Anton
CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE
ANTON
When Ariella opened her eyes, she first looked for Anton but he was not by her side, so she immediately got up and fixed herself before leaving the room.
From where she was standing, she smelled something, so she went to the kitchen. There she saw Anton busy cooking.
He stopped for a moment to kiss Ariella, then greeted her.
Ariella was speechless, slightly fascinated by him.
"Are you hungry?" he asked, busy cooking. "Take a seat, my wife. It won't take too long," he added.
Ariella frowned and confused to him, but she remained silent and waited until he finished cooking.
He even served Ariella something to eat.
"Let's eat?" he offered.
She just nodded in response. She was quiet for those moments because many things were bothering her until she remembered something that stuck in her mind.
"May I ask?"
"Go on," he said.
"Who is Cindy?"
Finally! She was able to ask him about that. She wanted to ask him that question for a long time. She just wanted to know if Anton would tell the truth or not.
Anton stopped eating and turned his gaze to her.
It took a few seconds before he took his eyes off her.
He says, "Cindy? Who's Cindy?"
She knew who Cindy was but she still wanted to ask Anton about that matter. It is half percent of a hundred that she expects him to lie.
"The girl last night, remember?"
Anton thought for a moment to clear that memory from his mind.
"Ahh. She's nothing. Don't mind her," he said and continued eating.
She didn't say a word but just watched him. There were more things in her mind.
He can directly say that Cindy was his ex girlfriend. Why does he have to say that she's nothing and don't mind her?
It took a minute before Anton noticed that Ariella stopped eating.
She was still staring at him as if she was deep in thought.
He sighed.
"Cindy is my ex-girlfriend. Ex means past, means done. You don't have to worry or overthink. I'm done loving her because I love you."
She just smiled but didn't say a word, then she continued eating.
Their quiet conversation at the dinner table was interrupted for a moment when the phone rang. Anton immediately answered it.
"Oh, I'm sorry, my wife. I have to go. Our client is waiting for me," he said in a hurry.
"It's okay. I know how important it is, so you better go now. I'm gonna be okay here."
Before he left, he kissed her on the lips.
He went straight to his office and saw his client's waiting for him.
"I'm sorry if you wait," he apologized.
The woman turned and faced him. He was slightly shocked when he saw her.
Why is she here?
"What are you doing here? I didn't expect you to come here. Do you need anything else?"
"Excuse me? Are you talking to me?" she asked confusedly.
Anton was embarrassed. He just rolled his eyes. It wasn't Cindy.
He opened -and -closed his eyes to see clearly the woman in front of him.
It was just an illusion, but why?
"Oh, I'm sorry. Don't mind it."
The woman just laughed a little.
"I just came here to personally give some feedback about your products, so you can improve it better."
Anton listened to her and just agreed to what she said.
"I better go. Thanks for the time."
When she left, he relaxed himself. He tried to clean his mind and remove such things. It really confused him. Is he thinking about her?
He remembered what happened last night until he was stunned by those memories that seemed fresh in his mind, so he didn't realize Ariella's text messages to him.
It took minutes before he realized it.
He read the message Ariella sent. Attached to it is that she can't come to his office today because she is still attending to something.
He replied, "It's okay, my wife. Take your time." Until his stomach suddenly growled. He thought of having lunch at a private restaurant.
He immediately drove to Zy restaurant which is only 15 minutes away. Because his stomach was already boiling, he immediately ordered something to eat.
He checked his phone's messages while waiting for his order to be cooked.
"Cappuccino for Cindy," said the waitress who caught her attention.
He turned to see who the Cindy she was referring to was until he remembered that Cindy loved cappuccino.
"Thanks a lot," she said.
He was almost stunned while looking at Cindy. It never occurred to him that they would meet again.
He didn't notice that his order was already on his table.
If Cindy hasn't looked at where he is, he will not take his eyes off of her. A few moments later, he glanced again at Cindy who was busy on her phone.
He couldn't even take a bite of his food because his gaze was fixed on her. Besides that, he had a strange feeling at that moment.
He pretended to cover his face with his hand so that Cindy wouldn't notice him. In fact, there is nothing wrong if Cindy sees him because he is not doing anything wrong. Maybe he is just shy or maybe there is another reason.
He didn't notice that Cindy had left. He looked around but couldn't see her so he immediately got up and went out. He didn't feel hungry anymore since he saw Cindy.
He continued walking until his feet took him to the parking lot not far from the restaurant.
He heard a woman's voice screaming so he immediately looked for where it was coming from.
A man tries to take a woman's cellphone. The woman did not want to give the cellphone.
"Help! Help me!" she shouted while trying to tighten her grip on the cellphone that the man was trying to grab.
He finally found where the noise was coming from. He didn't hesitate to help her.
Faster than a horse when he ran. He pushed the man away causing him to fall. When Anton tried to approach him to hit him, the man immediately ran away.
He grinned as he rubbed his hands. "A coward," he said.
"Thank you so much for helping me," said the girl.
"Be careful next time," he replied without looking at her.
"If you didn't come, that freak thief might hurt me. I owe you my life."
He just smiled and walked away. There was surprise in the woman's mind when Anton left without even facing her.
He got into the car but he wasn't driving yet. His eyes are focused on the front as if he is waiting for someone or looking for something.
Soon he drove off. There was a car in front of him that he was following. That was the car of the woman he helped earlier.
