Meet Cindy
CHAPTER TWENTY
MEET CINDY
"I am so glad to stand here and thank everyone who joined my party. I am so blessed. Thank you. And, of course, before ending this speech, I would like to give a gratitude to this woman who didn't forget me and still remember me. Let me introduce to all of you my special guest, Cindy Miranda."
The guests greeted Cindy as she came to the front and smiled at them until her gaze settled on where Anton and Ariella were. She also smiled at them but Anton did not reciprocate, but Ariella smiled back.
Anton's feelings suddenly changed when he saw her. He couldn't take his eyes off her until the memory slowly returned to his mind. It seemed like the wind blew his mind towards their past.
While Anton was in that state, Ariella was staring at him. Shee noticed Anton's reaction when he saw Cindy. Her chest suddenly ached for reasons she didn't know.
Maybe she already loves Anton, something she doesn't want to admit to herself.
She also looked at Cindy. She was literally beautiful especially when she smiled while speaking on stage.
She looked back at Anton. Anton still couldn't take his eyes off Cindy. Suddenly, she felt something strange about Anton.
The feeling she felt in her chest got heavier and heavier as she watched him in that state. She could feel, she feels that Anton still has some love left for Cindy. She feels and sees in Anton's eyes his longing.
She couldn't wait any longer for her tears to fall. She don't want that to happen, so she left and went out for a while.
She placed her hand over her chest. She felt the pain in her chest, something she didn't want to feel.
"He still loves her, doesn't he?" she asked herself. How Anton looked at Cindy kept coming back to her mind.
She could really feel it.
She took a deep breath while closing her eyes tightly.
Inhale.
Exhale.
She just looked up at the sky. She could not see a single star. The half moon is covered with clouds.
"Is it going to rain?" she asked herself while staring at the sky until her first meeting with Anton came back to her mind.
It was also raining when they first met.
Somehow, her lips smiled spontaneously even though at the same time there was a pain in her chest that she couldn't explain.
She walked for a while to entertain herself, trying not to think about it.
Walking, "Why would I be hurt if I don't love him?" she asked herself. She stopped, says, "or..." thinking, "I'm in love with him? Am I not?
She repeatedly questions herself if she loves Anton but she also repeatedly denies it. It's like she's losing her mind with what she's doing. If anyone noticed her, they would think she was crazy.
She was still walking restlessly until Anton noticed her.
"Honey?" he calls.
She stopped and faced him.
"Why are you here?" they both asked, and both laughed.
"I've been looking for you for a while. You suddenly disappeared from my side," he said.
"It took you half an hour before you found me," she answered weakly.
Anton got confused at what she said. "What are you saying? I thought you just went somewhere and would be back soon, so I didn't follow you when you left."
"You saw me leaving but you didn't even ask me or follow me?"
He thought for a moment before answering. "I just thought you were going somewhere. I didn't know."
"Because you didn't ask," she insisted and then took a deep breath.
"What's the matter, my wife? Are you mad at me?"
She didn't answer immediately when she noticed herself.
She didn't know how to explain so instead of speaking, she just turned her back.
She took a deep breath to calm herself.
She didn't notice that Anton approached as she had her back turned.
She suddenly felt Anton's hands hugging her. His head was also leaning on her shoulder.
Sh suddenly wondered what his actions meant. She often asks if Anton really loves her.
She couldn't help it. She suddenly felt better when Anton hugged her.
It's not new to her, but she's not used to feeling that weird in her chest.
Admit it or not, she loves him.
"If you are not comfortable here, we can go home now," he whispered, still wrapping his arm around her waist.
"No. Your grandmother will look for you," she answered.
"Don't mind her. All I want is you, to make you happy and comfortable, so if you are not comfortable here, we can go home now."
She removed Anton's hands and faced him.
She looked at Anton's face before she spoke. "You know?"
"What?"
She continued, "I really..." she paused for a while but did not take her eyes off him. It's as if she's reading his mind.
Anton has an idea for what she would say next, and he is sure of it, so he smiled. "I know, honey."
She frowned suddenly. "You know?" she asked.
He nodded and said, "Of course."
"You know that I really want to sleep now?"
Anton couldn't speak. He was wrong. He thought earlier that she wanted to say 'I really love you' to him, but he was wrong by thinking of it.
He just laughed. "We better go, so my pretty wife can sleep now."
She just laughed at what he said. At least Anton got rid of the sadness she was feeling.
When they are about to leave, it suddenly rains heavily.
"It's obvious it's going to rain because there are no stars in the sky," she said.
A cold wind blew. She hugged herself, rubbing her arms and shoulders.
Anton noticed it so he put his clothes on Ariella to relieve the cold.
Soon they noticed a woman at the gate. She was soaked with rain. Even if she ran, it was as if she was bathed in the rain before she could take shelter. The gate is a bit far.
"She needs help," Anton said and looked for an umbrella. He took the umbrella from the side.
"What will you do?" she asked.
"Just stay here, okay? I will help her."
She couldn't stop Anton anymore when he suddenly left. Even if he had an umbrella with him, he still got wet from the heavy rain.
He was close to where the woman was until they both met.
Only now did he notice that it was Cindy.
They took shelter under the same umbrella but half of his body was soaked by the rain.
"Cindy?"
"Anton? what are you doing?" she asked.
"Do you want to get sick?" he asked.
"N-no. I didn't know it would rain. I just came here to answer my phone."
"Let's go inside. You have to change."
While they were talking, Ariella was watching them, unaware of what they were talking about. Then suddenly, she frowned when Anton held the woman's hand.
She didn't know who the woman was because it was dark and raining until they started walking. Closer and closer.
Again, in an unexpected event, for unknown reasons, there was a pain in her chest again, especially when she saw that Anton was holding her hand.
She took a deep breath and looked away from them.
"Thanks for your help."
"You have to change. Just ask the maids to assist you."
She left but Anton's gaze followed hed until she entered the room. Ariella noticed it. The questions that only Anton can answer will not escape her mind.
"Want to follow her?" she asked that shocked him.
He did not recognize Ariella. He also did not understand her question. "What?"
"I mean...you also have to change."
His body shivered suddenly because of the cold. "It's cold." he said with a trembling voice.
