten. He decided to help his sister find happiness and to get the truth out of her, but in a cool manner.

"How are you doing Amy?

She wasn't expecting such a question from her brother, why was he been too sweet as though he wasn't aware she was carrying a baby whose father was unknown.

Was that not why he had been calling her?

Her brother had never been a sweet older brother, and never spoke sweetly to her, so what changed? She looked up at him and saw how sincere he was, she was almost shocked.

Maturity, has really set in, if her brother could be this calm and calculated in a situation like this, then truely change was the only constant thing.

"I am trying to hold up well"  she said, not wanting to meet his eye for fear he might change to the strict older brother she was used to.

"Do you want to grab something to eat before he wakes up, I can already hear your Tommy calling out for food". He said, with a grin, she met his eyes, but looked away almost immediately.

Now this was too much for her to handle, what has happened to her brother, did he hit his head somewhere or something, was he ok or was he trying to get them out of everybody's view so that he could scream at her, and tell her how disappointed he was in her? She was thinking about it all, when she saw him stretch his hands towards her.

She didn't really care anymore, it wouldn't be the first time he embarrassed her anyway, so she really didn't care, she was sure about one thing, she was hungry and she needed food.

Joy hadn't said anything since she came in, she had only been busy tapping her back like a baby trying to calm her down, which was actually working, because the more she felt her hands behind her, the calmer she becomes.

She nodded to her brother and took his hands.

"You will be fine okay? He encouraged, and for that one time, she pinched hersf, to be sure, she was not dreaming. She really doesn't want it to be a dream, but if the other situation around it were to be a dream, then she wouldn't mind.

"I am not sure things will ever be okay". She told him, but she could only feel Joy's hold on her firmer, as if she was telling her, not to say a thing like that.

"Don't say that, I am here, and together, we will make it okay". Her brother encouraged her further. She smiled at him, feeling blessed to have someone with her, and she really doesn't mind, even if his attitude will only be for a while, she doesn't really care, for that moment, she was going to enjoy every bit of it.

She took his hand, and they both stood up the same time, before they notice Mrs Brown walking towards them.

With a mischievous smile.
