It was the morning of August 3rd when Juana got the call. The first calamity had struck.
"How did it happen?" She cried
"Everyone was out. We met him hanging on the ceiling fan. It was too late to save him"
It was like a nightmare. Dr Paul was dead.
"Apparently he committed suicide"
"No I don't believe that!!! Jason killed him! He did it!" She yelled.
Ivy came near her as she slammed the phone on the hard tiles.
"What happened?" She asked. She was dressed in a short gown which was rather too small because she had almost doubled her size.
"Someone died"
"Who?"
"You don't know him. Don't worry about it okay?"
"What are you going to do now? I hate to see like this?"
"I'm going home tomorrow, so I'll attend his funeral" she said and slung her head over the couch.
"Take heart darling" Ivy said.
"It's okay. I tried my best to save him" she said biting her lips. She was sad and angry
"How's the baby?" She asked her
"I don't want to talk about the baby. I hate to know I'm carrying a baby"
"Ivy, don't do anything silly to yourself, okay? You can start your life all over again" she said rubbing her shoulders. "I'm here for you"
"You live far away"
"Alicia is here. God's right here. Please believe it. You can pull through this. I don't want to lose you" she said and Ivy broke into tears.
"My aunt makes life hard for me. I don't have my mother to confide in. Sometimes I feel like ending my life"
Juana hugged her and they cried on each other's shoulders until they got exhausted.

The journey home was silent. Juana didn't talk to her father throughout. She only nodded or looked out the window whenever he spoke. Only thing on her mind was talking to God. It's been a while she specially prayed. Maybe that was why some things happened. As soon as she got home, she was going to pray.
When Juana saw Dr Paul's body, she didn't cry or scream. She just looked. Colin's eyes were teary but Juana didn't cry. The next day he was buried. Juana, her granny, Colin, her dad, and the family he lived with, before his demise were present at the funeral. The couple shed tears and everyone else, but she didn't. She couldn't actually. She was numb
After his funeral, everyone kept close watch to her movements. They didn't want her going near Jason's house because she was crazy enough to go there and accuse him. But she wasn't planning to. Only thing she said was,
"We should do an autopsy"
Juana prayed that night. She prayed for hours and prayed with Colin on phone. She asked God to forgive her sins and stop every evil. She asked God to restore her father back to his senses, asked God to heal her mom and make they happy again, asked God to make her birthday beautiful.
After praying, a great relief filled her body and heart and she praised God. She also prayed for her granny. She prayed for Colin, for Jason and Selena, Ivy,Alicia , Ella and herself.
The next night, she heard her dad crying in his bedroom. He was obviously crying to God. Juana knew that her prayer was working. He was repentant for his sins.
