When Lia left Lázzaro's room, stunned, she accidentally bumped into Magdalena who was taking her infallible tea to the sick man, who already seemed much better for the girl's taste since he was teasing her seconds ago.
- Oh sorry! - Lia exclaimed nervously.
- No problem. I brought his tea. she informed.
"He's waiting inside. Feel free. The girl gave a gentle smile and ran into the next room, her cheeks flushed.
Upon entering the room, he concentrated only on eating. She ate all the food and it was really delicious, however she didn't moan like Lazzaro when he was delighted with the meal.
The day passed slowly, neither of them could get the earlier images out of their heads. It felt like something different starting to emerge.
It was evening when the housekeeper came to say that dinner was ready. Lia took a shower and dressed in simple clothes, left the room and everything was very quiet, so she went down until she bumped into Lázzaro coming out of a room at the bottom of the stairs.
She felt her body stiffen and he felt her body burn.
"Are you better from the fever?" she asked looking at the wall beside him.
- I am yes. Thanks for the food I ate. — he winked — And of course, to Magdalena's tea. But I'm pretty sure it was the food. The mischievous smile sent a shiver up the back of the girl's neck.
- Excellent. I'm glad you're better. he said, not wanting to play his games again.
The last time messed with her a lot.
- Let's have dinner? - he said.
- Let's go.
Even during dinner, Lia didn't want to look at Lázzaro a lot, although she wanted to see those pretty lips chewing on something again.
"Thanks, I'll go upstairs." Lia stood up when Lázzaro grabbed her arm, cascading down her stomach.
"I'd like to invite you to a movie later." I make the popcorn this time. His eyes were shining.
And oddly enough, there was no malice or ulterior motives in her invitation, Lázzaro just wanted her company for a little while longer when being away was being... weird. He knew how risky this approach was, but he couldn't help it.
“I don't think so.
“You made me watch with you earlier, so I feel entitled to make you watch with me too. I'll wait for you in an hour and if you don't go, I'll come to you.
She swallowed hard and ran to the bedroom, she knew she was enjoying him and perhaps too quickly, yet who would be able to judge her? Lázzaro was a very handsome man and his charm enchanted all women. Was it right for her to stay so close to him? She could easily mistake his pleasantries again, but with a tossing and turning on the bed, she decided to go.
She brushed her teeth, rubbed cream on her hands and arms, and went over to him.
He knocked softly on the door, which was soon opened by a strangely anxious man. If for him at first it was just provocation, seeing how he managed to move her just by saying words became admiration, he wanted to know more deeply who Lia Hamilton was. And even if he took the serious risk of liking her, he wouldn't because he knew she would suffer in the end and that was everything he didn't want.
"I thought you weren't coming anymore." he said and she smiled.
“I wanted you to think. He entered and sat on the bed without waiting for an invitation.
— Do you want to choose the movie this time?
- Can choose.
- Certainty? She nodded. "A quiet place."
"Sounds like terror."
"I think so."
"I thought your life was already a terror." the young woman joked.
— I decided that I don't want to live a terror alone, so I'm going to see the others, who knows, maybe it's worse than my life and I feel a little relieved? He gave a sarcastic smile.
- Then it's fine. I'm going to use your bathroom. - warned and walked to the room that left her mouth open.
Someone could live there.
- Our! This is huge. he said, admiring the impeccably beautiful bathroom.
“I've been told that before. - he laughed.
— I hope you're not thinking nonsense, Senhor Bartholomeu... — Lia shook her head.
"You weren't referring to the bathroom?" He looked at her in amusement.
- Clear. What else would it be? He felt his cheeks turn red.
- I don't know. Maybe you're a little pervert. She threw him an offended look.
- What?! I'm not perverted! He laughed again.
She's beautiful when she's embarrassed...
- I'm sorry. he muttered, fiddling with the controller.
She used the bathroom and went back to her room after washing her hands.
— We got married, and we're about to watch the second movie together and I still don't know what you're working on... —she said, daring to get under the covers when the cold was intense.
“I'm a businessman. — placed the film.
— What do your companies do?
- Several things.
- What kind of things?
“Food, real estate, jewelry, automobiles…” She nearly choked.
- Our! All this? How can you manage? Don't you go crazy?
“You can be sure it is. But I have many partners, I am not alone in business. she nodded.
"I see... Can I be a little curious?" she asked with something that couldn't get out of her head.
"More than it already is?" He laughed without humor but she didn't care.
- Then let. The girl shrugged and then he was the one curious.
"Come on, ask what you want to know." he hurried, trying not to let anxiety pass through the question in his voice.
"Who was that woman talking right next to you on the day of the hearing?" He was startled and tense all of a sudden.
Lia watched as he scratched the back of his head and knew in that very moment who she was to him even though no response had been given. He felt the terrible jealousy invading his body.
— Wow, it takes so long to answer... —he teased.
— Lia... — he paused the movie and tried to say something feeling ridiculously guilty, since he had no commitment to the girl.
- Let's watch the movie. She took the remote and pressed play.
He stared at her face, side by side lying on the bed they were. The girl pretended to pay attention to the film, while Lázzaro continued only admiring the beautiful face out of the corner of his eye.
- She's your girlfriend? — Lia couldn't handle the storm in her feelings and questioned finally.
- No. She's not my girlfriend. — the defensive man's voice.
"Then why the reluctance to answer?"
- Because its complicated. — he was feeling terribly ill. But there were no reasons.
His affair with that woman began a year ago, when he couldn't even imagine meeting Lia and having to marry someone so suddenly so as not to lose his father's fortune.
However, Lazzaro stopped and thought: Why is she so angry? If you're angry at all. We have nothing and that was made very clear on the wedding day.
It came to a conclusion.
- Are you jealous? His tone should have come out mocking, yet it was intensely concerned.
You only feel jealous when you like it, shit! Does she like me? No, no, no! She can't like me!
The thought driving him crazy.
“I'm, I'm jealous because I like you. she said sincerely.
She was always honest with everything and at that moment she couldn't just lie that she wasn't jealous. His experience in relationships was zero and so he thought he should always be transparent.
The man was perplexed by the revelation. He blinked several times feeling confusion of feelings drive him crazy. The wave of regret washing over his body for teasing her earlier and seeking her company.
“Lia, you can't like me. he exclaimed causing her to flinch and water her eyes.
- Why not? He wanted to cry but held it until his throat hurt.
- Why not! You can't feel anything for me, you must not have any kind of feelings towards me!
The thought of Lia suffering when he died peculiarly terrified him. There was no way I could allow that to happen. The pain of losing someone he loves is the worst pain in the universe and the only thing he didn't want was that, for Lia to feel that horrible pain.
It was necessary that she hate him.
- Skirt. he said, rubbing his face hard with his hand.
"Lazzaro..." she cried out his name in pain.
"Get out, now Lia!" Leave me alone! And don't try to get close to me again! - he raged seeing her leave immediately with her eyes full of tears.
