CHAPTER 45
“Are you coming home, Rae? You don't want to come with us?” Rafa asked me as we reached the parking lot at the same time.
It was exactly 6 PM when the shooting of the first scene of the movie which is in an office held was done. We were all busy even Yerim and Rafa because their department was the major subject in that first scene. It's a good thing they're with me today because otherwise, I wouldn't have lost that annoying man.
"Ria is waiting for me," I whispered to Rafa because Levi arrived just in time with a dark expression. I also noticed Jaxon behind him.
“Oh, of course. Let's just drink next time when you can again. We're heading first. Be careful, ah,” she said goodbye to me and then went on board at her car.
"Someone will take you?" Yerim asked when she could get close to me.
"Sure, there is," Jaxon replied and quickly kissed me on the cheek.
That didn’t escape the sight of Levi who stopped for a moment at the side of his car and looked at me sharply. I just looked away from him and turned to Jaxon.
"I haven't seen you before," I just told him, ignoring what he did.
“I was in a meeting. Are you hungry?" He asked me softly as I turned around and turned back to Yerim.
I saw her meaningful look then nodded at me.
“Alright. I’ll go ahead. It’s a pity you can’t come,” she said regretfully to me so I smiled sadly.
They allowed the whole department to have a drink at a nearby bar with Miss Rochelle and Sir Benedict. I just don’t know if he’s even included. Speaking of the devil, when I turned to look at him, I saw the seeming pain in his eyes before finally getting into his car.
“Be careful. Kiss Ria for me,” Yerim said goodbye so I just nodded.
“How was your day? I would have followed you if my meeting hadn't been so important,” Jaxon started as we were crossing the road home.
“It was fun and exhausting. That’s okay, there will be many more next time,” I answered him reluctantly and looked out the window.
I noticed the rain getting heavier. It is very dark on the road and only the headlights of the cars serve as ambient light. I also felt the extreme cold so I hugged myself.
I suddenly felt empty. Not sad or tired. It's just empty. My chest felt heavy and aching especially when I remember how he looked before. It was the same look he gave me that night in the elevator. When he said those words to me until now, I was still clueless. I’m still clueless at.
"You alright? What do you want to eat, Rae?" I heard Jaxon ask me.
I simply shook my head while still looking outside. I heard his sigh and his sudden grip on my free hand.
“You did well today, Rae. Don’t forget that,” he told me.
By the time we got to the condo, I was feeling strangely tired. Jaxon tried to talk to me many times but I refused to answer his questions and told him that I want to rest for tonight.
“I was just on the other side. Call me if there’s anything wrong,” he said softly to me as he said goodbye.
I just smiled when he slightly massaged my head before finally saying goodbye.
When he left, I went straight to Ria's room who was still sound asleep. I squeezed next to her and kissed her on the head. Vivien is a big help to me. She immediately called me when I came home to the Philippines because she wanted to watch over Asteria. It wasn’t my decision but hers. She said she would pay for it because until now she still blames herself for not keeping a good eye on mama then.
I was stunned by a series of door slams outside. I could hear that because it was so loud that it seemed like the door would be broken. I immediately walked towards the door and peeked into the peephole for a while.
"What the hell!" I hissed when I saw who was banging on my door at this hour.
I quickly opened it and exposed in front of me the soaking-wet Yerim, Rafa, and Levi. The man had almost closed his eyes and the two of them were just leading him.
“Oh my god! What, why?!" I asked the two of them confused.
They did not answer me and quickly entered. I slammed the door shut and quickly followed them. I peeked into Ria’s room and quickly closed the door when I left it open.
“Fuck! I can’t believe we managed to bring this guy here! He's very heavy!" Yerim growled as she shook her wet clothes.
“W-what... wait, why? What happened? Why did you bring him here?” I almost shouted at the two of them and looked back and forth at them.
Rafa just smiled and no doubt took off her coat then went straight to the bathroom.
“That idiot. He almost emptied the wine at that bar and then drive home. We didn't know his house so we just thought of bringing him here, Rae,” Rafa shouted.
I could feel the intense tremor in my chest as I watched Levi die asleep and now lying on the sofa. His white polo shirt was soaking wet and his whole body was almost exposed to me.
“Fuck it, Ye. It shouldn't be here. You know — what about Ria?” I said to her out of frustration.
She just scratched her head and shrugged.
"Destiny is really funny," Yerim uttered so I was even more disappointed.
Oh, gods. I don't know who else is on my side here.
