CHAPTER 48

"What? Did he say that? That's why when you left the day, he almost cursed you to death."

I looked at Yerim because of what she said.

"Curse? How did you say that?" I asked her.

"The last time we saw Levi, he didn't ask us about you which is unlikely of him. We asked what happened, and he just said he didn't care about you and he doesn't want you anymore," Rafaella responded to what I asked Yerim.

I looked at her. Its eyebrows glowed before the loss. She suddenly stopped eating and sipped on her juice.

"You know? I pity Jaxon, he would have been okay for you but why did he do it? I don't understand," Yerim uttered.

I was lazy to take a breath then my meal was over. We were having lunch at the pantry of our building. Fortunately, the next meeting about the second scene of my book will happen later. I had no idea what they were going to do next, so before the next scene, I asked to conduct a meeting first.

I suddenly remember how Levi talked to me that midnight. It was so full of pain and anger that I didn't understand why he thought I should be the only one who felt the pain because of what he did. He wasn't there when I needed him the most but choose to be with Marichu. I told him a few times how much I needed him for hours but he didn't give me a moment. So I decided to cut off all my connections with him even his daughter. I don't want him to know about our daughter because I don't want my daughter to leave behind when the time comes. I can raise Asteria alone. I don't need him.

"So, what happened when we left your condo that night? Did he see Ria?" Yerim asked and changed the subject.

I looked at her sharp-eyed and Rafa. I felt like they meant to bring that crazy man to the condo. I didn't know what they are thinking anymore.

"Don't get mad, Rae. Did they meet? No, right?" Yerim added.

"What if they met? You know what was my reason for getting that job in New York, right?" I irritably said to them.

"What is it, then? To hide? To escape? That's bullshit," Rafa suddenly noted.

Her cat-eyed was looking at me intently so I furrowed my forehead. I just watched her ruffle her hair while still looking at me.

"Levi is a father. Why don't you want them to meet? No matter what you do hide, Rae, he still won't lose his right to Ria. What if one day, your daughter asks where her daddy is? What are you going to answer her?" she asked me seriously.

She put her two elbows on the table and then looked at me again so I was able to get my eyes off it. Suddenly, I remembered what Ria had told me about her dream and her question that I didn't answer properly.

"She will understand, Rafa. I don't want to ruin his marriage just because we have a child," I lazy told her.

She laughed. Even Yerim laughed so much that I looked at them both of them. What is their problem?

"And who said Levi's married already? Is Jaxon too?" Yerim asked which made me shook my head.

"No, I just thought it. Jaxon told me at the time that he and Mari had engaged before I left so I thought maybe..."

"My god, Rae! Suit yourself. You were always like that, concluding things right away. Why don't you try to ask him if he's now married or not," Rafa suggested so I immediately shook my head.

"No way," I quickly told her and left them there.

I even heard their laughing so I just shook my head. I was feel irritated to go back to the working place and got there the cellphone I had left, it sounded like a call. When I looked at who the caller was, I was just shrugging because the unknown number was placed. I immediately answered the call and sat down.

"Hello. Who's this?"

"Where are you?"

When I heard that familiar voice, I was still stuck for a moment.

"Who's this?" I asked again even though I knew who it was.

I just want to make sure I'm not crazy and I can hear his voice even if he's not really that.

"You know who I am, Astraea," he coldly told me so I bit my lower lip.

How did he know my number?!

"To whom did you take my number?" I asked him back.

I heard his slow but heavy breathing on the other side of the line. It even whispered something I couldn't understand before violently taking a breath.

"Just answer my damn question. Where are you? Don’t you know about the meeting because you weren’t told or you really don’t plan to come here?” he asked me an authoritative question.

I quickly glanced at my wristwatch because of what he said. My eyes widened when I saw that the meeting would begin in just five minutes. Why the speed of time?!

I hurriedly adjusted my things while my cell phone was still in my ear. I could still hear his heavy breathing on the other line.

“I… I’m sorry. I just finished eating and I didn't realize the time. I'm going there,” I told him hurriedly and immediately left work.

“Next time, I will not give you chance anymore. With so much you have sinned against me, Rae, I might give you another punishment and make sure you'll learn from it,” he uttered in his gaspy voice which I think he meant.

"Fuck you," I told him emphatically.

I just heard his laugh behind the line. “We will. Let’s do that later after the meeting, baby. I’ll wait for you here,” he replied and ended the call.

My head almost exploded in annoyance at his rudeness. I almost entered the elevator and wondered if I would continue with his company or not. That Levi is really annoying!
