Caring
CHAPTER 40
Ariella just watched her while thinking of something.
She could see that pitiful face of her husband that makes her soft. In addition, he is sick, so how could she leave him in his condition?
He held her hand, saying, "I am really s-sorry."
Ariella turned her gaze into something else. She could feel the irritation, the anger, the pain in her heart. How could she forgive him that so easily?
"You stink, you smell like alcohol. Take a bath to get rid of your fever," that's all she said instead of responding to what Anton said earlier.
"I don't want," he replied and pouted his lips.
"Okay," her quick response and was about to leave, going upstairs.
"I'll do it, I'll do it. Just stay."
She stopped but remained in her position. She just turned around while waiting for Anton to speak again if ever there is something he wants to say.
"Even if it is really cold, I will do it. Just help me," he added.
"Help you in what?" she asked.
"Help me take a bath."
"You're not a kid anymore."
"Please. I can't do it alone for now. I'm really not feeling well right now. It's so cold."
She just took a deep sigh and understood him.
"Okay."
Anton immediately stood up and went upstairs to take a shower, and waited for her.
Ariella just looked at Anton while still on the stairs. He was still waiting for Ariella
A few moments passed before she walks upstairs.
She walked ahead of Anton, so she also opened the door.
She took the towel that Anton would use.
Anton entered the bathroom and left the door open for her.
Even if he himself prevents him from undressing, but he has to. Even if he doesn't want to take a bath, it's necessary because that's what Ariella wants. It occurred to him that Ariella will leave again, so he agreed to take a shower, so she could stay.
Ariella accidentally looked at him. She didn't let it be known that she was surprised to see him shirtless and pantless. When he was about to take off his underwear, she immediately stopped him.
"No-no-no! No need to remove that."
Anton was wondering why but he just followed what Ariella said. It wasn't until later that he understood why.
"Come here. It's cold."
Ariella entered. She still avoided looking at Anton's shapely body and even more she did not lower her gaze to Anton's lower part where the long eggplant was hanging from his white underwear.
She couldn't help but swallow and sweat a little.
Anton sat on a small chair while hugging himself because he was very cold.
Ariella just looked at him for a while. There was pity in her chest but her pride prevailed more.
"Just a quick one, okay?" she said then filled the mug with water.
"I-its so c-cold," she said trembling.
"Not yet. I haven't even poured water on you yet," Ariella insisted.
"D-do it q-quick."
She poured water on Anton. He looked like a child who screamed because of the extreme cold he was feeling.
She no longer soaped Anton's body, just poured water on his body.
"Enough!"
She finished bathing Anton, so he immediately folded the towel over his body.
She went out immediately and waited for Anton.
Anton's clothes were ready so he was able to get dressed quickly. He was very cold and his body was still shaking.
He immediately went straight to the bed and lay down cover his body with a blanket.
Ariella just stood there, looking at him.
"I will just get your medicine and wet towel," she said before leaving the room.
She went straight to the kitchen to find medicine for his flu and also took a small basin and filled it with water and dipped the small towel in it.
Later on, she thought for a moment.
"I was just supposed to get something," she said.
She just stood there thinking for a while before she returned to the room.
She saw Anton sleeping but she knew he was awake.
She first put the basin on the side table and then gave the medicine and water to Anton.
"Take that."
Anton was just looking at her when he took the medicine and water. He leaned against the wall.
"Aren't you going to take that medicine?" she asked.
He was about to answer but he chose not to speak anymore. He just take the medicine then put the glass back on the side table.
Ariella just stood instead of sitting down, and seemed uncomfortable.
"Thank you, my wife," he said softly and weakly.
She just forced a smile and said, "I will make a soup for you. Just take a rest for now and wait for me."
She didn't wait for Anton to say any more and walked quickly.
"Wait, my wife."
She suddenly stopped but didn't look back. She just waited for him to complete his sentence.
"I love you," he said softly.
Ariella heard it clearly, and felt the sincerity, but she didn't say the same. She didn't even say a single word, but left the room.
She went straight to the kitchen again and again not to find a medicine but to cook his soup.
First, she prepared the ingredients, then she put a cup of rice in the pot. She washed it well before putting water on it, then she put it on the stove. She put a lot of water so that it would not turn into rice but into porridge.
Next step, she cut the gingers and meat lengthwise. When it boiled, she stirred it first before adding the ginger and chicken meat. She also put chicken cubes to taste the chicken meat better. She put another glass of water then covered it and let it boil.
While she waited for it to boil, she sat down for a while. In the few moments that she was sitting, many things were disturbing her mind again, so she stood up.
"I just came here to get some of my clothes. I shouldn't be doing this because he is guilty of me," she said to herself.
She took a deep breath before standing up to check the soup.
It was already boiling, so she added salt and pepper and then stirred. She let it simmer for a minute before turning off the heat.
She poured soup into a cup for Anton.
She carefully brought it to the room and put it on the side table first.
She's watching him sleeping until she notices that she didn't put the towel on Anton's forehead.
While watching him silently, she didn't notice a smile on her face. She was shocked when Anton suddenly opened his eyes.
"You came back," he almost whispered.
"I didn't leave. I just cooked for a while," she answered.
She took the soup and sat next to him. Even though she didn't mean to do it, her body did it voluntarily.
She blew the soup as if she was going to feed a toddler.
Anton just smiled as he watched her.
"I can do it," he said and took the soup from Ariella.
He ate little by little while constantly glancing at her.
When he found the courage to speak, he stopped eating and directly looked at her.
Ariella got confused by it but she didn't ask or say anything.
"Are you still mad at me?" he asked.
Ariella still feels that she hates Anton but her pity prevailed more seeing him like that. She didn't even think to do it but she did it willingly.
"Just eat and don't ask," she answered instead of answering Anton's very simple question.
"I know you can't stand me," he continued. He didn't say a word. "Don't leave me anymore, okay?”
