CHAPTER 96
"How's your sister, Raf? Finally home?" Levi immediately asked her,
Rafaella nodded at him. "Thank you very much, Lev. My family and I are very grateful to you," she said seriously to Levi so I just smiled.
I felt him holding my hand under the table so I smiled even more. When I looked around the whole place, my eyes caught Anne who was looking at me intently. I raised an eyebrow.
"Don't mention it. I'm happy to help. Just tell me when there's a problem," I heard Levi answer her before I said goodbye to the three of them.
"I just want to talk to someone," I said before finally standing up.
I didn't wait for them to answer and quickly approached Anne who was about to leave, but also stopped immediately when she heard me call her.
"Astraea, fancy meeting you here," she greeted me so I smiled at her.
"Nice to see you again, Anne. I never saw you leave Tierra Fima. Did Levi know you went home to the city first?" I asked her even though I already knew the real reason why she immediately disappeared from the island.
I invited her to sit at a nearby table where we were, which she immediately accepted. She looked at me intently and even raised an eyebrow.
"What do you mean? Didn't you order Levi to fire me because obviously, you're threatened about me," this answer made me smile so I almost laughed?
On the other hand, she was right but why would I admit that to her? What is she, crazy?
"Actually, I don't know about that. Levi just told me that you are no longer the architect of our house which I wondered the first time but understood it immediately," I simply said to her and pulled my hair towards the rear.
I saw how her forehead furrowed because of what I said. Irritation overtook her whole face and it seemed like it would attack me by the time I spoke. Just try me.
"What are you trying to say, huh?" she asked which made me chuckle.
"That Levi might hate you because you're not really good," I shrugged in response to her.
Her face blushed even more as she watched me. She looked very irritated but suddenly it was replaced by a strange grin.
"I'm actually good, Rae. That he might even think twice about marrying you when we do that in front of you--"
"Which will never happen, Anne," I interrupted what she was going to say.
This woman is really exhausting my patience.
"May I ask you something?" I asked her frowning.
"What is it?" She threatened to ask me a question so I laughed.
"How many times did you fantasize him doing that thing to you? How many times did you imagine him caressing your boobs with his big hands? How many times did you get wet while imagining him doing nasty things with you? Because I have experienced it many times that's why we have a child. How about you? That's all because--"
"How fucking dare you!" She suddenly shouted to my surprise. It even got up from where she was sitting so I got up as well and everyone was definitely looking at us.
"Dare me, Anne. The moment you get even closer to Levi, I will repeatedly make you realize how lowly you are," I told her emphatically and was about to turn my back on her but I was automatically stunned by what she said next.
"You really deserved to be raped. You should thank Noah because he didn't pursue his plan with you--"
Even before she continued what she was going to say, I couldn't stop myself anymore and immediately punch her face, which surprised everyone. I quickly felt the presence of the three behind me and I even heard Yerim laugh when she saw the blood flowing from Anne’s nose.
"What the fuck?!" She shouted and looked at me badly.
I raised a brow at her. "Rape is not a fucking joke, bitch. Even if you don't like me, I will never ask what happened to me to happen to you," I told her emphatically and left them there.
The next time we meet, I’ll make sure I don’t just punch her.
-
I watched Levi and Asteria play all day. Ria looked straight at me, wondering if I would join the two of them but I didn't.
By nightfall, they were both tired. Levi yawned but tried to still play with Ria. Soon the latter was yawning and yawning.
"Mommy!" She shouted once tiredly approaching me.
It's only eight o'clock in the evening. She is often still lively at such times. I think this day is different. The past few days that we haven’t noticed her both seem to have recovered that now.
"Are you sleepy?" I asked her.
It no longer responded. She just hugged me. She leaned her chin on my shoulder so I smiled. Levi just stared at the two of us. She just stood up when she saw that I was going to his daughter's room.
I opened the door. Only the lamp was lit and I left it that way. I laid Ria down on her bed. I even laughed when I saw that she was already sleeping.
"I will sleep here tonight," he said coldly to me.
He sat at the foot of the bed. Ria’s bed is enough for two but if we huddle here, it’s fine as well.
"Of course," I whispered.
He never spoke again. I stood up so that he could be close to our daughter. He stroked Ria's cheek and her hair.
Maybe he was still angry or resentful towards me because I didn’t tell him what happened to me. We haven’t talked about it properly yet because I still avoid it. These days, I don't have the strength to argue with anyone — argue, because I know that's where we're going to talk about it. I'm too tired to even think about it. I don't want to think about it anymore.
