COLDNESS
CHAPTER 56
COLDNESS ❄️
It was around 6 o'clock in the morning while they were at the dining table, Anton's attention was not focused on the food but on his phone, so Ariella got confused by that. Anton was not like that back then.
Even Nanny Yel notices his changes.
Ariella clears her throat to get his attention and to stop using the phone while they eat.
Anton just looked at her and offered her water but he was still staring at the phone as if he was talking to someone or doing something on his phone.
"Will you stop using your phone during our meal?" she said and stopped eating for a moment to wait for Anton's response to what she said.
"Oh, I'm sorry, my wife," he said and listened to what she said. He didn't use the phone anymore but he hurried to eat.
He finished eating first and Ariella was left behind.
"You work off every Sunday, isn't it?" she asked when she realized that Anton seemed to be going somewhere so he was always in a hurry.
"Yes, but I have something important to do, my wife. Don't worry, I'll be back later," he said before going upstairs.
Ariella just let out a deep sigh and she lost her appetite.
"Nanny Yel, would you like to join me?"
"Sure, Ma'am," she replied.
She joined her to eat because she ate alone today. It's becoming quite frequent and Nanny Yel notices that too.
When Anton came back, already dressed, he saw them eating together and was shocked.
"Oh, what's the matter here?" he asked.
"Nothing. I just want her to join me. It's so lonely to eat alone at this long table,” she said without looking at him.
Anton approached her and kissed her, and said, "Don't be sad, my wife. I'm sorry if I need to hurry. It's just important.”
"I know and I understand like I always do," she said then she looked at him .
"I have to go, my wife. Please take care of yourself and don't wait for me, okay? I'll be back as soon as possible," he said and kissed her again, then left.
Ariella just let out another deep sigh as she left. Because he has no other choice but to endure.
Nanny Yel noticed her not okay face. "Don't mind it, Ma'am. If you want, I can teach you how to bake, if you want so you won't be bored," he said.
"It's okay, Nanny. I'm just going to bed and sleep for a while. Just call me when it's lunch time, okay?” she said and then stood up. "Continue eating, Nanny. After that, clean this and take a rest," she added.
"Okay, ma'am."
She went straight to their bedroom. He just lay down on the bed and forced himself to sleep again.
In the office, Anton was there, sitting on his chair while texting someone on the phone with a warm smile on his kissable lips.
After a couple of minutes, he left to pick up someone.
"Have you been waiting?" he asked.
She shook her head with a smile on her face, and said, "No."
"Uhmm...what do you want?" he asked.
"I want to watch the latest movie in Cinemax. Are you free?”
"Yeah, sure."
Since they were just at the mall, they just walked until they got to Cinemax.
They buy snacks and drinks before they enter the cinema. But the problem is that Ariella's brother saw them together. At first, he thought she was her sister, Ariella, but it wasn't. They didn't notice Ara especially Anton.
"Who's with him?" she asked, confused. He was alone because he just bought something at the mall when he saw them together.
Inside, they sat next to each other while watching a horror movie. Cindy couldn't avoid leaning her head on his shoulder and she often even hugged him because she was scared.
Anton just laughed because of him. He didn't even think that Ariella was waiting for him.
“It's so scary, isn't it?”
"Not at all," he replied.
"It is. I don't want to watch horror movies again," she said.
They were leaving the mall and about to go home when Ara approached them. Ariella waited for them to come out.
Anton's reaction was very surprised when he saw her.
"Hey?"
He just looked at Anton for a moment, then his eyes looked intently at Cindy.
“W-what are you doing here?” he asked.
Ara raised a brow while looking at them. “Who is she? As I remember, you don't have a sister. Are you cheating on my sister?!”
"N-no, Ara. You are thinking wrong. I am not cheating on your sister," he insisted. "She is Cindy, uhhm...my cousin," he added, then looked at Cindy for a while to signal her to ride what he said.
"Yeah. I'm just his cousin," she said and smiled.
Ara was immediately convinced by what they said so he didn't doubt anymore.
"Okay. I have to go. Take care," she said and left.
He breathed a sigh of relief when he convinced Ara that Cindy was his cousin.
"Who is she?" she asked.
"She's Ara, Ariella's sister," he said while driving home.
"Ahh...so..why did you introduce me to him as your cousin?"
"Rather than saying I'm just a friend."
Cindy didn't say anything until they reached her house.
"See you tomorrow," she said while waving her hand.
Anton left and went back home to Ariella.
There, he saw her waiting for his return.
"How's your day, my wife?" he asked and kissed her. He walks straight upstairs without even waiting for her.
Ariella didn't follow or even answer his simple question. She just laid on the sofa and slept as if she didn't see him.
A few minutes passed but Anton didn't come downstairs so they could talk, so she decided to go upstairs.
When she carefully opened the door, she saw him talking to someone over the phone but he immediately ended it when he noticed her.
It made her overthink.
"M-my wife, w-what's the matter?" he asked.
He suddenly doubted so he ignored him and went straight to bed.
"Have you eaten?" she asked.
"Not yet, but I'm not hungry," he replied.
"How's your work?" she asked again but he was lethargic as if he didn't want to talk to her but he just insisted.
"It's okay," he replied sparingly.
"Where else will you go?"
"I won't go anywhere now. I just want to take a rest.”
He lay down on the bed next to her but he didn't even hug her unlike before when every time he was next to Ariella she hugged him.
"My wife, will you make a cup of coffee for me?"
"Okay, sure," he answered sluggishly and he knew that Anton didn't notice.
As he said, he left the room and went straight to the kitchen.
She made Anton some coffee then returned to their room but when she placed the cup of coffee on the table, she saw him sleeping soundly.
She just let out a deep sigh while watching Anton.
He noticed and felt Anton's chill but he ignored it. She believes that it is just because she is overworking and stressed at work.
Not even doubting that he is still trying to believe what Anton said before.
She didn't even try to confront him.
